  • This or a version of it was used in X-Men 2 when Nightcrawler attacked The White House

  • @lizzylizardson I don't care about hitler's preferences when i have too say if i like a song or not...

  • This is the fastest Dies Irae I've ever heard... Friends, pleaasseee increase the views of my 2 videos.. Ditunggu ya.. Thanks..

  • very interesting song...

  • Day of wrath...that day...

What trembling will come before us

    When the Judge is come.

  • @MimiKayKay

That's pretty incomplete but you got the idea =)

  • @navh07 DONT SPEAK ABOUT IT IM SERIOUS.my grandpa died of those asshole soldiers from serbia

  • No inferno da Terra

eles cantam ao som do horror

    - como divertimento.

  • i find this song better when it's played fast, like in this video.

But the original is good aswell!

  • LOL it is too slow! They should make it faster :DDD (of course Im kidding)

  • wow! VERY good interpretation of this song!! Has all the power and emotion in it. (pity the sound volume is low..

    thanks uex0

  • way too fast..

  • yeah WAY to fast...

  • .22 sounds like call of duty

  • yep, they used it in the CoD World at War soundtrack

  • sweet

  • Where do you think they got it from?

  • no, not the polish band! he-he

  • No. Mozart wrote this therefore its awesome.

  • @roxfanatic whether or not Mozart wrote this is unclear. While he certainly worked on his Requiem, he died before finishing it, and it's very possible his Dies Irae was the work of one of his students, Franz Xaver Suessmayr.

  • Very nice indeed ! Thank you.

Pity the cut is not on time with the music it would have been even more effective.

  • Quanto terror haverá então...

  • Infelizmente fabioppt, o terror não conhece nem teme fronteiras

    :(

    Great music!!

    5*

  • I want to know...

What is name of the conductor?

  • i thought this was Paul Mauffray, could easely be wrong though

  • This a beautiful song.Dies Irae means Day of wrath.

  • This is such 'Destruction' music! Guess why it was used in 'Battle Royale'.

  • dies irae was mozarts 2nd requiem.

  • Umm, no. Dies Irae is the second movement of Mozart's only Requiem.

  • mozart did not write the requiem. he wrote the music. also, dies irae was the third song, but the first song in the second movement of requiem aeternam, sequenz.

  • If I ever became a totalitarian dictator I would make this the national anthem.

  • Hell yeah dude. I'd make sure this would be played daily on some sort of PA system where all could hear it =).

  • No the song to play when you're a dictator would be the "everybody clap your hands" song. Get 6 million people at a rally and play this over the PA. the jump up 3 times part would measure like a 6.8 on the Richter scale.

  • haha "casper slide part two" is what ur thinking of

  • here's a rough translation

The day of wrath, that day

which will reduce the world to ashes,

as foretold by David and the Sybil.

    What terror there will be,

    when the Lord will come

    to judge all rigorously!

  • "Dies Irae, dies illa, solvet saeclum in favilla, teste David cum Sybilla. Quanto tremor est futurus, quando judex est venturus"... E' latino cara gente... Vuol dire "giorno di ira, quel giorno, il mondo svanirà tra le fiamme, testimoni David con Sybilla. Quanto devasto arriverà, quando il Giudice (Cristo) verrà"

  • Dies Irae translated means "Day of Wrath."

  • Well, if there is one thing I can say about religion: it inspires all the best music.

You know people always say the Verdi's "Dies Irae" is more dramatic, but I can't help but feel that this one is. Plus Verdi's Requiem doesn't have the amazing Lacrimosa.

  • dies irae MEANS That day (aquel dia) dies illa MEANS day of angry (dia de ira) so... what can you all say? It refers to the day of judgement!!!

by the way, I love that song

  • Um actually Dies Irae means "The Day of Anger" and Dies Illa means That Day

  • I will be the one to say this one thing.

    Nice song. Enjoyed it.

Well that was two things, but whatever.

  • soooo...anyone up for watching the video, or are we all going to insult each other a little more?

