  • I always liked this song, Milsap usually a country singer decided to do a Rocking out song. He has a great blues voice really.. The guitar solo in here is not bad either.

  • wow. hot, i want one!

  • What a find! Gorgeous American 80's women, Beautiful American 50's cars. And a pretty good tune to boot!

  • Always loved this tune and vid from '84...Especially cameos from Villechaize, Ekland, Fairchild, and of course the beautiful leading lady, a very young and sexy Mariska Hargitay...Loved the rotating circle platform dancers back then, too:)

  • the lady they past was Rebecca Holden from Knight Rider

  • To women you ARE what you drive.

    Fact.

I have no problem with that ( I drive a Porsche 911 Carrera GTS).

Thanks girls for noticing. "Don't stop, keep on going".

If there is anything I love more than my car, it's women.

  • I hope to fuck he's not the one driving.

  • A superior concept is a superior concept, regardless of time or number.

  • The 1980's - a decade of style. Learn from it.

  • @SanDiegoRhythm Ye, I'm taking notes! ;D

  • Good music + art of vision = win. How often we forget the importance of the pleasure principle, the element of fun? This song and its video is a celebration of life and actual entertainment at that. Great stuff that makes a superior product.

  • Mariskaaaa!

  • One time I saw Ronnie Milsap's bus in Nashville. He was standing next to the driver waving his hand like he was giving directions which kinda made me nervous to see.But then I figured"Maybe the glasses are a gimmick". (Yes,I KNOW He was born blind.Take a joke, people)

  • I only watched this video beacuse of mariska, but now I really like this song and want it on my ipod and its not on itunes :(

  • Who is the blond guy that first appears at 1:39 and then later with the older guy that looks like him? He is singing the electronic vocals and for some reason I've always thought it was Thomas Dolby or some other electronic musician from the 80s. Anyone know? Does anyone have the album and can see who worked on this song?

  • The Beautiful/Gorgeous Mariska Hargitay:)LOVE HER SUCH A SWEET PERSON!

  • the lyrics are kinda catchy (:

  • Playing golf in the office... watching MTV at his desk... nodding off on the job... Employee of the Month! (1:04) Cool video, cool song. Not promoted to country radio for obvious reasons, should have been a HUGE pop hit but wasn't. Ronnie Milsap Rules!

  • loooool mariska!!! she's such a BAMF.

  • I think (?) the guy playing the guitar solo in the back of the convertible is character actor John Doe (yeah, thats the professional name he uses), the dude known for mostly "sidekick" roles in movies "Great Balls of Fire", "Pure Country", "Road House", and "Boogie Nights". I remember when this song/vid first came out how pissed off Ronnies country music fans were, saying he'd turned traitor, etc.

  • @JimHadar1 I also thought it looked like John Doe. John Doe is best known as the guitarist for the punk group X. Eventually he moved to country music.

  • you can now buy this song on amazon or itunes for .99

  • DAMN! I turn on the TV, and there is Charlie Sheen on the news again. I pick up a magazine, and there's Charlie Sheen on the cover. So I decide to watch old music videos on Youtube. And at 2:25 in the video what do I see???...CHARLIE FRICKIN SHEEN!

  • @Karloff12969 good catch

  • @MrRex41591: yep that was Charlie Sheen... He was still cool back then

  • The guy in the yellow overalls: WTF?!

  • Just like her mother, she likes convertables.

  • I've been trying to find this song to download onto my mp3 player, but can't find it anywhere...rhapsody doesn't have it...does anyone know where to find it?

  • @johnson8479 I could send you a link to the MP3 if you would like.

  • @Elconquistador69too Could you please send me that link also by chance for ronnie milsap ?

  • @Elconquistador69too Could you please send me that link also ?

  • @Elconquistador69too send me an mp3 link to this too

  • @johnson8479 you should buy the cassette tape to support the artist!!!

  • @photofitrehelper me too

  • @photofitrehelper So did I! I love her she is awesome!

  • Damn, i saw this video countles of times in my youth from a music video VHS casett my mom bought. In the same casett there were plenty of music videos, for exempel i just call to say i love you with Steven Wonder. On the same casett there where a video called Black and white with a female singer. Does ANYONE know wich video im talking about? I have had the darn song in my head for yeeeaaars.

  • @Galimah The closest thing I can think of is "Black Stations White Stations" by M+M (aka Martha and The Muffins) it would have been a (minor) hit around the same time as this video.

  • @plusone19 OH that is the ONE!!! You are my hero. I can close another chapter of my life.

  • The plane- the plane!!

