  • I saw this movie with my girlfriend years ago and we both loved it; it was kinda ''our movie', y'know? We got engaged in 2006 and I remember watching this film at her parents house a second time. 4 years ago she died after suffering s head injury from a cerebral haemorrhage. I was devastated. This film has always reminded me of her and made me think, if I could only go back; be with her again. I'd travel across time to see her again if I could. But I totally identify with Richard at the end of

  • @Ryan109b I'm so sorry for you and I know exactly what you mean. But if I understand the ending of this film right, you will one day meet her again, I'm sure she will be waiting for you Just like Elise did. But at least you can go back in your mind and recall all these good memories,, that is also in a way going back in time.

  • @Ryan109b So sorry to hear that news. I would be devastated too if that happened to me. God bless you.

  • Simple classic romantic "tragic" movie with a great lyrical score and finely photographed BUT poorly edited and the lead male actor is .... You can't go home again Virginia - the past is the past and NO one can reasonably predict the future so: live for the now, live in the present, do your best, try to be kind to as many people that you meet in the all too brief time that everyone has on earth and try to make this microscopic speck in the universie a tiny bit better because of what you do.

  • Awesome! Almost brought me to tears..

  • @kathykittie she couldnt write the note because she didnt know that was the reason why he left like lol it wouldnt have made the film interesting the way it is like.

  • this movie has been one of my favorites for 20 years.. the first time i saw it was at the cine' capri with my girlfriend they were having a valentines day double feature matinee .. my girlfriend died later that year ... this movie still makes me cry .... stupid penny ... man they dont make movies like they used to ... ok well the notebook came pretty close ... lol

  • i forgot he died!!!!! i thought he went back again!!!!!!?

  • it's so beautiful and so sad, very haunting.

  • wtf ! he dies ? o i hate my life.

  • Great casting , although Richard annoys me with his constant pestering of here in the beginning. The book has a final encounter with Robertson , but is very very slow and Richard is more frustrating to take as well.

  • One of the most beautiful movie ever made...

  • beautiful

  • his eyes are so expressive

  • obrigado amigo, por ter postado esta parte do filme, da maneira como era prá ser.

    original e sem adulteração. grata.

    ananda.

Honour to the only one great LOVE!

  • Just holding hands, what? Give us a KISS! Ah, well, glad to have it over with now... except now I have to read the book... I'm stuck!

  • Por que ya no veo peliculas como esta en estos tiempos? La musica, la actuacion, las locaciones....

  • Ahaa the score was composed by John Barry, that would explain why it has so many similarities with his score for Chaplin (1992) :D beautiful movie!!!!

  • Thanks for posting this movie i really enjoyed it although it was very heartbreaking at the end though at least it was a good movie it was very romantic and sad but still i think now its wanna my favorite movies i love Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour in this movie they were such great couple. :) R.I.P Christopher Reeve :(

  • this is such a great and melancholic movie, the acting is superb with Chris Reeves and Jane Seymour, I love them both in this movie.

  • Considering Christopher Reeve's life, one has to wonder how much he viewed his pre-accident life as being in another realm. This film is oddly prophetic in that respect. I hope that he's back in his perfect body, somewhere, now...

  • I love this movie. It is so sad, but sweet:)

  • She looks so gawjus when she holds her hand out for him at the end, so innocent and happy and not sour toward the years without him, but graceful to the time she has now with him in spirit <3 god that aches my heart.....BEAUTIFUL.

  • The Dream Within a Dream - Take this kiss upon the brow! And, in parting from you now, Thus much let me avow- You are not wrong, who deem That my days have been a dream; Yet if hope has flown away In a night, or in a day, In a vision, or in none, Is it therefore the less gone? All that we see or seem Is but a dream within a dream.
  • I stand amid the roar Of a surf-tormented shore, And I hold within my hand Grains of the golden sand- How few! yet how they creep Through my fingers to the deep, While I weep- while I weep! O God! can I not grasp Them with a tighter clasp? O God! can I not save One from the pitiless wave? Is all that we see or seem But a dream within a dream?
  • What a beautiful movie! Both visually as well as emotionally. I just cried my eyes out. Thanks for posting!!

  • The last time that he ate was Chicken.. =(

  • OMG this film is so so sad if the music doesn't make u weep nothing will, I saw this in the 80s and i felt the the same then, thanks for posting the whole movie I just watched it.