  • Thank you for the most amusing thing I have seen in a while. Well, Mr. Catholic, if you really want the truth--ALL requiem masses have the same lyrics--some omit various verses, some include them. Musicians were commissioned by the church (or for nobles, in Mozart's case) to write music for a Mass the Catholics used for funerals (the Missal was revised in 1970, though). So that is where you got your confusion from. Just a little FYI. I performed Mozart's and Duruflé's Requiems with my choir...

  • perfect for violence. also used in c+c red alert

  • yeah, in the trailer for c&c red alert on the Tiberian Dawn Credits.

  • This is Mozart's Requiem, if you're in any doubt, just search YouTube for other recordings of the same movement.

  • No. I just searched on a whim. Not doin' it again.

  • I'm just rolling on floor laughing. Verdi...ahahahahahahaha. This is a piece of the most important work ever writed in history of music "Requiem" from Mozart. It's the postume work of the greatest genius ever. And you have guts to say this is from Verdi and more guts to call "retards" to people that say you're wrong, saying the truth.

Eres la persona más estúpida que jamàs he leido en comentarios del youtube. Por favor, informate bien antes de llamar a otros "retrasados". Saludos!

  • yo dumbass. it's definitely mozart. get YOUR 'damn factoids straight.'

  • Okay, here's some pointers: I've got a nice little recording of something I'd like to call Requiem. I love it alot and have memorized EVERY FRIGGIN' SECTION OF THE PIECE. I know it when I hear it. And guess what? VERDI WROTE IT!!!

And lemme fill you in on something: Mozart is a Classical composer. That means fundamentals of music all around. Nothing reall fancy or expressive. Just the simple emotions.

Verdi was born in a later period called the Romantic Era. Fill in the blanks, retard.

  • k you know what? dont call other people retards when you are wrong. a person can write a song, but other people can write their own version of the song too.

"Music for the Requiem mass has been composed by many composers, including Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Giuseppe Verdi and Hector Berlioz. The setting by Mozart, especially the first two stanzas (Requiem, 2nd Movement), is often heard" so get your facts straight before you call us all retards

  • First off, I just called the bugger a retard when he insulted me. That's all.

And also, I believe that if this is so, then I guess the Requiem was not really written by anone individually, so therefore Vardi doesn't own it, but neither does Mozart, so "Ha!".

  • so you admit then that you were wrong? and that this version is mozart, and that people can have their own versions of the same song?

  • this is MOZART.

the two requiems sound entirely different.

dont call people retards when you cant tell the difference between two different pieces of music by two different composers. i played verdi's version today with my orchestra. okay?

  • this music give me a sense of ONNIPOTENCE....ecce homo

  • we are singing this in my middle school chorus and it is hard i will give you that

  • whats are those bomb scenes from? world war ii?

  • serbs are attacking Croats/bosnians

  • why are you guys all going bible crazy just cuz mozart wrote a song about judgement day?

its just a requiem, so chill out!

  • He didn't. And it's "Day of Wrath". These little details are important.

Verdi wrote Dies Irae in his Requiem, and you need to brush up on your Latin, my friend.

  • excuse me? i looked up this song on wikipedia before i looked on youtube. and i know what its about.

ya it IS about the judgement day

"The poem describes the day of judgment" says wikipedia.

but its jsut a song, and you dont have to take it with any real meaning, so dont push ur "god isnt real" stuff on us, "buddy"

  • wow. i didnt know that people could be so retarded, but i see now that you bring a whole new level to the scale

  • Dear Mr. Jester, I will humble myself to a low enough level to reply to you just this once: stop. Watch the video. That is all.

As an aside, the Latin language does not capitalize the first letter of most words, and dies illa does not mean day of judgment.

  • dude what does being catholic have to do with anything?! what are you even arguing about??

i agree with elee725. stop commenting, and watch the video.

  • Sorry. Everyone else was buggin' me, so I fired back. Hope you understand. I get pissed off... frequently. My apologies to the good people (other than the flaming commenters, of course) that I have offended. I am actually quite civil, but I get really riled when people bug me and bug me back. Good day...

  • lol i understand.

i think it was jsut because you were stating your opinion as a fact, and people got mad(unless im thinking of some one else i dunno)

  • I believe you're correct. Thanks for not being an asshole to me. I swear, not many here can take a statement/joke/projected thought for shit. I thank you for being nothing like an idiot.

