  • Funny!

  • grandfather was drunk... lol.

normally Japanese know that to address someone, don't need -SAN in English.

  • Wow awesome video! This is perfect for the level I'm at. I have quite good vocabulary so I can understand a lot, except I often don't know the meaning of set phrases. Its so good that you show the meanings of these phrases. Thanks!

  • hahah i really wanted to fight the americans. lol commical

  • Regardless of what he is talking about, I have to say that I have BEEN to Japan, and there is indeed racism and hatred still there...I like Japanese culture, but, like, the truth is the truth...

  • These guys are hilarious!!! Nuff respect from Kurashiki, Okayama, Japan!!!

  • I hate when people don't understand anything except what they been told.

  • He is talking about American discrimination...not about Japanese discrimination.

  • Actually, ATM is ordinal word 90s-. Cash Dispenser in 80-90s. Cash Machine....hmm could be 60-70s, sounds like it, though I was born 70s and I haven't heard the word.

But, your Japanese is soooo natural.

  • this title is inappropriate. this guy mainly talks about racism in USA which he experienced

  • I love the swapping between languages :D

  • @Brunswick999 Well, so do I!

  • Yup. that's good. Don't worry about world war 2 because it's over. Like last time , they did bomb in my country but I think it's not them. I know who really behind. Then don't worry . We people still wake up and have a fun ourselves. Peace.

  • you guys are funeh!

  • so funy guys

  • lol. that was a funny story. haha

  • what's the name of the song at the end of the video

  • In mother russia, we don't say World War 2, we call it GREAT MOTHERLAND WAR.

Sounds much cooler than World War 2.

  • @DraggingMorons

    great patriotic war you mean....

  • George's ex-girlfriend sure has a cool granddad. You speak Japanese really well, George!

  • why does the white dude have a bit of a weird accent when speaking japanese?

  • @SesameStreetAlphabet

wow I thought his accent was pretty good seeing as Japanese is NOT his first language.

  • This reminds me of my first time in Japan. I was at my friends house, & me, my friend, & her brother (theyre both Japanese) were sitting in the living room watching tv. All of the sudden this story about WWII comes on the tv, talking about how America bombed them twice w/ nuclear weapons (w/ real video clips & everything). I froze in my skin, not knowing how they would react, but when they saw the tv they just pointed at me JOKINGLY and CHUCKLED before continuing the convo. I love my friends! XD

  • @S5ate99lit3e : You have good friends then. I'm glad that turned out well.

  • Haha, I like how at 3:00 he started speaking English. :D

He was now speaking Japenglish. Like....Spanglish!

  • say what now? lol

  • racism must die!

  • @IlshatAh

Kill it with fire!...I especially hate racism that exists in the face of clear examples contradicting it. "I hate blacks, they're all lazy"..."I own my own company -_-..." "Stil!!" lol like, wtf? lol

  • I thought this was about racial descrimination in Japan?

  • I lol'd at the end

  • more subs!

  • The sad thing is EVERYBODY can be racist no matter what race they are, I am English and I see a lot of racism about black/white/aisan all sorts it saddens me because I get along with everybody, love and light folks dont let anybody put you down we arnt all racists...

  • @Kobalos

Dont worry there are more decent people on youtube you just have to look and trust me I argue with racist the most online. Almost everyone is racist on the internet it is sort of like a trend because I notice that people do it when they see other people do it.

  • @Kobalos Coexisting with everyone in the world won't hurt anybody... :) Those people who claim to be racists just have to deal with differences and somehow, they'd learn to accept those they use to dislike.

  • it took him that long to say " so i was standing in line"

  • LMAO @ Ogisan immitation lololol

  • 日本のサービスは世界一・・・。これは、世界の多くの人が認めている真理です。われわれ、日本人は、そういうサービスが「普通だだろう」と思っていますが、世界では、日本ほどのサービスは稀です。

  • HAHAHAHA, thats too funny "i wanted to fight the americans."

im not advocating anything, i just like such humor. = p

  • the war cant be helped...since both of them are killed each other.

