I think what has gotten Travis where he is, is the fact that he's kind of combined the hip-hop and punk aspects of music and created his own thing. I honestly don't think he's anything spectacular, but he should be applauded if nothing else for being original.

And stop comparing him to Joey Jordison. please. for the love of ANYTHING that is holy.

@thedriveforfive plus if you notice all joey jordison does is keep hitting the bass...it's really annoying how all you ever hear in a joey jordison solo is "thud"...if you look at travis barker, even in this video...he's got his accented notes perfect, he's got the coordination to make it seem like it's easy being all over the place and he does this all at a very high BPM

Travis really understates his true abilities when you see him play solos. The dude is VERY good at what he does. Keep in mind he's a punk drummer so they always look and sound like they have adhd. His execution is flawless despite his non use of intricate and complex rhythms be they poly or odd time sigs. He's not the greatest drummer by any means but he has sex appeal and his time with Blink really set the stage for his popularity and celebrity thus to the ignorant masses he's the greatest

Yeah, I'll agree, his drumming attracts big crowds, and hes good at making his beats sound simple, understandable, and still enjoyable, which is a hard thing to do to such a broad audience. So in terms of being a buisnessman, he's the best. But that doesn't give any credability to the technical aspect of his play. Not in this solo atleast.
