  • "you, you're a history in rust" will always be one of my favorite albums of all time. How did this amazing piece of work not get more recognition? blah.

  • This song instantly relaxes me.

  • This song takes me away from all the negative things I am around.

  • Anyone else notice the sound guy at 2:50?? haha

  • with great moustache comes great responsibility

  • Anyone that dislikes this song hates music and beauty.

  • Nothing Lime DMST this is beyond music its an escape from the universe the escape from pain, stress its like diving into a cup of tea and swimming joyously forever. I find this as my ultimate influence in the music i make. Nothing beats it nothing at all

  • just discovered this beautiful music today. during my lunch a nice sunshine & these sweet melodies accompanied me :>

  • Love love love.

  • DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE TO FIND MORE OF THIS FOLK-ROCK INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC? its pretty amazing. i just can't find like any songs that are really good quality like this.

  • That melody is beautiful.

  • I first saw this ages ago, when I had never even heard of post rock, but I thought then that this was just awesome. I'm so glad to have rediscovered this, and to find I still think it's awesome. :)

  • a bunch of skinny fucks in a field playing... whatever this is. sometimes i almost feel good about being canadian.

  • Bravo -- Very sweet & tender folk-blues post-rock instrumental diddley-thang w/ bittersweet lullaby overtones -- splendid violin & brass segueway arrangement.

    NICE!!!!

    ThanX fer the treat!

  • wtf why the hell do people call this post rock. a generalization by concencus must be reached. It's not fair that when i try to find bands similar to this will destroy you and eits i get this....like honestly, wtf?

  • @oJKBo You get this because these guys probably influenced This Will Destroy You in some way.

  • @Pukert2946 i hate mogwai, their stuff is always so different. I only like a few of their songs and hate the rest

  • this is great, but it's not really post-rock. i'm not trying to start a debate about post-rock, i'm just saying this really isn't typical post-rock, its more like instrumental folk-rock

  • @l0c0m0nster This song in particular, maybe, but plenty other Do Make songs have a very post rock feel. It's just seems to me they are multi-instrumentalists, all of them, and that they are masters of editing, mixing and mastering. Some of these techniques are not widely used, not even in the spectrum of folk rock or post rock - they have defined a genre to themselves.

  • @l0c0m0nster i agree, and i really wish there was more of this around.

  • this song is fucking raw, great outdoors song!

  • It's so nice to find a post-rock song that lasts less than a week.

  • Why is the woman not doing topless?

  • Man, this is pretty.

  • almost all their songs remind me of nostalgia i have not even experienced before.

  • @jiniton wow. you're good... bulls eye.

  • @jiniton You just described in a few words a feeling that has taken me years to explain.

  • Ah this is too jam bandy. What happened to the old do make say think, it used to be about the jam. Now it's about being jam bandy, that's too self referential.

  • @SandraBullcocked Shhhhhhhhhhhh.

  • SNORE

  • ¡Ey!,que buena canción.

  • a melhor descoberta de 2010. alguém traga esses caras para o Brasil.

  • The acoustic player looks like ron block.

  • 1:28 when she comes in with the violin~!!!

  • why is everyone so clingy to post-rock when they've just discovered it ? It's okay to like music with vocals or even commercial 4chordmusic. The best musician is an allrounder :)

  • @BelgianBass dude...some Post-Rock has vocals in it...and everyone is so clingy to it cuz it's one of the most beautiful musical genres around...its all about emotion and orchestrating the art of creating feeling in an individual...plus its great when your stoned :)

  • @BelgianBass dude...some Post-Rock has vocals in it...I mean doesn't everyone consider broken social scene to be post rock? they have vocals and everyone is so clingy to it cuz it's one of the most beautiful musical genres around...its all about emotion and orchestrating the art of creating feeling in an individual...plus its great when your stoned :)

  • hooray for flugel horns! and this amazing band

  • they guy who's playing the acoustic with the moustache, he's from broken social scene, yes?

  • @iunnodiapeys it's the otherway around bruv'

  • @iunnodiapeys yis indeed, mr Charles Spearin.

  • @iunnodiapeys he's in DMST, but yeah he makes some appearances with BSS too

  • @iunnodiapeys yep, charles spearin plays for bss as well as do make say think

  • i didnt think i'ld like do make say think, turns out i couldn't have been more wrong!!

  • when this song ended for the first time i heard, i felt the same sensation of when I close a wonderful book, bittersweet butterlfies in my stomach.

  • finger pickin' good!

  • Ceol an-suaimhneach is ea é seo. Meas mór.

  • beautiful

  • nice nice song ... smooooth

  • This is fantastic! I first heard this on KUCI a few days ago and was blown away. Unfortunately, the host of the show took AGES to announce what this was, so I didn't find it out until I looked it up online. These guys are great. I'd totally love to play a show with them, whether its as a solo act, or with the Surrenders, Sister Rogers, etc.

  • Que bien suena ese fliscorno.me gusta.

  • I love this, Do Make Say Think are my favourite.

  • mmkay

  • nature

  • Which album is this off of?

  • Beautiful.

  • anybody know a torrent for this song?

  • @kentj2277 Nope, guess you'll just have to buy it

  • @kentj2277 Hey buddy, maybe you should actually just BUY this album. It's worth it, and it's artists like these that are suffering from piracy.

  • shirts off! lets jam

  • Awesome tune. :)

  • Sick video

  • this song is devine! i am compleatly hooked :) with no intentions on trying to get loose

  • this is probably one of the most beautiful videos on youtube

  • Charles Spearin, I love you

  • If I were an orange, what colour would I be?

