  • these guys are fucked up!

  • I was in the freaking Navy in boot camp & my first ship this year. Missed the concert in ATL 'cause I was in the Med playing Cold War with the Russians and Lebanese insurgents!

  • jeez jimmy, take it down a notch

  • McCartney never ever left Denny Laine penniless, he paid him very good for the time he was with Wings, and has said so on many occasions!

This is a good performance, and it would of improved even more if they had continued to perform it.

I love the band McCartney has now, but Wings are the one and only originals, Laine, Mccoullogh, and English are the very best!

Absolutely thrilled that McCartney has finally performed this fantastic rocker again. Let's hope he keeps it in the setlist.

  • may i add that Joe English adds KICK to the drumming on this that geoff britten just couldnt muster. nice to hear this classic wings lineup playing this!

  • I lost respect for Paul for leaving Denny Lane penniless for a few years before helping him back on his feet. Paul is a very smart but a very shrewd businessman.

  • Terrific. So glad this rare performance exists on tape. Show Winga as a real band. A few rough spots just give it character.

  • Haha. And I never knew Wings had done it live til now!! Great version last night in Vegas even though he left out the 'president' verse

  • @jimixsx of course he doesnt want to Dis his BOY Obammy

  • Paul brought this song back to the live show last night!

  • this band was shite next to the current backing band Paul has , Paul is fine however

  • Joe English. The man.

  • I really love this song, but this is horrible!

  • this was such a cool band, could never understand why the musicians kept leaving Paul, and they never did anything after they would leave either, lazy bastards!!

  • Thank you for posting!! This is the shit.. LOVE IT!

  • why did he cut this song from the play list when they toured america later in the year?

interesting how animated jimmy was in this clip...wonder if paul told him to knock it off cause he was much more reserved as the tour went on...

jimmy was the best lead guitarist paul ever employed..he blows away the guy he uses now..rusty anderson...that rusty is drab, colorless and joe english blows abe leborial away as seen in this clip...i admire brian ray and wix though...brian should be the lead gtr !

  • @ChiroQuacker Paul has always told his band memebrs to be still and jsut be a backing band, then and now. All 4 bandmates he hast today are good friends and like to immitate eachother, leap i n the air while playing and be animated. On the Letterman Show when Brian moved a bit toward center stage and just did some little movements like bending backward and exagerated strumming Paul went up to him mid performance and whispered something. after that they stayed back and to the sides

  • @QueenBeatlesWings

gotta put the hired help in their place every now and then...

i am a very generous and considerate employer but sometimes my staff get uppity and i too put them in their friggin place...

theres only one star on my stage...just like pauls...

good he told brian to knock off the shit...brian is a great guitarist..far better then rusty who sucks and is bland....

funny thing is brian and rusty look as old as paul now..i wonder is that from being paid slave wages

  • Would anyone rate this as the best "Paul McCartney, Wings,' song of all time?

    I would.

    Just wondering

  • He hasn't done this song live forever and it is a clear fan favorite, as well as Silly Love Songs...I wonder why?

  • @fumetti I'm thinking it's because Linda was in the band.

  • @fumetti I also wnat him to play Silly Love Songs!!!!!!!

  • terrible rendition .... best backup band Paul ever had is the one he has right now...

  • I love this song. I want to hear McCartney perform it now in 2010!!!

Some of you mentioned Jimmy McCullough. I've read somewhere that he stood outside McCartney's bedroom one night, and pointed a gun at a sleeping Paul. He almost shot the ex-Beatle that night. Is this true?

  • @IamMagPie no. Jimmy was only in the band for 2 years anyway, and he didnt' express any problems with Paul and Wings unlike some previous band members who quit the band eventually like Denny Laine who complained about Paul micromanaging everyone. If anyone would've done such a thing it would be one of the first people to quit or Laine or a crazy fan. In Lagos Paul and Linda were walking when a gang member pulled them aside at gun point demanding their recorders and money, but no band members

  • @QueenBeatlesWings

Incorrect. Jimmy McCulloch (<--- the correct spelling) was a member of Wings for 3 1/3 years.

  • wonder why he dropped it from the set list

  • I love this song, I always say the last time I went shopping was when that old man was there. Kids drive, kids shop. we call my brother Junior, and he had a tokeing farm about the time this song came out.

  • the energy is fantastic! which explains why the backing vocals are not even remotely in pitch. i'm sure it sounded great if you were there :)

  • he should've payed this when he went to the White House because it mentions "the President"

  • I didn't know he ever did this song live. This is a good rocker and a top ten hit. I wonder why he never does it any more?

  • love this one!!

  • JImmy McCullough sure wasa great guitarist. too bad he died so young (26)

  • Paul and Wings always have rocked!

  • Junior's Farm was released as a single with Sally G as the B side. Both songs were top 20 hits in 1974. Both were recorded during Paul's summer vacation in Nashville.

  • @JJ4518 Didn't he end up in New Orleans on this same trip? Listen what the man says and my carnival?

  • Junior's Farm was released as a single with Sally G as the B side. Both songs were top 20 hits in 1974.

  • JAM DOWN

  • Friggin' rocking xxxx

  • I remember being at this concert clear as day

    It blew my young mind

  • Reminds me of NEWCASTLE CITY HALL 1976 me and Suzy paid late for two platform tickets and then found two free seats

  • Why was this dropped from the 76 tourset; anybiody know? its scorching

  • @slappyabromowitz This was the last Wings (or McCartney) release on Apple Records, so maybe he stopped because it was somehow a reminder of The Beatles.-that's just a guess though. or maybe Paul didn't think it sounded right, or maybe after Jimmy left he stopped playing it because it wasnt the same without Jimmy's guitar playing solo

  • McCartney should be performing this song live right now!

