For some reason he even looks sad without them. But that's probably because he's SUPER focused. it's ironic that ashcroft is appearing on a show with (proto-britpop musician) joolz holland. ashcroft and his contemporaries took the music of holland's generation (squeeze, graham parker, elvis costello, etc.), reconfigured it using the latest technology, and in a sense perfected it. in the process, britpop was born. (i know this is a simplistic and somewhat "potted" view of pop music history, but i believe that there is a bit of truth to it.........)

i just met him an hour ago. he signed my gibson jumbo acoustic. he looked at my guitar and said "who's is that?" because my guitar looks like his. he shook my hand, asked me "what's your name...good to meet you man" he signed a poster of himself, and then he went into the studio to rehearse with UNOS. im still in shock. i waited 8.5 hours in the cold. the studio wouldnt let me inside, they thought i was a band stalker. i didnt meet his other band members. a day well spent

He has a truly unique voice, a very talented artist. Ive listened to him for as long as i can remember. I remember in the early 90's i used to listen to The Verve and was one of the few people i went to school with who listen to his music. His fan base are very passionate about his music and talent and for good reason. He is a legend!!!!