  • Genre: Music for Musicians...

    end of that discussion

  • well said

  • Well except no instead it's music for like everyday anything.

  • its just great music that perfectly expresses the emotions they felt when they were recording. its instrumental, so the emotional investment you attach to this song is entirely your own. no genre need apply.

  • Folk. Not jazz classical or post rock. So obvious.

  • no...most definitely post rock...this band is known as a post rock band. jazz and folk can both fall into the catagory

  • Well I'm not going to argue because I don't really like them, and maybe you know something I don't. Pretty bland if you ask me. Cheers!

  • is a lot closer to jazz than classical.

  • I have a feeling that im gonna get really into this band

  • honey honey...

  • yeah, this video just makes me thing honey :]

  • toni you sexy motherfucker!what's up?

  • Ayoye!! WoW!!

  • not sure, but this could be the greatest song i've ever heard

  • this is the sound my heart makes

  • And to think, I used to think instrumental music was all classical.

Thanks, Do Make Say Think, for opening my eyes.

  • The thing is, it is classical.

  • it's not classical. it's post rock.

  • Describe post rock.

  • you have heard of Jazz, right?

  • man, Tortoise, Upcdowncleftcrightabc+Start, Mogwai to name a few, get into it son.

  • @jenyouwhine

I've almost come to the conclusion that most music is better without vocals. I can't tell you how many times a great band is ruined by vocals. DMST is amazing.

  • @jenyouwhine The magnitude of the music spectrum never seizes to amaze me. There's incredible stuff out there that a lot of people don't know about. I just started exploring music, and I'm sure I've hardly put a dent in it. But this band, definitely gets the thumbs up.

  • @1PurpleElephant

your post exemplifies the constant "seeking" people have to find good or "true" music.

A lot of times those same people live their life in the same way, always open to new ideas, challenging the old yet always respecting where you came from or how you got there.

  • @jenyouwhine Listen to This Will Destroy You another great instrumental band

  • @jenyouwhine

You used to be dum ;) haha

  • That looked like a fun fucking jam

  • Fave Do Make Say Think song EVER! Fun to play too.

  • positive energy... yeaaaah...

  • I heart them. I've seen them live three times. I'm the luckiest kid on the block.

  • @esldave And now I'm the most jealous kid on the block :)

  • @esldave

I have seen them live once and is was PURE AWESOME

  • is there ANYWAYS of getting this version of the song???

  • you, you're a history in rust album ;)

  • no brozart, the version on the album is different, not saying that it's bad, i think it's spectacular but i was wondering if there's anyways of getting the version on this video.

  • well it's same just the beginning is cut of on this vid? why brozart?!

  • you could rip it off the web with some software or something...

  • ah it's ok to make melodic instrumental progressive music.

    nice.

  • This is one of those songs I dont mind playing over and over again. Its so amazing to listen too.

  • Comment removed

  • wow. great.

  • I love this side of them. They move much better as a band than broken social scene.

  • i love DMST!!!! <3

  • me 2 ;D

  • It'll be years before we'll be fully capable of understanding and appreciating how beautiful this music really is. It's way ahead of our time.

  • I meant to thumbs up it, but my hand slipped. But, I totally agree with what you're saying

  • lol lay off the weed man

the music's cool now don't worry

  • I love DSMT, lot of hope in their songs, like emerging from melancholy.

  • i love this version too, but the whistling in the album version, even though so simple, is so significant and perfect! But no matter what they do its amazing!

  • WOW

  • this just makes me feal all warm and fuzzy on the inside. Awsome

  • When i listened this song,i had this hallucination:I was standing in a field of wild flowers. The breez is carrying haunting scent.Sky is clear blue and there are snow covered mountains nearby.I would to be in such place

  • this place is called Switzerland bro

  • thumbed up

  • i thought its 'valley of flowers' in kashmir. But switzerlanfd is fine

  • <3. I'm a real sucker for peaceful guitar pieces.

  • This is what I fucking live for. These rare moments of musical perfection.

  • I prefer this version over the album version:)

  • Same here... absolutely beautiful.

  • meant kraftsman

  • Weird, i have an old krafter guitar, with the same head stock as the bassist.

  • Is anyone else album version slightly different to this?

  • Haha slightly? :D

My album version is slower.... And not recorded outdoors as far as I can tell. :)

  • No, but there is a field recording in the background if you listen carefully.

  • is it only instrumental?

maaaaan... but it's even good :P

  • Besides A Silver Mt. Zion, and Sigur Ros

  • and The Album Leaf, and mum, and Jeniferever, and Ef, and Yndi Halda, and Audrey, and Mogwai...

  • Yes it does... DMST themselves even sing in certain songs.

  • do make say think has singing.....

  • really good setting

  • they're good.

but what's with the drummer doing a traditional grip, backwards?

  • he's being american.

  • DMST is definitely a CANADIAN band.

  • he's left-handed

  • well, it shouldn't matter if you're right or left handed, you learn traditional the same way no matter what. But that drummer is surely Abstract.

  • Someone tab this out please.

  • What a good fucking song.

  • Great song

  • I think do make say think is a pretty cool guy, eh makes the best chill music and doesn't afraid of anything

  • wow great comment

  • Haha, that's just some old internet joke

"I think (something) is a pretty cool guy, eh (whatever he does) and doesn't afraid of anything."

    I wasn't being an asshole

  • ok?

  • You cannot compare any other band to Do Make Say Think, they are too great.
