i saw one a few days ago on PBS, but not like that. it sits on the ground and it about a foot tall and it spins one way, then you throw a switch or something and it spin the other way the yarn collected on the wheel, i think, and this was south American. i want one of those.
could you go through putting one together? I'm getting one in the mail soon, and its in pieces parts. Perhaps touch on trouble shooting etc. I know, I'm asking alot. But I really like how you state things, and how clear you are.
Ah! So this is how Sleeping Beauty pricked herself. I use a bobbin-and-flyer wheel myself and always wondered how she managed to draw blood on one of those. A 'great wheel' uses the same technique as this one, and that is what the poor girl must have used.
I agree w/ Archer - great vid, but it seems like there should be more. Zanmistoffelees, pretty please post the rest of the instructions b/c I might be getting one soon!
can it do wool ? if so i would love to get one ! please respond me asap

Your video is great. Please give us more. I agree with Lindaspinsandknits. I would like to know how to assemble a charkha.
