I agree Hans Christansin Anderson had a very hard and sad life so he wrote sad fairy tales! For example read the original version of the little mermaid, because the disney story is not correct with some parts of it! This particular story is much less known period. And it reflects back to his times and his life of a no happy endings in life or in stories place! Period! Even if there was a happy ending it was also a sad one too. So there.
You guys are wack..... there is nothing wrong with reading children this story. The world is full of illusioned people wearing rose colored glasses without any empathy for each other. Happy endings, my ass!
This music is really annoying. It's like something from a horror movie. I kept expecting a masked man with a knife to jump out at the match girl. And the narrator's emphasis is in all the wrong places.
Guys watch the Disney Pixar version- It's much more emotional and in my opinion is much better. It actually got me really teary-eyed and it is honestly one of Disney's finest. It also definitely should have been in Fantasia. I think the narrator and the music in this is really annoying and anti-climatic. Notice how the same dramatic violin chords are playing over and over again at one point. Anyways, just go see the Disney-Pixar version.
I don't know why some of the commenters are so surprised that she dies,go read the actual story .She dies at the end, there is no Hollywood ending this was written in t 1845 .
@cyberwalker2020 here's a secret fairy tales the real ones the written down ones were never really meant for kids and I don't think "The Little Match girl" was ever supposed to be a kids story.
@mylittelucy yeeeeees i always say that is not for kids..when i saw it for the first time as a kid i was crying all night ,till the next morning..my worse night!! :)
@gentlemortal Why? Death happens to us all. And at least this is shown in a fairly romantic way (Returning to her beloved grandmother). Plus, look at Disney - most films have a death scene in them at some point (even if it is the death of the baddie)
very nice story i like it very much...........

@donnellia24 nice version, but they did leave out the grim parts (i.e. father beat her and she froze to death), but still it was very effective