  • Ya'll have to understand is that you CANNOT change the future. The scene where reeves sees that he signed the book in 1912 is the real wakeup call. He would have to stop and say to himself.."wait..if I had gone back to live in the past and be with her forever..why am I STANDING HERE NOW??" The mere fact that elise had grown into an old woman without him is the clue that it didnt go according to plan. Great movie, if you believe in the afterlife..but DEVASTATING if u do do not.

  • @mornay77

EXCEPT ... there's the theory that a tangential timeline is created for each decision made. For example, on one timeline, a version of himself stayed in 1912 with Elise. On another, he's in 1971, staring at her portrait. Hell, on another, he may be in the role of Robinson. Souls in this kind of bind tend to switch out roles and try all sorts of things until they get it right -- whatever that may be.

    At least, in my understanding.

  • @mornay77 you have to read/watch "timeline". if you believe the theory in there, people can have all kinds of different futures. when I´m in a wheel chair cause of some accident and i somehow get into the past (in my old body^^) and like i.e. don´t get into the car which caused the accident, then there will be one future with me being in a wheel-chair, and one with me living like i used to.^^ It´s a great book, you should read it :D

  • si seulement je pouvais revenir un jour au passè

  • Watching him caress the portrait and trying to hold onto it is the most heartbreaking scene in the film. Cry my eyes out every single time I see that scene.

  • Thanks for posting these videos. This is my most favourite movie of all time. The music is so moving, Ive made a few tributes on my channel too, Enjoying your channel immensely, thanks again, keep up the good work :-)

  • I think the movie was ok and I understand why some people love it more than others. I, personally, could not get invested in their love because I don't understand what it's based on. They met once, talked for a while and suddenly their in love? So in love he wants to die? I'm glad I saw it but was expecting more.

  • Still moves me after all these years...

  • I was dreading looking at him at the end but it wasn't as bad as I thought I could remember. Still, as a child, I thought it was a lot worse... x

  • The score for the movie and theme song are very moving!

  • @Beesh03 sounds almost exactly like the Chaplin-score from the 1992-movie :D

  • @Stravinsky91 makes sense. both John Barry, which I did not know. I've never seen Chaplin, but now I will see it.

  • I don't know what makes me cry more; the story of the character or the actor.

I find it hard for me to separate them...

  • Sad to check on the actors and actresses and find that a lot of them have continued their journey Somewhere In Time....

  • im so impressed with this movie! a love story that touched my heart! I love it! i will watch it over & over again!

  • The ultimate connection between two people is one that transcends time

  • Have seen this film many times in the past but was great to see it again. The ending is very powerful and its not everyday you see a man sobbing his heart out for love. The saddest thing for me was the fact that she lived 60 odd years without the man she loved, never knowing what happened.

Even when she gave him the watch she could not even hug him or kiss him or tell him who she was.

Amazing film ..thanks so much for upload.

  • He died of a broken heart. So did my great-grandmother 6 months after my great-grand father.

  • This movie reminds me of another film with a similar theme, "Portrait of Jennie" with Joesph Cotten and Jennifer Jones. Thanks blueblade1544.

  • if he had of had his superman costume under that suit he could have flown back to 1912

  • i was reading some of the comments on this movie i see the ending was not for some but the ending is the best part, its so powerful and when you see the movie for the first time without knowing the plot the penny scene comes out of nowhere, its an absolute heart breaker

  • that a great lesson guys if ur loved one(s) dies kill urself so that u can be reunited with s/he(s) in heaven

  • OMG- why couldn't the old lady Elise have given him the watch and maybe a note that he should check all pockets for NO PENNIES!!!!!

  • @kathykittie I don't think Elise knew that it was a pennie that Richard drew from his pocket

  • @kathykittie lol i thought the same thing. she had like 70 years to plan

  • @kathykittie im guessing she didnt know what was in his hand. from her point of view he got that freaked out look on his face and most likely he suddenly faded away in a matter of seconds

  • @kathykittie totally agree with you

  • my grandfather died today. i played this movie in his honor because he took me to the grand hotel when i was young. i love you grand dad.

