I climbed that mountain at least once every summer for about 7 years between 1952 and 1959. Our house was about 2 blocks east of Wood River which lies at the eastern base of Carbonate. I guarantee that those trails you see were not there back then. There was an abandoned mine on the south face of that mountain which provided extra excitement being explored. Those were happy days back then but I'm sure I longed to live in a big citiy (like Twin Falls LOL).
Haha thats funny I still live here and yes Hailey is an amazing place. I'm not grown up though yet i still go to High School but i say every one needs to come to Hailey! =D
This is an awesome video!! It is actually called Mount Carbonate (note spelling). In its early days, Hailey was a mining town, mostly silver, but some other minerals were mined there too. I'm sure there is an official reason why it's called Carbonate, but there are many things around Hailey, if you look, are named after mining, etc. e.g., Silver Creek, Mount Boullion, Mount Carbonate, to name a few. I was raised in this town...now I'm homesick! lol