  • wat u guys talking about?

  • now back in my day....

  • 親の前で呼び捨ては気をつけろよ、結婚前の挨拶だろ?

    さん付けが普通。お前が非常識。

  • polite, courteous? Then he says "hijimemasite" = "nice to meet you" so the grand father was saying that to him? damn my japanese comperhension XD

  • ummm... with 呼び捨て - you no doubt know that by doing that, you've revealed to her grandfather that you were sleeping with her. 結婚してないと、家族の前で絶対やってはいけないっすよ。

  • says who... what if you 呼び捨て a guy? does that mean u r a gay?

  • lol! thats so funny!

you guys switch betwean jap and eng to much

  • american nitte!!! funny!!!!

  • I know a Chinese man that to this day hates the Japanese for their atrocities committed in China.

    Some people just can't forgive.

  • Interesting!

I'm Japanese but I never hate Korean,

    American or others.

all countries have racism you know

Maybe I think it doesn't happen when we have one to one alone:)

Sorry for my poor English Ive studied for 3yrs

    haha...

  • So your answer is 'well it happens in America too?!' How does that make anything better?

  • I don't think that's racism. It's more like a grudge she had against Japanese because her father was killed there. As for George, it's a good thing you left man. I mean, the old man said he wanted to fight the Americans and he had an Acerican-looking guy in front of him! Good stuff.

  • To be honest the trial for japan was no where near as harsh as Germany.

Alot of people believe you were let off easy.

I however cannot speak for the koreans, some of the bad relation is most likely from communist brainwashing.

  • That is so true, I find it astounding (as do all other Germans) that some Japanese will go thinking that their part in the war was honourable or acceptable. We Germans feel unbelievably ashamed at it. That said, the Americans aren't nearly as prejudiced against Japanese people as they are against Germans. I live in England now and the people here are very prejudiced against Germans. Actually it's only the children of the soldiers that are- the vets aren't at all and people my age don't care.

  • @pritzi101

I guess it's easy to take down the prejudice when the global media has a large Japanese based influence (not the largest but certainly a significant one): anime, major video games, electronics, music etc...

  • But to be honest, it's unfair for people to be prejudiced against either of us, considering that people my age and his age were not involved at all.

  • @LgndryThndr That comment was so ignorant. Only North Korea is communist. If you know anything about Korea, you would know that.

  • lol woah i knew japanese spoke quickly but i didn't realise it was that quickly!

  • the korean has nothing to do with war crime.

    Korean was the Japanese citizen

  • アメリカ人の方も可哀想だな。

    今の老人の心を癒すのは難しいけど、若い世代には平和でいてほしい

  • We were right to stay neutral.

  • hey men! we call it ATM in japanese nowadays!

  • If you go to Japan, everyone you talk to is so nice.

  • It's funny how Japanese guys are so intimated when foreigners speak Japanese.

  • that because Japanese people cant talk bad about you if you have a higher chance of understanding them ... Just like over here or where ever you are from ...

  • true japanese hate korean people

just like mexicans hate puerto ricans

  • lol what? mexicans don't hate puerto ricans!

  • "true japanese" hate korean people?

So my family isn't true japanese? XD

So can you define what it means to be "true japanese" ?

  • no they don't

certain people hate certain people because of the individual moron

  • is it fun spreading some bs?

it makes sick to know idiots like you are still roaming around like maggots.

  • Really! Why is that? I love my Mexicans brothers and sisters! I would love to visit one day! Are you Mexican?

  • do you really think that?

    peace out man

  • at my school, for some reason most of my mexican friends hate japanese people... but i love japanese people xD.

  • Koreans get mad easy include with Spanish

  • lol

there are some idiots in the US.

  • are u talking by yourself

  • yoko yata batiam omedetou gassaimassu

  • Japanese bank and worse for people working in Japan

  • That's the irony here.

America is on the verge of bankruptcy--4 trillion dollars in debt--while Korea and China holds America up.

