  • Holy sheite you hit the ground on the first time.

  • that dart is awfuly skinny i think 1 inch diameter would Be better. also the added weight would take advantage of the extra leverage that the atlatl provides. but dont listen to an overpriviliged 14 year old. you can do what ever floats your boat.

  • @MHTCapcomfan trail and error...

  • Comment removed

  • make the dart and done

  • HUNGER GAMES.

  • that's gonna land on someones knee

  • Finally, A project I can build and have the suppies for.

    *starts to rain*

    *I rage!*

  • Built it! Now I just need to find a mammoth and I can finally feed my family!

  • I made one I wood shop yesterday

  • It's too bad I didn't know about this back when I had shop class, I would've been atlatling the shit out of everything.

  • in soviet Russia the atlatl throws you

  • @RATMAN775 In Soviet Russia all 140% of the population uses atlatls. XD

  • No one else is curios where the hell he found a red and bright blue duck?

  • @DerekBlankenship1 Those are very likely man made feathers just like you could get a man made gem, they can be a feather from the same animal or a different one and are painted to look nice or to look like another birds feather. I am actualy native american and a lot of the feathers we use happen to be turkey feathers painted to look like eagle or hawk feathers. This is just a common substitute because eagle and hawk feathers are illegal... hope that answers your question with a history lesson:D

  • Not as much fun as the old way of making one, but I guess it'll work for teaching people the basics...

  • i learned about the atlatal in scocal studies

  • i killed some vampires wit dis shit

  • if you dont want to widdle it then you could probably use a pencil sharpener right

  • @808Knifa You'll need a pretty big pencil sharpener!

  • @Imonaboat657 But it depends on the thickness of the dowel. i mean all you need to do is get the end of the dowel sharp.

  • dam i killed my teacher

  • Shit!! i killed kenny

  • @420bruiser what...my name is kenny not lieing O.o

  • its actually pronounced (atl-atl) not (at-latl)

  • atlatl

  • in sioviet russia dart throws you

  • Gawd Damn, you got one to go into the ground...

  • dont use an exacto knife to make the arrow sharp......... usa a pencil sharpener :3

  • a very crude atl atl

  • its a plane is super man no its the atlatl

  • thumbs up if you dont ever make any of his project and watch them for fun.

  • holy crap look at it fly!!!!!!!!!

  • useless because mammoths dont exsist!

  • It's Kipkay!

  • You dont need a hole for your finger and giving a soft angle to the handle would help to get more speed also making a Y to hold the dart so you can hold the handle with all your fingers instead and finally make the tip of the peg sharper too......

  • kip, i cant find any blue and red ducks, what am i supposed to do now?

  • how did the ancestors created this without hot glue ? :O

  • Asheron's Call is awesome. Thumbs up if you understand what this has to do with this vid.

  • Oh, so that's how you make it. Time to go kill some people.

  • thumbs up if you're tired of people saying thumbs up if you.

  • Ancient yet Modern !!!!!!!!!

  • Make one without power tools and I'll be impressed.

  • @117ty i have

  • @117ty do the same with string for the handle it works better

  • @117ty i use to make Atlatl out of thick dried thistle stems, and darts out of pine tree branches, chipped concrete, crow feathers and fishing twine. when i was 15 me and my buddies would hunt snake and rabbits and fish with them,. lot of fun. super easy to make to. this guy's is weird tho, didn't have a big hole for the finger like his does. not knocking his, but that seems like a good way to break a finger :x

  • at the dump

  • sounds like a sex toy

  • thumbs up if u saw this thing on deadliest warrior

  • lol you dont need all that fancy stuff and his darts need to be longer and the fletching SUCKS

  • @achaser100 let me guess your fetching would be more fancy?

  • @riothero313 yes 3 halfs of turkey feathers

  • In Australia the Aborigines call it a woomera.

  • history can be awesome, i guess

  • @cristian3131

    REALLY?

  • That was made by the Aztects, it was mostly used by their Jaguar Warriors.

