I was watching the episode "Numbers" and saw the part where Hurley goes to the mental institution. While at the desk, and old Chinese man approaches him, who happens to know him. When I look at this guy, I swear he looks just like "Dr. Candle." Does anyone think that he is the old man who runs the mental house?

His left arm in this video is a prosthetic; if you watch is closely you'll see that it never moves at all. This is because it got crushed in the season5 finale ("The Incident") which is proof that he was still around on the island after that "incident" in 1977. So maybe that bomb never detonated after all, otherwise he wouldn't have have had a fake arm and wouldn't have been alive and on the island to make this video.

the fact that hes in videos talking about the incident is enough evidence to know hes around after the incident. the bomb did go off this was the incident but who knows what it did to the people on the surface

thats very smart, but the facts that led to him getting his arm hurt, didn't have to do with the bomb, but with the failure of the xperiment, so he might be a dr marvin that experienced an incident but not neccesarily a detonation

yeah, but don't forget. the past got changed because when this video was made, the oceanic guys weren't in the dharma, and so they never new about the bomb, so they were able to make this. but when john turned the wheel again, they went back to the 70's, and then dan told them about the bomb, so they new about. then it didn't detonate, so juliet hit it with a rock, and it exploded, and then the island exploded, and also marvin found out not to build the hatch from dan. but he did before thecrash

@heatflash888 The Pearl was built between 1971 and 1973, so they probably recorded the orientation vid before 1977, which is when Chang lost his arm. I think when the Swan was first built, after the original Incident, they did research and the Pearl was monitoring the researchers, but after the second Incident, when the protocol was created, the Swan was altered and the Pearl continued to monitor it, though Dharma was testing if someone could just watch without asking any questions.

I agree. Boards of Canada are influenced by weird old documentary soundtracks. The show does a good job of recreating them, too. I suggest you check out the old "Protect and Survive" ads from the cold war. The music at the end of them is very BoCish.