  • i wouldn't say that ALL korean people hate ALL japanese people... that's just an ignorant statement. but SOME koreans are not too FOND of the japanese GOVERNMENT because the japanese gov't occupied korea for a time. obviously korea and japan get along to an extent, because they have cross-tourism, and cross-employment opportunites, and cross-cultural relationship and friendships, etc.

  • I hate the people who talk to a japanese kid saying that their grand father was killed in WW2 HE WASNT EVEN BORN and that they killed off a whole city in japan

  • Are you stupid? Koreans don't hate Japanese people and Puerto Ricans sure as hell don't hate Mexicans, idiot. Don't give into cultural ignorance if you don't know EVERYBODY.

  • puerto ricans don't hate mexicans, they hate to be CALLED mexicans.

  • *-* Is this true? What if someone is mexican and Puerto Rican, does that mean they will be disliked?

  • The Japanese are really strange;

because they will not tolerate unemployment in their country, practically any foreigner can find work in Japan, even if they speak broken Japanese.

Japanese racism is societal, not institutional, wheres in the U.S. it tends to be the opposite. In Japan if you are a "gaijin" you'll find work but will have no Japanese friends, here, you can't find work but may have plenty of white friends.

  • they speak for like a minute n the subtitle is 4-5 words ....haha..

  • @alicegrg this was in the early days of the yesjapan.com site and before george(the american guy in the video) started subbing most of the videos..it of course took time to edit them back in the day, and george did alot of the work himself..i joined the site myself for a while..but anyway, they ARE saying much more than that of course..it just isnt subbed. :P

  • Never heard such bullshit in my life. Some individuals hate races, not entire races hating other races. Anyone who believes that is an idiot or embarassingly ignorant.

  • love end LOL

  • I am a British Muslim. Are Japanese racist people? What do they generally think of Muslims?

  • so it's not like the governments have any problems just the population usually.

  • Japanese on youtube are FAMOUS for putting up racist videos and comments and perverted videos of Japanese girls and anime. Please go get a clue and learn some basic manners. Japan is famous for black vans, 2ch and other hotbeds of racism and rude behavior.

  • dude japan japan is one wonderful place to be, just nnot as much for foreignes, why: because japs are reacist (generally), some even hatrte the guts of foreigners , the europeans (specially french) recieve the least racism and being french is welcomed in many cases, everyone else = tough luck. As a foregner they nearly all normal estate agents won't let you buy or rent their estates, anly many foreigners end up going to special real estates paying 5 times extra, and there is shops access, etc...

  • i hate white americans..

vote for a stricter policy on americans living in japan

    ban americans!

  • how the hell is immigration wrong?

sorry I know you posted 2 months ago, but when I read that I just started laughing.

This planet isnt owned by ANYONE, how dare you say its wrong.

  • i live in australia, and i'm filipino.

im at high school and we have japanese exchange students.

everyone loves them! most popular kids at school.

from where i live, aussies generally love the japanese (:

  • haha jokes

  • How did you manage to achieve such an accent in Japanese? You sound like a native!

  • That was pretty funny

  • Actually, we usually say ATM in Japan.

  • I understand this guys feelings I've had exactly the same experience at a Japanese bank. All Japanese should see this. 「銀行の話」私経験者ですから良くこの人の気持ちがわかる。日本人みんな見るべし。

  • gaijin is not derogatory term

  • ハハハ。おかしんだよ。

  • lol the american? i think has pretty good japanese! i speak japanese too so i understood lol

  • Well generally, Americans love the Japanese, at least here in NY.

  • Here in NH we love them too!

  • we also love japanese in indonesia (at least in jakarta), although the fact that they kill million of indonesian people just 60 years ago during the world war

  • Well in the 1940s the West coast hated the Japanese.

  • Im sure a vast amount of america loves japan, they have an interesting culture.

  • I love japanese people no matter what anyone says. they make all the good anime, they make alot of tech we use today, i hope i can visit there some day. i love there culture to it's very instresting

  • I love america.

    I love Mcdonald

  • Mc'Donalds is unhealthy food mate.

  • That was a fun conversation.