  • This video makes me smile

  • Yea, that is John Doe playing the guitar in that convertible.

  • Everyone notices Mariska Hargitay, but isn't that John Doe from X as the guy playing the guitar solo? CLassic.

  • First and only time I have ever seen a woman moonwalk in high heels. This song kicks!

Interesting note in case nobody noticed... at 4:21 when the vette drives through the showroom window, the windhield of the vette shatters too and the driver ducked down to avoid getting hurt.

I think I remember seeing that little tidbit on Pop Up Video.

    *POP*

  • MAN!! I remeber seeing this on Mtv back in the day, and trying to hide the fact that I loved this song from my homeboys... I miss the 80's (Bring this shit back!!)

  • Let's see Michael Jackson moonwalk in heels that high.

  • Awesome! I'm glad you posted this, I remember this song vividly! Thx for pointing out Mariska as well! What a doll she is, just like her mother.

  • Mariska <3

  • I heard this song only a couple of times on the radio back in the 1980s. back then they did not know how to rate this song either Country or Pop. then, Ronnie Milsap was soley country music.

  • GOTTA LOVE THE MILSAP!! HUGSSSSSS TO RONNIE WHEREVER YOU ARE!!

  • i dont know if this has been coverd but this is not from 1984 i recall it more around later 80s anyone know when it was out on american radio?

  • @sprintbass i found out it was 84! now im trying to find the album that this song was on because its not on any of his greatest hits..i guess because it wasnt one of his bigger ones but i still like it! I want to know what sort of vocoder he used for the voice effect..

    D

  • @sprintbass I have good news for you. This awesome song is now on a Ronnie Milsap compilation released in 2008 called 'Playlist: The Very Best of Ronnie Milsap'. I believe there are 14 tracks on the cd. The song was originally on his 1984 album 'One More Try For Love'. More good news: There is even a DVD of some of Ronnie's earliest music videos called 'Golden Video Hits' that was released in 2004. It includes 7 videos, including She Loves My Car.

  • @JVernon83 hey!

thats great. I grew up in NC like milsap did in winston salem..and back then i wasnt really into country..but when i heard she loves my car and stranger in my house, that cross over he did into pop really impressed me. He seems like a very nice down to earth man, im 37 now so i was pretty young in 84 but i was collecting albums cutting grass as far back as 82..Ill get on amazon.com and see if i cant find it..thanks for taking time to let me know, i appreciate that!

  • Only Mariska could rock that hair, that dress and that cheesy video! Bet she gets a big laugh out of this stuff now!

  • love this song!

  • this is from the album, one more try for love

  • please please pleasem, someone post his song 'who's counting'!!!!

  • thanks for posting. Classic tune.

  • I am a huge Ronnie fan and have almost every one ochoa albums but more seem to show up and I've never heard this one

It's a good one.... Like all the others. :-)

  • Thank you so much, Econquistator! Haven't heard this song in 20 years!!! :)

  • Yes the video is pretty cheesy, but this song rocks better than anything on the charts today and Ronnie sings the hell out of it. He deserves credit for doing a song and video that no other male singer in country music could have pulled off.

There's literally no style of music Ronnie cannot tackle. One of the most versatile singers in America.

  • I bought a Volkswagen convertible and I swear when I drive it I have hot 20 year old girls all over me. My wife says I

can' t drive the car without her since they ignore her and put the make on me.

It's not that I am 6'2" and 235 Lbs of muscle , it is the VW.

Who says young people these days don't have class?

    I love American girls.

American woman, stay next to me eeeee.

  • Crap! It's a young Mariska Hargitay! I love Law and Order: SVU!! The song is great too and so is Ronnie!!!

  • @903davesharonpoky omg, thats awsome...she looks soo young!! i love SVU too. XD

  • Vintage cars.. Pac 1 highway.. Airstream trailers on the beach.. beautiful babes... neon.. If you don't love this video.. you just dont "get IT".

  • If a person didn't know any better, watching this for the first time, they might think this video was a homage or making fun of the 80's...unfortunately, it was smack dab in the middle of it. So many cliche's in this....just about the only thing missing is a table with a big pile of cocaine on it.

Don't get me wrong, I like Ronnie Milsap...I just think this video is really, really cheesy.

  • @countrybill45 Good observation. Don't knock the eighties though, I lived it and it was a fecking blast, even the cocaine!