  • @thumbsaloft

    I Think So

  • @thumbsaloft He finally did in June, 2011 at the MGM in Las Vegas!

  • @njriley55 he did? wow, this is one of his many rocker gems with Wings that belongs in his concert set!

  • @NoirFan01 Yep! And he sang it last night in Detroit too (as well as on July 15 & 16 in NY at Yankee Stadium!)

  • @njriley55 Excellent! Maybe Paul will add a tour date for the SF Bay Area and I can (hopefully) see him perform it live. For me, I'd like to see him and the band perform more Wings rockers (Junior's Farm, Helen's Wheels, Hi hi hi) and less Beatles.

  • @NoirFan01 Yeah, I agree (and hope he comes to Atlanta) I could do without hearing Hey Jude for the 47, 865th time! LOL! I did like hearing The Night Before though as he's never done that live.

  • @thumbsaloft well he did a couple nights ago.

  • @thumbsaloft It's part of the set list on the 2011 tour! :-)

  • He needs to do this live now

  • I was at this performance. What a great night!! Wings really rocked.

  • Love that nonsense rhyme:

    "Everybody's talking bout the president

We all chipped in for a bag of cement."

  • Wholeheartedly agree with the JM comments. They say he couldnt handle the rock and roll lifestyle. Sad.

  • @AntoniusRome do you know why Jimmy McCullough died of a heroin overdose, I always though he was anti-drug since he wrote Wings songs like 'medicine jar' against drugs.

  • @QueenBeatlesWings .Dont really know, I know he became increasingly difficult to work with, eventually he left/was fired from Wings, you're right though, 'Medicine Jar' was an anti-drug song.

  • Who ever is finding thIS great rare wings stuff. THANK YOU.

  • Funny, he transposes the first lines of the second and third verses.

  • I hate it when really talented people are drug casualties. RIP Jimmy!!!

  • Been a long time since I've watched my video of this & yes SALLY G was flip side. I can remember a local band performing this song on our senior trip in high school....1975.

  • i dont think i ve ever heard mc cartney 2 . mc cartney seamed to go through a bit of creative slump in the 80s . although having said that tug of war still if one of my favourite mc cartney albums . in recent years he seams to be back on form again .

  • Yeah, that's right. Jimmy played a Gibson SG.

  • some of those old b sides were quite interesting . i doubt if many of theme are on cd even now so those old 45s must be real collectors items . i remember one called zoo gang

  • Zoo Gang was the flip side of Coming Up. (live version) 1980. It was actually Lunch Box/Odd Sox, Zoo Gang. McCartney 2 was the album that featured Coming Up studio version. Macca tried to capture the same technique from McCartney, his first solo album, 1970. It just didn't fare too well, when I bought it McCartney 2 in the summer of 1980, there were some tracks that were pretty weak. Frozen Jap, Waterfalls, and Darkroom sucked!

  • Zoo Gang was the b-side to Band On The Run single released June of 1974. Was not the flipside to Coming Up.

  • O.K. Hey, wasn't Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Five the B side? Maybe you're thinking of the U.K. release. There are also different B sides to Jet. I had the single with Mamania, and the other B Side was Let Me Roll It.

  • This is Paul during his 70's Wings period. Here's the line up:

PM, bass vocals (my idol, Paul if you're reading this, I will be speachless if we shake hands one day!) Jimmy McCullogh lead guitar. I feel that he was McCartney's best guitarist, Denny Laine, guitar, vocals. Joe English, drums . Linda McCartney, keyboards. This song, which was released in 1974 was a single. It wasn't on an album. If I can remember, and somebody correct me if I'm wrong, the flip side was a song called Sally G.

  • Jimmy McCullogh's solo from 1:21 to 1:35sounds like something Jimmy Page would do for Led Zeppelin. Great solo!

  • Jimmy M is the best guitarist McCartney ever had IMO

  • Actually, it was George Harrison if you also consider the Beatles. But yeah, I get what you mean, man. Jimmy's really spectacular!

  • You're right about Jimmy. His short solo at the first really gets to my rocker soul. Is there any good live version of JF on a dvd anywhere?

  • Try a store called Pepperland. They are in Orange, CA.

  • I cannot believe Pepperland is still in OC. Used to go there in 70's COOL

  • Yes, they are in Orange, CA. Tustin Ave, before Lincoln Ave.

  • @MrJetfire59 yes, on the video "Wingspan" there's a good version of Junior's Farm and other great Wings songs

  • About frogging time for a Wongs Anthology! Fick!

  • Great song, In the chorus when he sings 'where I wanna lay low' it always sounded like he sings 'were all rolling up', (especially in the first chorus of this version).

  • I don't hear that at all, but Paul was well known for Rolling Up

  • Reading back my comment I should have typed 'it always sounded TO ME like he sings were all rolling up, ah well, anyone got any reefers?

  • Prices higher than the time before. Groceries.

  • and gasoline..

  • He took his BAG into a grocery store, bag, get it? Bag of weed? According to a couple biographies, Paul and Linda smoked pot like some people smoked cigarrettes. Maybe it's Junior's pot farm. I'm silly.

  • Breathless!!!!

Paul I can wach you forever...and listen your wonderful voice

  • me too ( ̄ー ̄)b

  • @Flannij

    and me
