Ive been playing this with my friend and it actually makes it really fun to watch each other play. Ignore the out of combat uses for kinect (except maybe shouting Shephard's responses for lolz) and the combat is much more fun. So while my friend is controlling Shephard, i can tell his companions what to do in the fight. We have only tried the single player so far.
He will be buying the kinect just for this game? All i saw was you only getting to use voice commands instead of using your controller to select certain things in the game and making yourself look like an idiot and feel awkward and be annoying.
You could just use your mic for this shit and on any system instead of having to buy the kinect.

Ok, the main reason why this video has so much hate is that a good majority of them are PS3 and/or PC players. I got the demo, I have a kinect, I played with it and it works. Also the key word in all of this stupidity is, OPTIONAL! If you HAVE a kinect, you have the OPTION to use it! You are not being force to use it! People, think of it this way: Console players cannot bind actions to 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 and 9. They have to pause the game and use a control stick EVERY TIME they want to perform a Concussive Shot. With that in mind, I can see how Xbawks 360 user would care about being able to do anything without pausing time and ruining every moment of every fight and instead just doing the console equivalent of keybinding, but honestly, fuck Mass Effect on console.
@XCVGVCX not exactly they use the voice recognition of kinect so you'd need that software on your mic for it to work. it's too bad because I would love to have this on pc (don't have a 360)

i thinks this was a good idea. Microsoft pays bioware to say "The game is better with kinect!" so that the people that bought the kinect FINALLY have an excuse to use it other than dance central. However true mass effect fans know this kinect option won't really improve gameplay, i tried the demo with kinect on normal and died like crazy. Bioware gets money, we all happy :)
Its bullshit that you'd have to buy a kinect just for this feature when a headset would work FINE. Its just their way of trying to shovel the Kinect onto the "hardcore" gamers that don't care about dancing or Zumba games.. I never thought I'd say this but the kinect addition isn't awful. I played it through the demo and it was just as good as pressing a button for commands. I only felt a little more engaged and it could be challenging on higher difficulties to just use kinect and no d pad pressing. I only gave squad commands. No "bypass or etc."
I already had a kinect so I tried it but I'm not saying you should buy a kinect for it. Just as fun without it. This is from a loyal ME fan since 2007. Good add Bioware.

People shouldn't hate on this. The kinect is optional so you don't have to use it if you don't want to. Using it for bypassing and opening doors is really stupid, but using it for abilities allows for uninterrupted combat.
You could use the controller for Shepard and kinect for your squad. And again, you don't have do use this if you don't want to!
The kinect on it works really well and responds almost always first time, unfortunately the majority of those who hate it probably don't even have Kinect.

The whole voice command thing is pretty cool actually. Makes the game much more involving. At first I thought it was gonna be motion control. That would have sucked.
it is pretty cool, having played with and without the kinect. all the haters just think kinect is for kids, they havent released the full potential of kinect but their working toward it.
I don't think this is about speed, more about immersion. A lot of people can use something like Singularity by using buttons, but saying it is more engaging. If you don't like it, then don't use it.
Oh geez, this trailer was embarrassing. Those people were all clearly paid to say what they did. I can't imagine this being anything other than a fun gimmick at first but ultimately far slower than using a button. Nice attempt though by Bioware, it certainly is an innovative way of using Kinect, I just don't think it really will be "better" at all.

From what I played on the demo, the voice commands are pretty fun to use, albeit a little bit useless. While making decisions it's kind of fun to actually say the words instead of clicking the button. It's fun in a pointless way.
But in combat..it can get a little tedious. I mean, when you're freaking out and shouting "first aid, FIRST AID!" it just doesn't register. You have to be CLEAR.
I mean it is understandable..but yeah. It's still fun and I will be using it that's for sure :P

Why does everyone hate this? It's NOT REQUIRED to have a kinect to play Mass Effect 3. It's just a theme to make playing more fun or easy. It doesn't effect the way the game is played if you want to use just your controller. If you think it's useless, DON'T USE IT. Easy as that.
@DarthNature because this was one of the reasons that the game was delayed. if it was for some better use, such as putting in more content or tweaking the game mechanics, it would have been all good. but because microsoft is trying to pawn off their kinect onto as many games as possible to try to keep it alive. we have to wait longer for this game, all for a feature that not many people actually care about or actually want.

Oh geez, this trailer was embarrassing. Those people were all clearly paid to say what they did. I can't imagine this being anything other than a fun gimmick at first but ultimately far slower than using a button. Nice attempt though by Bioware, it certainly is an innovative way of using Kinect, I just don't think it really will be "better" at all.

And I dont see why you need Kinect for this. I know other games where you can do voice commands with just a mic, for example End War. This is clearly just microsoft trying to get people to buy kinect. From what I played on the demo, the voice commands are pretty fun to use, albeit a little bit useless. While making decisions it's kind of fun to actually say the words instead of clicking the button. It's fun in a pointless way.
But in combat..it can get a little tedious. I mean, when you're freaking out and shouting "first aid, FIRST AID!" it just doesn't register. You have to be CLEAR.
I mean it is understandable..but yeah. It's still fun and I will be using it that's for sure :P

Why does everyone hate this? It's NOT REQUIRED to have a kinect to play Mass Effect 3. It's just a theme to make playing more fun or easy. It doesn't effect the way the game is played if you want to use just your controller. If you think it's useless, DON'T USE IT. Easy as that.

@DarthNature because this was one of the reasons that the game was delayed. if it was for some better use, such as putting in more content or tweaking the game mechanics, it would have been all good. but because microsoft is trying to pawn off their kinect onto as many games as possible to try to keep it alive. we have to wait longer for this game, all for a feature that not many people actually care about or actually want.