  • @burdog309 I'm sorry for your loss ....your comment is a very touching tribute to your relationship with your grandfather ...your grand dad

    thank-you for sharing

    respect

  • they should of given this movie twice its budget and advertise the crap out of it so everyone could see what true love is :)

  • Do you ever really, really want to rewrite an ending? This one is SO rewritable, in fact it doesn't make any sense at all as written. What the HELL!? What would you do if you got yanked away from your lover? Pine away & die? No! Especially not Richard. If you did it once, you can do it again. You spend as much time recovering & pondering as you need. Then you buy a new suit, make damn sure there are no current-day coins in the pocket, and get your ass back.

    That said, I love it!

  • I didn't see him giving her the watch so how did she have it to give to him in the beginning. Did I miss something? The ending was stupid. It ruined the movie for me.

  • @hjb103055 She grabbed the watch to see what time it was and was still holding it when he vanished, and yeah the ending has always bothered me. It's like they ran out of time, or maybe money, and cut it short. Not to criticize some thing I've watched like 20 times. :)

  • @GSteveHyland Making a movie with not enough money or time is no different then publishing a book before it's finished.

  • @GSteveHyland lmao u rite abt the new suit

  • blueblade, thank you for uploading the full version of Somewhere In Time. I'm a romantic & I absolutely adore this movie. Can't thank you enough for this Heart tugging movie that keeps drawing me into this world. I will deffenently be back very soon to watch again. God Bless & Peace be with you.

  • Man, the book was so much better! Glad I read it before seeing the movie.

  • @musicalsgal2007

Yes Richard died and was reunited with her because she died too but of age, shes that old lady from the beggining of the movie.

  • The framed picture of Elise with the light radiating above her is the single most beautiful image I have ever seen..........

I wish I was young again and had a second chance to re capture the emotions that filled Richard when he touched her image.............

  • I frist saw this movie on tv and didnt realize it was a cult film but the love that Richard and Elise share is true love if you dont cry by the end of this movie you have no hart true love happens only once a life time.

  • Its one of the classic romantic movie and probably the one of the best movie ever made............I hope the young directors could make this kind of movie that will touch everyone who will watched..It will really move you to its depths of your soul.. I Thank I have to give thanks to the one post this video,I have been searching for this for a quite sometime now..at last I watch it over and over again..

  • @LadyMystique05: Somewhere In Time was made almost 20 years before the "movie" titanic and the ending of Somewhere In Time was BLATANTLY ripped off FOR AN INFERIOR VERSION by cameron when the two children reunite in the "movie" titanic.

  • Studied film (in film school). Am a "film snob" in every meaning of the term and no one has ever accused me of being sentimental.

One nite finishing up on the computer the very ending of Somewhere in Time was on some channel and I started watching out of curiosity as "Richard" was dying. Then it went to him meeting Jane Seymour again and THAT theme song came on and I was mesmerized. The whole white ethereal scene along with THAT THEME.

Not my kind of movie but it IS a beautiful film.

  • the music is the frosting on the cake,as music always is. my wife passed away 3 years ago and i spent the better part of a year in a chair just like that.unfortunately i was found in time.

  • @bwidowerob sorry for your loss ...I hope you are feeling peace now

  • i saw this movie probably 25 years ago and really loved it and i have just seen it again. i am actually more appreciative and glad that there's such movie to inspire us. i wish we can all try to get our kids to watch it so that they can learn a higher standard of what love is.

  • christopher reeves, what a man. this is the end of the movie, he died and was reunited with mckenna, you,ll see him smile as thir calling an ambulance and then he's looking down at himself as he goes to the light.great movie, one of the very best

  • Movie critics were not kind to this movie. It was not a box office hit but funny how somewhere in time it has found an almost cult following I have read with a very large fan club that meets at the Grand Hotel each year. I can't believe the incredbiel music didn't when an Acandemy Award. I thought Christopher Reeve did an excellent job acting so sad he has now passed.

  • What I like is that he connected with her and felt a bond, even when he first laid eyes on her picture, even across a gulf of time. That speaks to the capacity we all have to reach out and connect with one another. I have been moved by the death of Socrates and a prehistoric man whose bones show he was cared for by others after being injured. Moved greatly , even though there are thousands or millions of years between us. The capacity of human compassion is enormous if we give it a chance.

  • @dtstrain well written,well thought out,well done...b...

