Sono immagini veramente drammatiche e nello stesso tempo bellissime grazie alla vostra sensibilità e profondità da cui traspare il dolore immenso che avete provato voi e tutta l'Australia.
An excellent compilation put together really well - tells the grim story in a quietly compelling manner. A big country, big bushfire risk, people with big hearts to have all this happen to them but who then turn around and resolutely start again.
Whats interesting is no fire crews were lost in this fire, one truck was caught up in a burn over and their cabin drenching system saved them.
Where I live the whole area is surrounded by bush, its been a huge wake up call, I just hope as time goes on people remember this sort of fire activity is always on the cards.
I am so sorry that this happened and I hope that this will never happen again. Too many people suffered because of this and too many lives were lost. My heart and my thoughts are will all of you.
Great tribute to people who fight against the devastating fires, I feel big sadness for this disaster, for people who died, and animals, and wood... thanks for your reportage!
Oh thanks boys! I didn't mean to ramble, it's just the fires made you take a real hard look at your own life and surroundings and because I'm not a towny yes, my lifestyle isn't really safe! :( I've stopped worrying, we just need to get a plan and put irrigation up on the roofs and let come what may!
Gabe, We don't think that clearing a few trees from the back fence would have made much difference in most cases here. Remember this fire monster devoured whole towns. It actually rained fire embers from the sky. There is no defence against that - except to plan a quick getaway (with horses, cat and dog of course!)
I remember thinking on the day of the disaster, before I heard the news, oh how I loved my trees, it got to 42 degrees here and the shade was the only thing that kept everything alive. The next day I couldn't believe the difference of how I felt about my trees. I was looking around the property and realised that I may have planted a death trap. It's taken me nearly 16 years to get the garden established, but if we all go crazy and remove all the trees it would be a sad day indeed!
Living in California, I am all too familiar with devastating fires, but seeing this, I am at a loss as to describe my overwhelming feeling of sadness for what happened in your beautiful country, to its people and wildlife. Thank you for putting this together. For those of you who watch, please donate to your local Red Cross as they are always the first to help after such devastation.
I hope this never happens again...in Australia or California or anywhere.
You have made a poignant and beautifully-rendered tribute to the victims of this devastating holocaust.

Yeah you're so right! It really depends whats coming your way. If it was anything like their firestorm, get out.