  • @SaberScorpion66 "Macahuitl", Jaguar and Eagle Warriors used to fight with a rare sword called macahuitl

  • down here in australia the aboriginal called it a woomera it was used to throw spears

  • i shot justin bieber with the atlatl

  • Did the ancients have drills too?!?!?!?!?! oh my gosh I never knew !!!!!!

  • whooo go elmers glue

  • The atlatl was invented by fully modern Homo sapiens. They may have been in use 15,000 years BP, but these ancient people were no more ape-like than humans in the present are.

  • ow imagine that thingy in soemones head lol

  • What does he do with all this stuff? He should do a vid to giv away stuff.

  • Nice, i made mine with Paper, Tape and some Card-board and a Nail as the point. I got it to fly 150 Feet, not to bad for paper.

  • buncha haters

  • Thanks to gravity youll hit the ground every time.

  • @Malaachi He means stuck in the ground.

  • @holycrapitstowlie No shit you say?

  • kipkay! on makemagizine?

  • @davisdanaamerica this is where he started =p

  • Wow! You hit the Earth!

  • Wow... Sir I can make this from a regular stick in about a minute with a pocket knife. I HAVE made this in a minute with a pocket knife, and it worked BETTER than that machined piece.

  • It doesnt launch spears, it launches darts. The darts are different than spears in that they are flexible, and act much more like an arrow than a spear. If a spear were to be used on an atlatl, it wouldn't go anywhere near as far as a dart would, because when the dart flexes, and the tip (which should be some other material, not just sharpened) resists, it build kinetic energy which actually causes it to accellerate much faster than if you were to just throw it. Otherwise the atlatl is useless.

  • Know go out and get arrow tips

  • i saw this on deadliest warrior

  • or you could use a pencil sharpener on the arrows

  • like if you watck kipkay's videos but dont do the projects

  • "Look at that, right in the ground"

Where were you EXPECTING it to go?

  • you can hunt with these, at least in missouri.

  • this would be my weapon of choice to assasin justin bieber

  • this is one deadliest warrior :)

  • If only this video was up when I had my ninth grade wood shop class. I would've atlatled the shit out of everything.

  • the retard didint attach his fletchings right

  • 60 ppl have killed someone and had to pay more that was worth

  • @neutronJK and 1008 people have killed their rivals ang got away with it. :)

  • Anceint yet modren im going to be thinking about that all night

  • hmm.. people owned drill and saber saws in ancient times??? :0

  • @HabboFiz and razor knives???

  • where is the old kipkay? :(

  • @LittlemanDR this is old kipkay.

  • Oh i gona atlatl shit out of this atlatl while atlatl it all up

  • And for 2 cents, melt down 2 pennies (pun pun) zinc pennies of course, and coat la end.

  • It's fun to say

  • so its a SMALL hole?

  • if you round off the peg, go get a much more accurate shot

  • 4:39 i dont think so

  • I love how we need instructions to make something that ancient ape-like people created.

  • @Raiffjr Created by "ape-like" people? That's if you believe that human beings were ape-like 19,000 years ago. And if you do believe that, you need to go back to school!

  • @Raiffjr Those ancient people needed instructions too except their version of youtube was their parents actually teaching them skills they will need in life.

  • @Raiffjr maybe because we dont think about using a spear to shoot a mammoth anymore. Even if we had the mammoth we wouldnt use a spear we'd nuke the betch.

  • @Raiffjr They weren't ape-like... that was our species lol. And also, I'd hardy call native americans "ape like."

  • @Raiffjr Theirs No Such Thing As Ape Like People Haha

  • @xInfected27x not anymore at least. there used to be tho

  • @strawsparky33 There Never Used To Be Or Else We Would See Fossil Silly.

  • @xInfected27x We do see fossils. Quite a few fossils, in fact. Educate yourself with a five second google search for Homo Erectus, Neanderthal, or even, going way back, Australopithecus.

  • @Mandolinpossum A Primate Smarter Than A Monkey Not Survive Wow Why Havent This Gone On The News Holy Shit!! Ur A Genius

  • @xInfected27x I take it English isn't your first language.

