  • This song has a fascinating history. Doc Pomus, who was paralized since a young child from polio, wrote this song for his wife. He wanted her to be able to dance when they went out to nightclubs, but he wanted to make sure she always knew he was her love and would go home with him at the end of the evening. Mort Shuman brought the melody back from his many travels, this one in particular was after he returned from Mexico. Doc put the words to Mort's melody.

  • I used to work in the business in the 70s working with dozens of entertainers. Ben E King was one of the nicest people I had the pleasure of working with.
