Her's the answer to your "Ultimate question". Birdo can be male or female just like Yoshi. But when they are paired together, Birdo is female and Yoshi is Male in the main games. SMB2 was a Male Birdo. in Superstar Sega it was Male but in MP7 and MP8 and Toadstool Tour and etc, it's female. There you go. I read the SMB2 manual on my bus ride back home as a kid when I started playing the game and noticed the detail. Didn't perturb me one bit in text or graphical form. Real trannies I still have trouble getting used to, but I support their rights. I still think it's only a problem by perception. I beleive "Yoshi" and "Birdo" refer to the common green and pink dinos repectivly. For we all know that the Yoshi like dino are several different colours, with Yoshi himself being a unique, bright green, dinosaur. The same i could assume for Birdo.