  • that was funny at the end

  • Discrimination comes from confusion and hurt- once we realize we are all equal and bleed the same then life will start to become less abrasive. Each one of us can learn from one another if we all just stop the hate.

  • It doesn't mean we should open our borders and let millions of immigrants in...after all demographic change equals to cultural change. Culture is gene expression and it wont change no matter what people want.

  • ...i pity that thought, yeah immigration is wrong but still...

  • *kimisazuki*

    I agree!

  • haha!!!

  • ahhah the white guy even cruches his eyes like a jap ahha .. ahhahaha he doesnt even know he is white haha .. suki suki lol

  • they say ATM !i think ..

  • yea they do

  • "ATM" is used japan now.

But when this video was shot, it was called "cash machine" in japan.

    they say so

  • Well, I'm not trying to start raising any hate thing going against Japan or anything but one fact I know is is that Japan has great prejudice against Koreans. When Korea and Japan tries to trade, Korean products are not bought at all. Last yr or so, 20 korean cars were sold in Japan. You can't say its cuz Korean products are much worse cuz statistically, they are very much equal in quality in many areas.

And if this is in America, its quite normal. I as a Korean experienced something like this

  • It is a mistake. Since it was not more attractive than Japan in quality or a price, in Japan, a South Korean car did not only sell. Japan is an automobile king country .. The wall of operating efforts and a Japanese car was not only able to be exceeded. If you want to surely sell to Japan and to succeed, you should make an attractive car like the German vehicle.

  • and I was like what? because I never knew that Koreans hated Japanese, I knew about WW2. I live in the city there are lots of Koreans, and when me and my mom go to Korean market, they ask what nationality we are, they were nice at first, but as soon as they found out that we're Japanese, they became soo cold and mean. I had many bad experience with them.

  • Korea was under Japanese rule as part of the imperialist expansion of Japan during the first half of the 20th century, until the Japanese defeat in World War II in 1945.

rainxlxl Read about this time period. You will understand. But also not all Koreans hate japanese. Hate what they did , and really hate they deny some of it and don't teach the true facts in thire history books.. I wont for get the stores from the older Koreans with tears in thire eyes of what happen to thire families.

  • >Burrweballman

Have you ever read Japanese history book?

  • My Korean friend told me about that. Basically, similar to how Germany has already apologized for the Holocaust, Japan must apologize to all the countries they've committed war crimes against (ex/ Japanese soliders' prostitution camps, chemical testing on human skin, etc). The world was, and still is, filled with much hate.

  • FYI, Japan has already addressed condolescence and apology to all countries that suffered atrocity committed by Japanese war criminials....look it up on wiki and other credible sources. it's official. chinese and koreans never post anything about it on news because they accept no apologies from Japan only because they want to keep blaming Japan for its past crime. how absurd is that?

  • Err, when did they fess up to what happened in Korea during WW2? They don't even teach in their schools.

  • I'm not sure if that's true. Have the J government ever extended an official apology for that eyesore Mimizuka, which still stands, for example? Or the comfort women? Or Empress MyeongSeong? Not hating, but just wondering if your information is really accurate because I've never heard of apologies for those.

  • yeah that happens to me sometimes....... i went to a korean market and i talked to my mom in japanese and this elderly lady started glaring at me. But it doesnt happen often because i look really korean.... even my asian friends cant tell lol

  • Japan did a lot of bad things to other countries during the war, usually asian races are not very forgiving and the hate lingers on. Also, its not only one sided, Japanese people mistreat Koreans everyday in Japan, despite Koreans being the largest minority group in Japan.

  • That was funny...

Tragic that we still have racism on both sides but thank you for sharing these stories. It will take another generation or two before a lot of anger is forgotten. (Unless something else happens!!! (@.@)

  • That was funny there at the end!

  • i was working in bnq ad my phone went off an m ringtone is a german metal band called rammstein, i had all these old people shouting at me "go back to germany u nazi" an shit like that. discrimination and racism run deep

  • is all the stuff he's saying really the simple phrases in English on the subtitles??

  • no, but the rest isnt that important.