  • thanks, i was trying to decide for myself but i saw your words and now i know the way...thanks again for sharing your knowledge of all things, apparently you died once or twice already i take it...

  • This is not a place for me to defend my argument. I wrote my opinion, not what u should believe in. Get it?

  • your opinion should probably begin with "i think" or "i believe"...you present yourself as if you were giving facts, and actually what do you mean "people with different types of brain"? as a psychology student that sounds, just dumb...

  • Oh for crying out loud, the bible doesn't officially discuss the triune God, either. And doesn't Jesus say "baptise them in the name of the father, the son and the holy spirit?"

  • I sang this in my 8th grade choir 4 years ago...needless to say we didn't sound like this. But we were still good.

  • was this the Bosnian war?

  • And yes, it is Day of Wrath.

  • all these comments from technotetris and keepitacrime this all proves we're living in the end times 0_o

  • It sux, I mean - these added pictures of demolishion. I strongly agree with Ritzounett.

  • Dies irae, dies illa Day of wrath, day of mourning

Solvet saculum in favilla: Earth in smoldering ashes lying:

Teste David cum Sibylla. So spake David and the Sybil

Quantus tremor est futurus. How great the trembling shall be

Quando judex est venturus, When the judge shall come

Cuncta stricte discussurus! By whose sentence all shall be bound!

  • whatever man this is about the worlds end how could it be about life.

  • I said "Cast away the devil from the World", that's the judgement day. PLEAAAAAAAAAAAASE read before disagreeing !!!

  • evil reign supreme!

  • keepitacrime-evil will one day be destroyed in the day of judgement, as this song describes, by God himself and everything you've ever done will no longer be secrets, but if u accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you will be saved and shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever, instead of perishing in hell

  • i will be the a king in hell, and satans supreme demon being, with the wrath of a thousand cursed plagues your house shall fall and your throne stolen to the clutches of the beasts

  • surgeons of disease, bring the weak to their knees, annihilate and conquer the christian plague with the force of a thousand storms and a thunderous roaring curse!

  • You forget baptism, you can't accept Jesus into your without firt cleansing it

  • Baptism isn't part of salvation.

  • Read the new testament, even jesus was baptized

  • I have read the New Testament; Jesus was also crucified; are you suggesting that anyone that doesn't get hung on a cross isn't saved?

  • Never said that, but it does describe baptism as being like the crucifixion. Baptism is a representation of being burried with Christ and the cleansing of the soul. Acts 2:38 is a commandment to be baptised

  • I will agree that it is commanded, but it is not required to get into heaven; for that, salvation through Jesus Christ is the only way, the only requirement, and is completely separate from baptism. I'm not attempting to belittle to practice, and I've been baptized myself, but it's no more a part of salvation then going to church.

  • How can you go to heaven if you don't keep God's commandments? If he says to do it, it must be part of salvation.

  • By that logic, no one would get to heaven; salvation by grace through Jesus Christ alone. We go to heaven by God's mercy, we are all guilty of breaking his commandments.

  • Yes, but his cricifixion has given us a path that is able to cleanse our sins, therefore it is possible to keep his commandments and get to heaven. Once you repent and ask forgiveness for a sin, he will forget that sin ever happened

  • That's exactly my point.

  • After you've been baptized.

  • That has nothing to do with it; show me one passage in the Bible that either says that baptism is required to enter unto heaven, or a verse that says those that aren't baptized are damned.

  • Acts 2:38 for commandment, and give me time for the other

  • I'm agree wit you, remember these 2 criminal guys that was crucifix with Jesus, one of them said "save yourself if you are the son of God"but the another one talk well so Jesus say to one of these guy "you will be with me in the kingdom of heaven" ok perhaps not exactly like that cause my English but you understand right is bad but I'm sure at 100% that guy was never ever ever baptized and still Jesus forgive his sin

  • Granted, but Jesus also had the power to do that. The new law wasn't finalized until his death

  • thanks for reply, so suppose that a man in our era (21 century) is about in the same situation than the other guy, I mean near to his dead and just then he is apologize of all his sin and ask God to forgive him, but he die just 1 week before be baptized, do you think he will be damned or do you think Jesus will forgive his sin like he did with the other guy ??