  • @Mandolinpossum

    You got the point.

  • @a22ming Honestly, all I saw was a mess of words. If there was a point it was lost in some of the worst grammar I've come across.

  • @Mandolinpossum You Know Im Right Hah ;D. How Does Something Smarter Than A Monkey Become Extinct?

  • @xInfected27x The same way anything else becomes extinct. Either by being phased out through natural selection, or through some event which resulted in the species being killed off.

  • @Mandolinpossum Hahah! Well Thats Natural Selection Sucking Ass Isnt It. Haha That Explains Why Natural Selection Let Us Survive???

  • @Raiffjr The atlatl was made by the aAztecs they where very advanced for their time. They where very advanced for their time.

  • @Raiffjr The people who made and used these weren't ape-like. They were entirely modern humans, indistinguishable, biologically, from people today. They were every bit as smart as we are.

  • @aischros Indistinguishable except for their horrific smell. They lived in a world with no soap, deordorant/anti-perspirant, douches, or toilet paper.

Wait, I guess they would pretty much smell like Arabs. Never mind. You were right.

  • @Raiffjr

They were not ape-like, they were already homo sapiens, and even so, they needed hundreds of years to create this. It's not so easy to make or to use.

This one wors but it's very lame.

  • Ancient ape like people were probably in many cases smarter than we are... Yeah we have computers and stuff, but that doesn't mean we know how they work or how to make them... I have a feeling that if we took 5, 6 or 7 young human beings from ages 20 - 30 years old from this time period from a "modern" society, left them in the middle of no where, with nothing, and said, go not die for 1 year. They would all die... Just because you can use a computer, doesn't mean you're "smart"...

  • @ChamorruWarrior

i have a feeling that if we took 5,6 of 7 young human beings from ages 20-30 years old from that time and placed them in our "modern" society, told them to be an engineer, businessman, accountant etc. for a year they would fail. not saying were smarter or dumber today. im just saying you cant compare intelligence by comparing a skill such as surviving or using computers.

  • That's my point... Human beings have the same exact intellegence back when Atlatls were in use as we do today... We know alot more today, but it's annoying when people act like the people that used the atlatl came upon it on accident or something. A HUMAN BEING (Not a monkey like freak) had to have sat down, done some form of basic Physics in his mind in order to figure out that creating leverage by making his arm longer via "atlatl" he can throw a dart much harder and farther. THAT'S my point

  • @Raiffjr

No one was ape-like by then. They'd have been the same as the people walking around today, minus the technology and culture.

  • lol Try making a simple sling out of a piece of leather and some shoe loaces. You'd be surprised how far over tree lines you can easily toss whole bricks. Can easily launch a couple of football fields after some pratice swinging and releasing.

  • i like my made from scraps atlatl better.

  • why not use a pencil sharpener to sharpen end?

  • yay i can kill a mammoth!! in 2011!! and for the saber saw, use a mammoth saber!

  • yay i can kill a mammoth!! in 2011!!

  • Ok I'm no purist by any stretch... I even love to use modern day metal tools and wood and all that, but COME ON!!! it's a 10 thousand year old tool please don't teach us how to "Make an atlatl" with power tools. It involves a stick, another stick, and a sharpened rock... maybe we could put siding and a front door on a teepee in the next video. This is a major fail, no matter how well your aparatus (I will not call your device an atlatl) worked.

  • I only clicked because it said "deadly" :p

  • i have a real atlatl with spear from my grandpa and im only13

  • hey I remember makin one of these when I was 17 in carpentry class.made mine out of Red Cedar though cause it smelled nice.lolz.had to use Gorilla Glue though on the peg cause I didnt get it right where it wiggled too much and I just wanted to finish it soon cause it was close to the end of the school year, but in the end it worked just as great.I plan on making another one using this as a guide.great job KipKay!keep those videos coming.your going to be the next Magiver someday!lmao.

  • Aborigines invented their own one similar to this bloody amazonians reaping all the glory and they just call them spears not fucking atlatl

  • Nice throw.

  • THUMBS UP!!!
