@DETPower Wrong. Even if I choose to say the wind doesn't exist, if I was in New Orleans during Katrina I would still have been affected by it in a very real way that I could measure. I can measure the force it exerts on objects and there would be no other simpler explanation other than the wind. However, with God, the most likely explanation considering lack of evidence for his existence would be he was created by humans since he has no obvious effect in the world.

@rmarcontell - I must disagree in that I know many examples of children who do attend Christian churches and practice Biblical Christian faith who come from non Christian, non-church attending families. @DETPower Wrong. Even if I choose to say the wind doesn't exist, if I was in New Orleans during Katrina I would still have been affected by it in a very real way that I could measure. I can measure the force it exerts on objects and there would be no other simpler explanation other than the wind. However, with God, the most likely explanation considering lack of evidence for his existence would be he was created by humans since he has no obvious effect in the world.

It tells people that they are never alone and that they will be forgiven for everything they do. I like Jesus's teachings although much of what is written in the Bible was a later fabrication. No matter how good faith may be for certain people it doesn't make it true. The only reason Christianity is so popular is because of Constantine and the crusades, not God.

This is so sad and disturbing.... Whenever I see these people, the kids are what get me. They'll grow up believing in this bullshit; their parents are probably there because they were little kids like the ones featured here too. I personally think that children should not be sent to church or mosque or synagogue at all until they can grasp the ideas and make an informed decision (and they should not be forced to go there either). It's not ''teaching them faith'', it's brainwashing them.

What we do have, though, is stuff like progressive and secular marriage laws, religion virtually removed from politics (aside from a few minor, dying political parties still active), laws protecting HBT people from discrimination, pretty much no religious schools and very few circumcisions. @tweethang1 Yep, you are right. All fundamentalists are mental. I know a fundamentalist preacher who started a shelter to feed,cloth and house the homeless. He does it without one penny
