this is pretty badass but everyone should remember that tommy lee was the first major drummer to start spinning stunts like this. the way travis does it is incredibly fast though, im shocked he didnt even drop his drumsticks.
I think what has gotten Travis where he is, is the fact that he's kind of combined the hip-hop and punk aspects of music and created his own thing. I honestly don't think he's anything spectacular, but he should be applauded if nothing else for being original.
And stop comparing him to Joey Jordison. please. for the love of ANYTHING that is holy.
@thedriveforfive plus if you notice all joey jordison does is keep hitting the bass...it's really annoying how all you ever hear in a joey jordison solo is "thud"...if you look at travis barker, even in this video...he's got his accented notes perfect, he's got the coordination to make it seem like it's easy being all over the place and he does this all at a very high BPM
Travis really understates his true abilities when you see him play solos. The dude is VERY good at what he does. Keep in mind he's a punk drummer so they always look and sound like they have adhd. His execution is flawless despite his non use of intricate and complex rhythms be they poly or odd time sigs. He's not the greatest drummer by any means but he has sex appeal and his time with Blink really set the stage for his popularity and celebrity thus to the ignorant masses he's the greatest
@leach987654321 yea hes the grestest tool alive......drumming cant even place him in the best 1000...hes a showmen flailing arms and lots of tattos...make the masses come a runnin
Keep hating jealous drummers!!! Travis is famous because he deserves to be and you dont!!! I fucking love this guy, he's a very cool dude! So nice in person too!
Travis is my favorite, not because I think he is the best, I'm sure he would tell you himself he's not the best, but what he does hits right on what makes me and millions of people personally enjoy how he plays. And same with Joey, Neil peart, John bohnam, or whoever floats your boat. Thus...why they're all famous...
i know and it fucking pisses me off! i mean i like slipknot but (LISTEN NEW DRUMMERS) ALL JOEY DOES IS PLAY DOUBLE BASS REALLY REALLY FAST AND THAT'S IT! Travis at least knows what he's doing and has beats that actually flow and not just random ass fills, of course not "the best drummer ever" but def my favorite and he's a hell of a lot better than joey
yeah i love john too he's amazing and without a doubt him and travis are a hell of a lot better than joey, i'm so glad i could finally find a drummer that agrees with what i say haha
the ride he is using this tour is a 20" Zildjian K Crash ride, he is using the sweet ride as his right crash and a 18" A custom projection crash @ his left and 14" A custom mastersound hihats
@Barkinger I think he uses a 21" Zildjian A sweet ride [brilliant finish]. The brilliant finish is a special order, so if you want to buy it id recommand looking at ebay or so. There is also a traditional finish ride like that which also sounds amazingly beautiful. so check it out!
name another current drummer that plays with the same marketable stage presence. don't forget the music industry is one part art and one part entertainment.
Yeah, I'll agree, his drumming attracts big crowds, and hes good at making his beats sound simple, understandable, and still enjoyable, which is a hard thing to do to such a broad audience. So in terms of being a buisnessman, he's the best. But that doesn't give any credability to the technical aspect of his play. Not in this solo atleast.
@ninety9cents thats pretty much my same thought to that statement, travis even talked about that in his interview just the feel he gives when he plays is badass
@ninety9cents yeah and im not entertained, im bored, but because this world is made of half wit monkeys that will watch anything the industry says is good, they are entertained, i am not,he's got style yes, he's unique yes, but hes not the best in the world, neil peart will rock his shit
@ninety9cents easy! ever heard of a man name, Chris Tsagakis? Go ahead, look him up... insane stage presence. He is the drummer of Rx Bandits. Not to take away from travis barker, he is extremely talented, but C Gak plays with this type of stage presence, but is 1000x more creative. his beats sound nothing like any other drummer.
@ninety9cents actually Joey Jordison did something like this where he was at a 90 degree angle and was spinning. but there is no one quite like Travis Barker ill give him that
and this is what happens when people have opinions on youtube. Ekjae, maybee if you weren't so busy jerking off to travis' videos you could give me some sort of reason why you think hes so much better then everyone else.
@ryanthiessen19 his drummng is not about being the best but about being right... U cant expect a Punk drummer to start fuckin blastin in the middle of a song... He wont have a HUUUGE drumset and 3 bass drums. He plays what he plays and he does it right
I must have been like 5 people away from you. I was on barricade the entire show, and then I left barricade RIGHT before this. Just my luck hahaha. Still amazing though.

no he didn't. Tommy Lee did it before Joey, and other dummers did it be for Tommy.
DAMIVzombie 8 months ago
@DAMIVzombie tommy lee first did it in the early 80's i'm not quite sure if they even had the tech bfore then
anyways i think that tommy lee popularized
p.s that isn't even a solo travis barker is fucking an idiot for calling that a solo