  • @stonedpimpdaddy not only that woman knew how to dress then and looked and acted like woman..i look around today and see how life is compared to growing up in the 80s as a teenager and i feel like im a relic from another time..but ill argue the 80s were better than now..music...life in america..back then america was AMERICA woman were woman..life was good..and now? Dont get me started:)

  • i dont get the beggining and end of the video....the news part..is it saying the girl in the car got into an accident? or is it just there as backround noise?

  • the music sort of sounds like something huey lewis would do but its still awesome

  • i find it strange ronnie is not in the video at all

  • Obviously you do not remember what Ronnie looked like in the 80's or you never watched the entire video. He comes on at 3min 58secs into the video

  • It would be inaccurate to say he is not in the video at all. His face is in the portrait on the wall of the auto dealership and in the side-view mirror of the car. Also, he s shown singing at the end of the video.

  • well lets see he mrkoolnerd.... his face appears in the mirror at 2:11 mark and the 3:58 mark.... did you watch the whole video? come on man!!!!

  • Ronnie can jam...and the whole video is well dated in the looks and surroundings....good times!

  • Certainly more rock & even pop than country! Released in 1984 as a B-Side for the Country Top 10 hit Prisoner Of The Highway, She Loves My Car should've been #1 Hot 100 & Mainstream Rock, maybe Top 50 Country to promote said hit. Sadly, it was too late; MTV changed the music format from rock to pop & R&B & videos became 'art forms rather than promotional tools' thanks to Michael Jackson's Billie Jean, Beat It, & Thriller. Ronnie Milsap should've tried 1982; maybe the chartings would've occured!

  • lots of hot chicks in this video

  • I did OK with girls and then I got a good job and bought my dream car, a Porsche 911 Carrera and then good looking hot chicks couldn't get enough time with me.

This song tells it like it is.

Funny, when I met my wife the Porsche was in at the dealership getting serviced and I didn't tell her about it and kept in my garage until we were engaged and I was driving a Volkswagen cabriolet and she didn't really care.

  • at 1:50 you cant tell me that dont look like johnny knoxville in jackass when he plays the old man lol

  • Ronnie Milsap was cooler than any country artist. He liked rock just like anyone else that likes rock. He DID make his mark in country though. Gotta go where the money was at the time.

  • 2:27-2:32....popping & locking in a country song...PRICELESS!!!!!!!!!

  • X L ENT!!!

  • Toondan, if a living legend like Ronnie isn't good enough for you, there's always Kenny Chesney twanging about his tractor being sexy. Better yet, there's also Simon Cowell who is more than happy to tell you who to like...

  • The lyrical echo effect in this Ronnie Milsap sounds "Police like."

  • Does anybody know who directed this video? I wanna say David Hogan, but I could be wrong.

  • This is one of my all-time favorite Milsap songs because it shows the great versatility of this man's voice!

There's absolutely nothing "country" about this song, and Ronnie sounds as convincing as any rock singer out there.

Country, rock n' roll, blues, pop ballads, Bach and Beethoven, 50's doo wop, R&B...there is literally no style of music this guy cannot sing!

LONG LIVE THE LEGACY OF MILSAP MAGIC!!

  • The reason that it isn't country was that it was a #84 pop hit - it didn't chart on the country charts.

  • Just because a song appears on the pop charts doesn't mean that it is not country. Take "(There's) No Gettin' Over Me", for example. This song was a #1 country hit and a Top 5 pop hit. "She Loves My Car" did indeed chart at #84 on the pop charts. However, that has nothing to do with it or with it not being country.

  • I know about crossover country hits, like the Ronnie song you mentioned, plus "Islands In The Stream" by Kenny & Dolly, and many of Juice Newton's hits in the early 80's, but this song was directed at the pop music field, as there is not one fiddle or steel guitar in the whole song, and no cowboy hats, haystacks, etc. in the video. Later on, TNN was the only outlet to play the video, but that was probably cause the majority of Ronnie's hits were on the country charts compared to his pop hits.

  • I thave not seen this in some 25 years, brings back those great 80's memories.

  • woo hoo mariska!!! lol luv ya

  • i wish ronnie millsap would of just stayd with country thts wht he does best but even this rock stuff he makes sound good hes marvolous any music he can sing

  • i love mariska in this video lol

  • I love the Corvette in this video. This song was so cool in the eighties and it still is today. I was a kid when this song and video came out. At the time, I was memorizing brands of cars.

  • P.S. The song is great no matter what. But -- I suppose it helps your enjoyment of this if you were alive in 84, and watched MTV -- which was, then, genuinely Music TeleVision.

A lot of the stuff in this video refers to a lot of other videos that were running at the time. It's actually quite clever.

  • Go, Ronnie, Go! (It's only a machine.)

