you coulda just went with a i7 920 and over clock it to 4 ghz.

also u cannot go 285 tri sli on a p6t x58

because it only has 2 pci express 2.0 slots.and the gtx 285 would only go in pci-express 2.0 or it wouldn't fit.

also the positioning of the slots won't allow it to fit.

the last to slots(pci-express 2.0 and pci-express 1.0) are space too close together.

if you are just going to get a single card, get the GTX 295, but if you are thinking of expanding in the future, then get the gtx285.

No don't buy a GTX 295, the GTX 295 has a smaller bus, less effective memory (stores same data on both chips so ~200mb less memory then GTX 285) and the GTX 295 is extremely warm and likely to die fast just like my 9800GX2.

Not to mention the microstuttering the GTX 295 has (as shown in Trubritars videos)

The GTX 275 chip came out AFTER the GTX 295 so how is it possible that the GTX 295 contains 2 275 chips? Now, Stanbony, are the 260 chips in the 295 the 216 cores or the older edition of the 260? It is possible the 260 chips are factory OC'ed then installed in the case to make 295, there for giving you frame rates of a 275???

216 I believe, But I can tell yah your right, There not 275's thats for sure, 275's are 285's with less memory, A very serious card the 275's are, there another hybrid card that nvidia came out with and are priced very nicely, 1 275 against 1 285 would be pretty close in performance for allot less money, unless money is no object, the 275's are a better choice.

The GTX 285 is one GPU in the case. The GTX 295 is 2 GTX 280 boards squashed into a tight space. So when you use 2 GTX 295s in SLI, you actually using 4 GPU's resulting in Quad SLI. Since the 285 is only 1 GPU, when you 3 of them in SLI, it is 3-way SLI.

Actually the GTX 295s are 2 GTX 275s. They have the 240sps like the GTX 280/285 but with only 896mb Vram vs 1024 Vram for GTX 280/285 and a 448-bit bus vs 512-bit bus for 280/285.

If your an enthusiast gamer like alot of folks, you want more than one GPU. If you have 3 of these, it will dramatically increase frame rates, therefor, letting you increase your output settings. Crysis Warhead runs like a charm on 3 of these puppies. But what I don't get is why people buy the SC or SSC editions of these things when you can just OC them yourselves and save 60-100 bucks. Common Sense folks...... -.-

And i'll tell you why, When these boards are made they have certain chips wich handle over clocking better than others, they seperate the cards wich handle higher overclock and label them in a standard version, all the way up to the FTW or for the win edition for EVGA cards, you'll never get the overclock out of a standard edition that you will from an overclocked edition! No how! No way!

You can only use 2 GTX 295's in Quad SLI. Anything above Quad SLI hasn't been releases to the public yet. Maybe not even come up with. BUT, you can use 2 GTX 295's in Quad SLI and dedicate the other GTX 295 for PhysX, though, not a lot of games actually use PhysX. Just sayin' XP

screws up the card. When the gpu is being manufactured they filter out the chips that have a high tolerance for oc'ing with those that don't. The SC edition chips, have a much tolerance than the normal ones, and plus its covered by warranty.

Tri-SLi gives phenomenal performance and scales very well. Quad-SLi is problematic in every way you look at it. I'm not sure about micro-stuttering on GT200 but i see all kinds of reviews and this VHS Tape has nothing on the 285 cards when connected in an SLi config or Quad-SLi 295 vs Tri-SLi 285. The minimum framerates are suffering on the 295. Dual-GPU solutions are a waste of time and money.