  • @dtstrain I totally agree with "The capacity of human compassion is enormous" powerful

    thanks for sharing

  • WHAT? thats all !!!! thats not fair !!!

  • thanks for posting the whole movie, Good thing it did not explain the real reason of his death based on the original novel.

  • @sagebun= hey der,I saw ur post..what was the tittle of the original movie????????please do reply...........Thanks,I will be waiting for the response...I have been the follower of this movie since I first saw the movie way back in 1996,I was still at my elementary when my mom watched this movie..and since then It became my most favorite movie until I grow old.......

  • @xhylhux1587 This movie was adapted from Richard Matheson's 1975 novel with the original title "Bid Time Return"

  • Shit! what a sad but lovable story,

  • can we still find such kind of LOVE nowadays or is there any person who'd travel thru time for love?

  • can we still find such kind of love nowadays??? hmmmm...... just wnderng

  • So sad:( I'm am bawling.

  • @BFF1012

  • How long does it take to forget? Can we forget? Can we survive to a tremendous lost in our life?...

I like this scene: it's a good way and a good music which shows how pain, hurt, souvenirs can erase your mind and your own personality, until you lost the sense of life itself.

At last, the portrait scene mean so much to me...

  • One of the greatest love stories of all times! 5 stars....

  • oh my christ i've had too much wine i've cried a justin timberlake's river and a sea for joanna newsom to sail on bloody hell what a great film

  • True love really does TRIUMPH!!! The best Romantic movie I have EVER seen.

  • I rediscovered this movie after not having seen it in many years. Hard to believe that CR is gone and would suffer such a terrible fate as a quad. This was the "other movie" he did. Makes us all believe in love, even in these bitter times where so many of us feel so lonely.

  • thanks for posting - the love that many long for and never find.

  • Thx... this is true love..

  • oh my god how gorgeous is this....I sobbed my heart out.....Christopher Reeves..Rest in Peace xxxxx

  • This video is so cool. I love the endin! i felt soory when he died though! We will all miss you!

  • I don't want to be hunted down and burned as a witch, but I didn't care for the ending. I really wish they could have been in an earthly setting when they reunited. I wanted them to live a full life together and then die together. None of this being together eternally crap. It's way too vague. I would much rather see them reunited in a way that shows us that they will live ordinary human lives together. You know, get married, have babies, grow old. Them pass away together. That kind of thing....

  • This is such a great movie... I was 9 when this was on TV and I remember being VERY upset.. My mom picked me up off the floor trying to reassure me that Chris was just fine and was just acting... I was fighting her and was SOBBING... I hope that when I die my dad will be there along with my mom... Only then will I ever be happy again.. I lost my Dad last year and I Sill miss him... (crying)

  • "Its better to have loved and lost then to never have loved at all."

    Bullshit, its hell.

  • this only goes to say that evil/hardship/shortcomings are only temporary.. man's will to survive, to love and to cherish will ultimately triumph..

  • i saw this movie at 12 in 1981

i couldnt sleep for a week

    this movie really affected me

  • luv it xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • Cry every time.

  • wow... im speechless.. i've seen this countless of times and it still leaves me speechless

  • He died of a broken heart and was reunited with her in the end, So Beautiful. I guess you have to be old in spirit or years to truly understand the depth of this film. Thank you for posting.

  • good comment ScotsLass

i have longed for death a few times

    and finally

am glad that i m here

  • I don't cry easily... but this makes me cry somehow.

    Very beautiful movie!

    RIP Christopher Reeve.

  • You've got to be kidding me!! Did he die? What happened?

  • @abigailm32 Christopher did ...sorry ....wikipedia has his Life and death well documented ...hope this is helpful even though it is a long time after you asked

  • One true love story...

  • Te Amo cariñooo

  • I just bawl when he says he hasn't eaten in a week.

    So sad.

  • bittersweet.

    Christopher Reeve- SO handsome

  • when i first saw this movie, at the end, I was just... shocked, really. I was specting another end. i kept thinking about it like 3 or 4 days... and i started searching for information in the web and then i realized that is a cult movie... really, excellent!!

  • wow..what can anyone say? this movie captures the feeling of true love. The kind that feels like its wringing the last drops of your heart out if you're separated..the love you live a lifetime to find..which you can never really understand until you've been overwhelmed by it yourself. The essence of what life is all about!