  • Personaly, I've thought about that a lot myself, but I can't answer that. All I can say is that I'm sure God wouldn't let someone who has the potential to be a good christian go to waste.

  • tiu also sai "Granted, but Jesus also had the power to do that. The new law wasn't finalized until his death"

that's mean you said, he had this power 2000 year ago but not now, I can not be agree with that cause he is the all mighty and he have the same power he had , He is the same yesterday, today and tomorow

  • no, what I mean is he wasn't bound by the new law then, so he could save people without baptism. When he died, the new law took effect and all are now in need of baptism for salvation.

  • I respect a lot your point of view but i'm still with the example i gave to you, he will still save a guy/girl if he/she is really apologize of they sin, like I said before if someone are really apologize of his sin and die a couple of day before his batiism, Jesus wil save him/her

  • I'm of the oppinion that it would never happen. If God sees Christian potential in someone, he wouldn't let them die before they're baptized.

  • Baptism is a formality. Accepting Jesus into your heart & repenting of your sins is the only importance. If you repent on your deathbed you are just as welcome as someone who has believed all their life.

  • yes, is exactly my point of view and this is what I try to explain to Mr Kevin, I'm happy someone is agree with what I said :-)

  • Read Mark 16:16:

"He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned."

You are not forgiven of your sins until you are baptized.

  • Actually, that only states that if you do not believe you will be damned it doesn't say he that believeth not and was baptised not shall be damned.Just says if someone doesn't believe they will be damned.See?

  • Look, I've given you all the stuff I know off-hand. The evidence is there, so if you don't see it then alright. I'm done with this for now

  • How dare do you put these pictures of death on a music of LIFE !!!!???? Dies Irea is an hymn to Life, an Hymn to cast away the Devil from the World... not an Hymn to glorify him, as you do here.

  • Sircwreenactor kindly showed the translation of the poem, show me how you can make it a song of life when; its about judgement day, and the mozart made it part of his Requiem.

  • I you read my comment before replying to it, you wouldn't ask this question.

  • okey. once again:

How dare do you put these pictures of death on a music of LIFE !!!!????, how is a sång of judgement day a sång of life, and how is music that is part of a requiem connected to prosper life?

'Dies Irea is an hymn to Life, an Hymn to cast away the Devil from the World...'

Judgement day is not a about life. Its about end of the world. time to read the bible.

  • Okay, I made my point, keep yours.

  • Actually, if you read the Bible, Judgement Day is about bringing about a new and everlasting life to all the dead and alive alike. However, if you interpret the book of revelation down to the very word, there will also be a signifigant number of people cast to hell for siding with the devil.

However, Judgement day is about bringing the new and everlasting life promised by Jesus.

Any priest can tell you that.

    Time to read the Bible.

  • This is not the message!!!How could you put THE DIES IRAE on war's picts???

  • love this song

  • this is part of Mozarts Requiem Mass, i love the Dies Irae songs from Mozart but i prefer Verdi's version

  • DIES IRAE:

    Il giorno dell'ira (italiano)

    Day of wrath (english)

Le jour de la rage (francais)

    ^^

  • no, shut up.

You're not making yourself look smart.

  • chahlesh, amen

  • the music doesnt fit the war footage

for that you need black metal

  • it so does...Dies Irae means Day of wrath wich fits great with war

  • black metal is for borderline transexual losers that think dressing like vampires makes them tough.

They have lost all grip on reality in other words :P

  • yeah, but blackened death and death metal rulez :p i like mozart too, i think the technique and also the "songwriting" work is fuckin´ good in these 2 genres. also if they have nothin´ to do together (i don´t know how I can say that, so I finish here)

  • Guys the same words are used for every Requiem mass. Mozart did not set(or choose) this poem for his music. But whenever a composer wants to compose a Requiem he should include those words. There is "Dies Irae" in every Requiem composed. And yes Vessol Mozart DID compose this piece. Since the word compose mean to write music.

