  • Just heard Alexander Korsantia play this ossia version last Saturday. Resulted in a standing ovation. I completely think this is the better version.

  • it´s so weird that rachmaninoff didn´t do this ossia in the finale but he play the ossia of the first movement, maybe he had his reasons or he could not play it?.

    Watch Rachmaninoff playing his concerto.

  • do you have the sheet of THIS version? i've been looking everywhere... just CANT find it! =/

  • @fabiolacerda it's in the schirmer edition.

  • Without a doubt this is the DEFINITIVE RECORDING of this work! Hands down! Love him or hate him, nobody electrifies and sells out a symphony hall like Andre Watts. When he comes to town, and I'm in the Baltimore/Washington area you have minutes to call the box office.

  • i bought this cd today. andre watts is an amazing pianist. one of my favorite versions.

  • I bought this movement from Itunes so I can listen whenever I want! =D

  • Cool.Like everyone said, that cadenza isn't heard much.I think it strikes as more exiting, but I find that the triplet one breaks from the rhythm more and gives it more of an ending sound.

  • You know, after the eighth note section in the ossia, on the score it says "etc." so does that mean that the pianist is actually supposed to continue the eighth notes a second time?

  • Also Sokolov do a great rendition of this cadenza ;))))

  • We are lucky to have him. I wish Watts would record EVERYTHING. He is a gift to Mankind.

  • this fall he's going to play Rach 2 on opening weekend with the cincinnati symphony orchestra. having heard some of his Rach 3 i just cannot wait to hear him play Rach 2.

  • Fantastic energey!!!!

  • Wonderful! Absolutely wonderful. I love Andre and he is a joy to see live on stage.

  • That was awesome! I never heard that version before.

  • It sure is :) Watts is the only person I know that played this ossia.

  • Also Sokolov ;)

  • because it wasnt written by rachmaninoff well it was but it wasnt rach wrote two versions of the cadenz and watts combined the two =)

  • There's a guy named Sokolov that does that ossia also. :)

  • @harryg94 argerich played it as well. might want to check it out if you haven't heard it yet.

  • @harryg94 Check out Martha Argerich's recording with Ricardo Chailly. She also plays this version. Phenomenal

  • @solveaproblem she doesnt play this version, listen carefully at the end she only plays quarter note triplets throughout the ending of the finale

  • @harryg94 Grigory Solokov tries as well.

  • ........please load the whole concert with Andre Watts!!!!

I want to see him playing!.... nor only me!!!

    He´s so brilliant!!!

Thanks so munch for this gorgeous show!

  • As much as I'd love to, I feel it'd be a bit unfair as it's © and all the rest.

You can use the link in the description to buy the 2nd & 3rd Concerto CD for only $6.65 (£3.30/€4.30). Unfortunately it's a CD recording and there's no video :(

  • awesome octaves!

  • Yup! I'd love to see him play it instead of just hearing.

  • 4!!!

  • The Ossia (alternative) section starts at 1:27