  • Have you ever looked for a specific version of a piece of music or song and never quite find it? Or a specific feeling of music? I think it is the context surounding that piece of music which captures the emotion. Not the music itself.

  • this movie has always been a favorite. personally no other movie could compare. true love triumphs. one cannot see this movie and not cry.

  • @980064 I did ...it was a bit odd because I usually do cry when I watch movies

  • Damn, my handle is MAYHEMMAGNET and this movie makes me cry like a bitch.

  • I'm a big, crusty "John Wayne" kinda guy and this even makes me cry. At least at the end it was somewhat uplifting when they met in the final scene. It gave you hope that they did meet "somewhere in time".

  • @SpeedyNeutrino43 It was revealing to read that one who describes himself as a "big, crusty "John Wayne" kinda guy" can feel tender

    thanks for sharing

  • jdlaw001's right, it's somewhat similar to titanic. the outfits, the ambiance... almost exactly the same. i ran out of words to say..

  • @hannaharchuleta28: Somewhere In Time was made almost 20 years before the "movie" titanic and the ending of Somewhere In Time was BLATANTLY ripped off FOR AN INFERIOR VERSION by cameron when the two children reunite in the "movie" titanic.

  • great movie. though i'm only 14, i appreciate movies of that kind. tragic.. but GREAT.

  • @hannaharchuleta28 i'm fourteen, also...it wasn't that spectacular. xD

it wasn't bad, but it wasn't the notebook. :D

  • @RandomJonas

Lol the Notebook. It is not meant to be just a love story, it is a very deep movie if you watch it for what it is.

  • Marvellous.... I'm sitting here with great big, fat tears rolling down my cheeks :'(

  • The only person who made us believe a man could fly. We miss you!

  • that was wretching to watch him slip away from her but i knew when he had a smile on his face he met her again...thank you for uploading

  • This scene is very beautiful when he passes on & reunites with her in the afterlife. The melody is beautiful too.

  • I can't stop crying.......I would be devastated!!

  • God, I need more tissues!! Christopher Reeve was such a handsome man.

  • Christoper Reeve is a beautiful man in this lovely story.

  • poor guy

  • bloody hell, i cried so much...

  • Thank you for posting this movie :) And as I watching this movie, some scenes reminded me very much of Titianic. Like when Elise is looking into her vanity mirror and Christopher Plummer's character comes behind her. As well as the ending when they reunite. and some other things. Both are excellent movies!

  • I thought the exact same thing! And hey Titanic sunk in 1912 - same year!

  • a great movie indeed.

Only those who understand the depth of true love and sincerity can understand its depth.

  • lol....watch wedding crashers...shes the mom that hits on owen wilson

  • q asco¡¡¡¡¡q cursi¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • this is so beautiful, thank you for posting

  • gets me right here <3 every time......

  • 1 Cor 13

  • Amen.

  • True love is when you go back in time to the person you took forgranted while you are still together, then you realize now how much the person means to you but sad, that person is already gone. You will realize how much the person means to you when she is gone.

  • totally agree.

people are most remembered when they are gone.....while it should be the other way, they should be treasured while they are with us ....

  • thx 4 the post!! such a beautiful and kind-heart movie with a great actor and actress

  • fanatic of such kind of love story,,, has anyone can be like them? in no time at all?GOD!!! what a movie! and guys listen the song with lyrics... one has sang by nonoy zuniga. just listen....

  • true love has no ending... it gives you all in all,, pain,, joy ,, laughter and tears... i hope i could feel this kind of feelings

  • God, this movie makes you fall in love with it before breaking your heart.

  • I hope before I'm an old man (I'm in my 30s) I'll be able to know what true love is.

  • I agree with you dude!

  • the end is so sad...

  • this movie is beautiful...the best i've ever seen...

  • *sniff*... :(

  • thanks. im just wondering did he commit suicide??? is he seeing her in heaven?

  • Blueblade, thank you so much for putting this up. I first watched this film when I was very young yet I was so touched by it.

When I was in primary school, I was so excited to find the music sheet for the film's theme song. As I play the piano, the music brought memories of the film back to me.

I can't believe after more than 20 years, I'm watching this again.

    So, thank you!

  • this was beautifule and made me cry

  • I agree mr avenido HAHAHA

  • Anak ng tipaklong. So wonderful.
