  • well said sir

  • COOL STORY BRO...

  • Heroes can never exist in modern day, because nostalgia retroactively invents them.

  • RIP

  • "Being heroic means doing something that risks your own life while you're saving someone else's." By that standard Captain Sullenberger, referenced here by Andy Rooney, wasn't technically doing something heroic because, let's remember, he was on that plane too and if he wanted to live he had no choice but to find a way to land it. Great pilot and cool under pressure, but a 'hero'? When Lenny Skutnik dove into the freezing Potomac River to save a drowning crash victim, that was a heroic act!

  • Assange is a modern day hero

  • I'M SUPERMAN!

  • Ron Paul=Hero

  • 1:42 Sparta reference?!

  • Malalai Joya is a hero! People standing against injustice are heroes!

  • Steve Molz, Linda Tibbett, Wayne White, "jetson" (wherever you are)

.....and Forrest Gump are all hereos in my eyes.

There are hereos everywhere..... unfortunately, far to many are "unsung"

  • Bruce Jenner and the Kardashians are my heros

  • It is amazing that the context of people can change them so much... why is it so hard to feel camaraderie to other human beings just because we can't know everyone on an equally intimate level?

Just because someone is a stranger doesn't mean that they deserve any less respect than a family member.

  • You want to know where the heroes are, their the ones waking up at 5 am every morning going to work, putting food on the table and paying the bills. Those people are the real heroes of today.

  • @Gaelheretic4 No, that's just what human beings do. If you want to lower the standard of humanity, a good way is to say normality is extraordinary.

  • @Gaelheretic4 People are so starved for heroes to look up to, some proclaim rather ordinary deeds as heroic.

  • @TomBrooklyn There are heroes, you just have to see. It is because of those people that I listed 10 months ago that the entire world has a better standard of living. And the American Marines of course.

  • @Gaelheretic4 people did that back in the ww2 days as well, they have always done that, it's mildly heroic but not life-threatening heroism...

  • @hieraxhideo Bad example to use especially from that generation, that entire generation except for a small few are heroes. The young men and women of that generation in America changed the world, why is it so hard to believe that normal people are heroes? I don't get it, there are very much worse people.

  • @Gaelheretic4 well if you want to classify almost everyone as 'heroes' then we need to invent a new word for the life-riskingly courageous

  • @Gaelheretic4 Heroes? Hardly but thats as high as a normal person can do these days.

  • @TheIcelandicPatriot I've been delving into history of the middle-east and I have to say that any force that goes against the evil of Terrorism within Islam is a hero of mine. Now don't mistake my disdain for Islam the same as Muslims. Peaceful Muslims have gathered in Israel and all around the world to send a message of peace instead of death. What happens to them, they are either called Zionist schemers or Heretics. Betrayers of faith because they want peace.

  • @Gaelheretic4 I know exacly what you mean.

  • @TheIcelandicPatriot Well thank you for understanding my point of view, even if you don't agree with it. One more thing I'd like to add is that I have a book on how to speak Icelandic and now I would like to say Blessathur.

  • @Gaelheretic4 And i thank you for an intresting talks.

P.S. The word Blessaður is usually meant when one says whats up. But Vertu Blessaður is the good bye term.

Anyway have a jolly good day :)

  • @TheIcelandicPatriot Either that or killed on the spot in front of hundreds of people.

  • You don't need a war to be heroic.

  • Andy I love you !!!

  • just being there made you a hero huh..... i thought you said a hero means risking your life for someone else. i guess that goes for everyone else but you!

  • "Hero @ his newspaper " not a hero to us all just his newspaper. Hero can mean a lot of things And unless you know the entire story about the background shush your mouth, Who knows maybe where they landed wasnt save

  • @cainedbutabel : I know it's been like a year since you made this comment but I would like to point out your hearing isn't that good. He said just being there made him a hero at the newspaper ( Because he was a reporter for them and that was a great story that they could cover because of him. ).

  • you serve because you lack in brain cells and the idea of being a pawn in our corrupted governments schemes gives you a boner.

  • and to think that i serve so that you can say this kind of bullshit

  • its been dog track time for rooney 20 years ago.....its played so played,,,pin a note to his golf jacket leslie!

  • How about the millitary. WE ARE AT WAR!!!
