  • To read " My Father Was A Freedom Fighter, Gaza's Untold Story" is to understand who Ramzy Baroud is and why he does what he does. He is his father's son. Subscribe to the Palestine Chronicle.

  • Finished reading. Brilliant! If I were to recommend this book, it would be as assigned reading to college students all around the world. The book brought tears to my eyes as it did make me laugh out loud. Mohammed, may his soul rest in peace, was a delightfully engaging character who brought a human face to the thousands of Palestinians suffering the sheer banality of cruelty under Israeli occupation. Baroud has provided us with an encounter of life in Gaza and the essence of being Palestinian.

  • I deem it it a privilege to have rubbed shoulders with real Irish Freedom Fighters. I have pride that a grand uncle gave his life for Ireland in our War of Independence for Irish freedom. My grandfather was twice subject to a mock execution, once immediately after my grandma gave birth. My mother witnessed these events but most of her siblings were not yet born!

If F-16s or drones were killing mine from on high, I might easily strap on bombs to maybe save my siblings. I'd prefer to die a man like Bobby Sands than yield to intolerable, unending oppression. Well, that's just me.