  • racism everywhere has its roots the the history of each country so......it would be taken away only by a mass change of mind......little by little...it could happen very very very little by litle.....

  • I am of Japanese ancestry, but was born in Canada with mainly Caucasian friends. Many Japanese from Japan I met had a real shitty/higher than thou attitude towards me, like I was subhuman. Racism to your own blood, pretty gross, eh?

    There were a few exceptions.

The attitude of many Japanese may have roots in the past...

  • I find that heart breaking...I now live in Japan and if I said what you just said, no one would believe me. And I know exactly what you mean by that shitty/higher than thou attitude. Would you agree with me if I said that the people in Japan are very supremacist? Ive often found that they think that people in Japan are the best; at every single thing, no matter what it is. My brother in laws dont talk to me when they are with their friends in public. Not very welcoming isn't it?

  • very informative....

  • 日本人のレイシズムってタイトル変じゃないか?

    日本人がアメリカで受けた差別的扱い、ということだろ

  • I think every countries have discrimination problems. I also felt kind of discrimination in the US, but american people also feel discriminartion in Japan, right? we need to stop it.

  • I don't think it's possible any time soon.

  • This is extremely biased evidence. Anecdotical evidence is not valid for reliable conclusions. Most Japaneses today have long forgotten their anti-American sentiment. Most of them keep saying to neighboring countries: Sumimasen, sumimasen.

  • who on earth dislikes japanese guys????

    Japanese men are hot! <33333333

I get friendly and really happy when I get to interact with Japanese people; they are always so friendly and kind. ^_^

  • lol, if only everyone thought the same thing, the world would definately be better. ^^ japanese girls are hot too lol

  • weird!

  • 男のくせにウジウジと悩むんじゃんねい。

    おいこら、だれでもその位の思いはしてるんだ。

  • I bought a ps3 to play in my barracks. But if I see a slope give me a weird eye,I'll cut it out with my SOG blade and make him eat it hoo-yah.

  • You sound like a real tough guy..

  • A white person feeling bad in Japan I thought. Then I went back to normal seeing as how you don't seem too offended.

  • your japanese was freaking too fast

  • ヒサシさんは小さい指がもってある。

  • all we need is for this fine gentleman to share his lesson with half of his country folk, japan being constantly under the UNs scrutiny for racism, including a complete lack of any discrimination laws, public anti foriegner demonstation.. and im lucky im not the ancestor of korean or chinese slaves, or brazilian nikei, they really get it bad.

  • Why wasn't the japanese guy allowed to finish his story?

  • you mean Hisashi? well George had to run to the train I think it was. The full version of this episode is better :D

  • NOOOOOOOOOO japan has so much good stuff. I hate racism. It fuks everything up. *pouts*

  • I only know one race and that's the HUMAN RACE...Human

  • I wish it were this way too. Labels only cause conflict. Even if it is nonviolent conflict, like a discussion about philosophy.

  • 二人ともカワイイね。

  • That's disgusting that people are still racist. Especially in areas like that. I mean, I could understand if a Japanese actor wanted to try out for an European Medival king role in a movie, his race would matter (or something like that, ya know). But an everyday thing like taking out money, that is gross. Poor man.

  • amazing, i´m german and was not in ww2 nore my father, but in my holdays in england as a adolescent, all the kid shouted heil hitler at us german schoolars, was not funny...., its a common problem for all the ww2 looser countries....

  • I agree.

  • I like there story!! -favorites-

  • i thought this was about japanese racists...

  • "poor country people" wrong

    "rude person" right

  • Any old bastard that still feels anger about the wars need to move on and understand that their grandkids are playing together. Nice video, I enjoyed it.

  • wow...people need to move on.

  • That was great, I understood the conversation and I dont know Japanese

    lol

  • we say ATM in japanese they both suck in japanese

  • haha ...feel srry for the guy

  • someone clean that room there choking on the dust poor guys

  • Jovian84 you are the kind of person that causes the world to hate America. I am American, but when I hear people say stupid stuff like that, I wish I were of another nationality, so that I would not have that association attached to me.