  • Dies Irae is a medieval poem of Tommaso da Celano. Many musicians have played the poem, and many of them was great, as Verdi, Mozart, etc... You may be do not understand how their music is wonderful - it is *real* music!

  • Mozart didn't write the poem, but no one said he did. He did however compose the music and set the poem to it.

  • Mozart didn't compose it, its a 13th latin poem, very Catholic.

  • Our choir is performing this song... I love it! It's my favorite!

  • no hell has metal

    heaven has anything by queen

  • Dies irae dies illa solvet saeclum in favilla teste david cum Sybilla Quantas tremor est futurus quando judex est venturus cuncta stricte discusurus..........LOVE this song Motzart is amazing!!i'm doing this song for the christchurch schools music festival in the senior choir!!It rocks :-)

  • saeclum...not say-clum ;)

  • Since we're all being picky.

    sæclum...not saeclum ;)

  • lol its dies irae... dies illa.. solvet say-clum in favila

  • June 4th, 1989, Tiananmen Square

  • sarajevo 1992 1995 :(

  • This video reminds me of the 1997 Red Alert game trailer . They used Dies Irae for that and it was great!

  • they also used it for battle royale

  • genius!

  • Actually this video fits perfectly with the song.. this song, or poem, describes the day of judgment, the last trumpet summoning souls before the throne of God, where the saved will be delivered and the unsaved cast into eternal flames

  • Dies Irae.. Dies Illa... BE PREPARED !!

  • the images...i don't like the images...though they fit...they just scare me with this music >>;

  • welcome to the real world

  • Lol

  • This video is from the concert with the Belgrad Orchestra directed in that occasion by Zubin Mehta. The concert had been in the ruined Belgrad Biblioteque and those are the real images played for the TV during the concert. Mehta walked on the podio and looked around to show the catastrofical ruins of the centre of human culture

  • this is so beutiful it makes me happy too hear good music

  • was 4.00am,sorry

  • Dies irae, dies illa, solvet saeclum in favilla!

    Teste David cum Sibylla.

    Quantus tremor est futurus

    Quando judex est venturus

    Cuncta stricte discussurus!

  • I also think that the video is a poor interpretation. Its more about when the whole world will die, not people blowing each other up. Brilliant song though

  • best fucking song ever, the video is a poor interpretation of the song though.

  • y must u cuss????!?!

  • it goes;

day of wrath, that dreadfull day

the world will melt in ashes

as david and the sybill foretold

    what trembling there will be

    when the judge shal come

    dealing strictly with everything

    there ya go

    grtz frm antwerp belgium

  • in german it would be

Der Tag des Zorns, jener Tag wird die Erde in Asche zerfallen lassen: Verkündet haben es David und Sybill. Welch ein Graus wird sein, wenn der Richter gekommen ist, um streng zu richten (discussurs??)

but anyway, I don't know the text in english ^^"

  • we song this in my chorus last year. If I can find it I'll give the real translation

  • We're singing this for our spring concert...it's so pretty...

  • I'm fairly certain this is from the war in Bosnia. That building looks to be the Parlament Building in Sarajevo. Which would make the footage in the video 15 years old, roughly. Wonder who taped it..?

  • Dies Irae ("Day of Wrath") is a famous thirteenth century Latin hymn thought to be written by Thomas of Celano. The meter is trochaic. The poem describes the day of judgment, the last trumpet summoning souls before the throne of God, where the saved will be delivered and the unsaved cast into eternal flames. The hymn was used as a sequence in the Roman Catholic Requiem Mass until the 1970 revision of the Roman Missal.

  • you're totally right. dies irae, dies illa, solvet saeclum in favilla: teste david cum sibylla.

if someone wants to know what they're singing ^^" i like that poem "dies irae". I used to know it, but I have to re-learn it. anyway, didn't know there was a version by mozart. cool ^^

  • There are much some interesting versions of this gregorian hymnus... Hector Berlioz, Guiseppe Verdi, even one from Antonin Dvorak (Requiem opus 89). It's worth listen to these...

  • dies illa means wonder days or dread days?

  • dies irae meens "day of anger"

dies illa just means "that day".
