@theawakener7 Now that's a freaky idea !! I know a lot of modern guitarists cite Bert as one of their original inspirations ..... but Satriani? Never heard that one before. Good joke though without disrespecting either man.
Cor Blimey - where do you get this stuff from ! God bless Bert - I did a few sessions with him in the late 1960s at PYE Studios - Great Cumberland Place - I was only 19 at the time and just starting off in the biz, but Bert was such a kind gentleman and made me feel at home - he really was such a nice bloke - obviously guitar playing has moved on a bit further now, but he remains a very significant figure in the history of plectrum guitar - and I've still got the famous book "Play in a Day" !
I got his book Play In a Day...I haven't had much luck with it;6 months on and I still can't get past page 5...I guess some people were just never meant to play the piano
The guitar's a Guild. Starfire IV model I think, the earliest of which (1964ish) had DeArmond pick ups like a Gretsch but white instead of black. Bert would be about 88 years old now.
Don't blame me but I used to cut his hair when he lived in the Allesley village area of Coventry area, I always found him very friendly, good luck Burt where ever you are..
No mate it's from the wheel tappers and shunters show, there was aways a top act or two on there, even the great roy orbison at one point.that was proper entertainment.
Wow I have never heard of this man before. But just seeing him play this one song I gotta see what else he has :) thanks you for posting

Is anyone else nonplussed by Bert's choice of stage apparel? It's a bit psychedelic for the Wheeltappers and Shunters social club.

I started out playing with the Bert Weedon instructional book in 1962. He and Hank B. Marvin were the first British guitar hero's. Classic stuff.

Always like that song and Bert does a good job of it. Only thing I don't like is that he makes it look so damn easy - it isn't.
