The TV looks smaller because, as the author mentions at the beginning, he is using WIDE LENS just to get the TV in the picture, so yes, everything in wide lens looks farther away and smaller than it is. ;)

Hopefully the updated drivers will keep that halting/stuttering during playback down to where we don't notice it. During this demo it stops for a split second several times, very annoying.

The phone can do anything. Maybe not out of the box, but you can be guaranteed that someone will write a movie player that will play your 700mb avi files. Whether your computer lasts long against all the viruses you're downloading to upload it to your n900 remains to be seen, though.
