@randomboostsuperguy Google "Valve Developer Lightmaps". Altering lightmap scales on a per-brush basis is a great way of changing the detail level of shadows. Unfortunately, lowering the lightmap scale i.e. increasing the lightmap resolution on a face comes at a price. Read the Valve Developer wiki page on lightmap scales for more info.
