Wow ... I remember this game on my Tandy 1000 DOS-based PC with 256K of RAM (that's kilobytes haha). I just had a monochrome monitor and this game haad no save feature so I got that theme song imbedded into my head even after a bit over 2 decades later (is it that long!?). The old game had an intro of the slow (famous) movement of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata.

Yeah people this is not a PSP Mini game. It is also coming out for the PS3, so the fact that it's coming out on the PS3 makes it just a small sized downloadable only game. Not a Mini.

(PSP minis come out only for PSP and can't be play on a PS3, also they must be under i think 100... If any of these requirements are broken then it's not called a Mini.)

It's in the PSN@Store since today! I remember playing the hell out of a Thexder 95, bought it instantly on my PSP. It's around 10$, though you have to use "search" function in EU store, because it's not yet listed. Maybe later today it will, but i just couldn't wait :]

The original game was amazing, and this seems to be a faithful sequel. I'm not sure if today's gamers will appreciate that... can't wait to play it. It's a tough game that requires patience and learning.

If this came out for the fist time today, I think it wouldn't sell. But the original game, and this looks very faithful to it, had a lot of depth, and once you knew you had to learn the AI to defeat it, it became enjoyable. I hope people understand this. I played for almost a year before realizing I had a shield I could use! LOL! What a fun game. I'm looking forward to it.

I'm not sure it's a sequel, looks more like a remake to me.

(I never played the original PC one... it was way before my time. But I've played the NES / Famicom one, and found it interesting and challenging.)

It wasn't as good, since it didn't have a bitmap graphics system, but instead a character graphics system, so it couldn't draw and calculate the laser exactly. The original PC version, specifically the Tandy, had 320x200 resolution and a pixel perfect laser. It didn't shoot projectiles like the NES. I found the NES too hard to play after playing the PC version. But if you liked it, you'll like the original, and this new one, for sure.

The only real issue I had with the NES one was the weird scrolling. I've only found one copy of Thexder out there... and it was for Apple PCs. -_-
