i have flown with aeroflot on 6 occasions.and have to say i have never had a problem. the planes were on time. the staff were kind. the planes were new i would fly with them again and again.
People who say Aeroflot is the most deadly airline, in the time of the USSR it was the worlds largest airline, with the most flights, to the most remote destinations. Flying everything from a crop duster to a IL-86 Jumbojet.
and now the U.S. airlines want everyone to ride the new "saddle seats"!!!! ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha U.S. is just one big crime ridden selfish kapitalist nation which is bankrupt and in decay and financial ruin!!!! GLORY TO HOLY MOTHER ROSSIYA!!!!!!!!
Aeroflot is an excellent airline and I wouldn't hesitate to fly them at any time and I'm an American. Sure wish they were still flying the IL-62s as I would love to fly on one.
AEROFLOT and EL AL are the BEST airlines!!!!!!!! the worst are all US carriers who treat the passngers as cargo with their $4000 per hour ceos price gouging everyone. also, southwest is the worst as it has the most dangerous fleet of planes as they are all the worst passenger aircraft ever made, the 737. RUDDERS STICK! LANDING GEAR FAILS TO ENGAGE! AEROLONS STICK! AND THE MAINTENANCE FOR US AIRLINES IS ATTROCIOUS!!!! THE $4000 PER HOUR CEO'S ARE MORE CONCERNED WITH THEIR EXTRAVAGANT LIFESTYLES!
@James88428 About languages my life is funny, and I am not bragging. My father was Russian, my mom German, but I was born in Sao Paulo, Brasil. so at home in Brasil I was told to speak Russian and German, in the streets Portuguese. we then came to USA ( Chicago ) and had to speak English, so I speak Portuguese, Russian, German, English and Spanish I speak all these languages in my circle of friends, and I go nuts sometimes trying to remember all this !
@varigdc10 I love your comments. They are excellent. I envy you with your knowledge of all those languages. I speak German moderately well, French as well, and Russian, which I learned over three years.
Aeroflot Soviet Airlines was fine. It was the worlds LARGEST airline. The sheer size made its bad reputation invalid. The international fleet and crew were very good. The regional crew and fleet were mediocre. Aeroflot at one time carried more than Pan Am, American, Delta, and United COMBINED. The amount of incidents was really quite small for the size, and they operated in some of the worst conditions too.

Unfortunately I wouldn't risk my life putting one toe on a Russian aircraft. Lose the Comulev's and stick with Boeing/Airbus and you've got yourself a customer if I ever happen to want to go to Russia

in my opinion back during the USSR, Aeroflot had so many crashes because all their planes needed like 5 goddamn pilots to fly them and when there was an emergency you'd have 5 angry russian men all yelling at the same time which I'd imagine makes it hard to think what to do while pulling out of a 90 degree nosedive
back in the Soviet Union times this would have been true plus back then you never would have even heard about it. but since the breakup of the USSR Aeroflot has REALLY improved.
I wish Aeroflot would still fly to Singapore...it pulled out in 2000. Even though Transaero now flies in Aeroflot's place, I believe that service standards are higher in Aeroflot, with the true Russian national carrier flavour.
this carrier ist not so safe : more than 120 accidents since 1953.more than 6.800 people where killed. in 1994 the last great desaster with flight 593. a kid (the pilot`s son) have control of the airbus. in accident rate aeroflot takes place 23 in europe, place 64 worldwide (period 1987-2007).but in the last decade aeroflot became substantially safer, which is correct...
They are, but the stats are done over a 20 year period, and since Communism and the USSR fell they have only had one fatal crash. The Aeroflot of 2008 is the Aeroflot of yesteryear in name only.
Attention everyone on youtube.com. I made a teaser video of me going to Russia this year. If you check it on my channel, you will find out.

Aeroflot has signed with the IOC a multimillion dollar agreement to provide transportation for the olympic athletes during the 2014 Olympic Games.
If Aeroflot is 'unsafe' as you claim, would it make sense to be signed in as the official olympic airline for these games in particular?
Grow up and leave the Cold War behind.

Thats correct. This proves the fact that western built aircrafts are many times more reliable and safer than its russian competitors.

saszer20,
are you crazy?
Aeroflot is one of the most safe air lines in the world.
Yes there were some old airplanes.
But last year russian company Sukhoi presented a new airplane SuperJet 100.
It is the most modern air plane in the world today.