O.k., some of you might find the video a bit too eighties -- but this song has one of the greatest popular music lines of all time:

"I wish she loved me the way she loves my car."

  • Great song, great video but only one big problem.

Brothers should never try to do the "robot" they have way too much rhythm and it looks kind of weird.

  • Mariska rocks!!!!

  • i know. when she kissed the guy i immediately thought, 'i've only ever seen mariska kiss that blonde psycho on svu...'

  • Stuckey...ew.

  • LMAO

  • Dang u know its a small world when i find you commenting on this video HAHAHA, I was watchen the THS and i wanted to see the vid LOL... HI C

  • LMAOOOO

  • And the Sonwriters are: Mac MacAnally and Robert Byrne. Tune recorded at Wishbone Studios in Muscle Shoals, AL Can't remember the guitarist, but it is the era of Eddie Van Halen.

  • Correction: The writer is Bobby Caldwell, the Cat in the Fedora Hat. But the singer chorus on the track is Mac, Robert Byrne, Hershey Reeves and Tommy Brassfield. 80s was a while ago for me, but what a rhythm track!

  • thanks so much for posting this-I remember it and enjoyed seeing it again!

  • I <3 Marish.

  • Yikes....an all-you-can-eat buffet of 80s cliches. I'm a big Ronnie Milsap fan, but I think his effort to seize the pop market here was a miscalculation. Still kinda fun to revisit though.

  • From the 1970s onward, Ronnie Milsap's music was always a fusion of country and rock or country and pop. Remember "Almost Like a Song"? I'd say that the closest Milsap entries to pure country were "Daydreams About Night Things" and "Pure Love". As for it being being fun to revisit, I will agree with you wholeheartedly there!

  • Oh I don't disagree about that. I thought some of Milsap's best recordings were his country-pop songs of the 1980-87 era. I was basically talking about this song only, which was clearly geared towards endearing Ronnie to the MTV crowd with a song that could not be considered country in any context. Since this song peaked at #84 on the charts, it clearly didn't work. At some point in 1984-85, it seemed as though country crossed a line and moved too much towards pop. This song is Exhibit A.

  • What are you taking about? He had successfully crossed over with Lost In The Fifties Tonight,Any Day Now,and Stranger In My House.I much prefer him doing just pure country, but he could pull off any genre successfully.I willl agree that Ronnie Milsap might have tried a little too hard on this video though in an effort to keep up with 80's trends like MTV and so forth.

  • El Conq,

Good job man (?), this video is like honey poured on the heart. Girls that make you say Grrrr! A great song that I haven't heard in 20 years and yet remembered every word.

And I ain't no country boy, neither!

Can't wait to show it to the wife and kids. My wife and I both loved the song, the kids'll get a big kick out of Mariska Hargitay (and they'll love the song if they know what's good for 'em!)

    Thanks.

  • No, thank you for stopping by. Please visit my channel if you get a chance. Long live the '80s!

    Peace~Roger

  • @Elconquistador69too you should upload all the ronnie milsap album that are rare because he has done too many good songs that have been forgotten

  • who is the HOT car dealer guy, I've seen him in movies before.

  • Oh Yea, Ronnie , you Kick ASS !!!.....oNE OF THE gREATEST, OUTstanding range in his vocals and great writing.....Love "She's always in love " too.....You Rock Ronnie !!!!

  • Mr. Adventure in STII TWOK....LOL

  • @kobyashi45 ,

Actually, "Mr. Adventure" was Uhura's "hostage" in STIII - TSFS.

    Kirk: Can you handle that..?

Uhura - Oh, I'll have "Mr. Adventure EATING OUT OF MY HAND, sir! And, I'll see all of you at the rendezvous. Oh, and, Admiral? All my hopes!" (Yes, I know the original Star Trek movies a LITTLE TOO WELL!!)

  • Omg. This makes me laugh so much!

    Gotta love the 80's!!

This is awesome. Mariska's hair is just legend.

    Haha, I love this.

  • gotta love MARISka she is GORGEOUS

  • shes so pretty here

    shes always looked pretty

  • it's funny..the old looking guy at 1:51 kinda looks like johnny knoxville when he played the old guy on jackass 2.

  • I remember loving this song and video as a kid growing up in the 1980's. An underrated song by a criminally underrated singer!

Anybody who thinks Ronnie Milsap is nothing more than a "country singer" is proved totally wrong after hearing this song! Name any other country singer with the voice to belt out a rock song like this without an ounce of country twang???

Long live the legend of RONNIE LEE MILSAP!

  • That's not Morgan Fairchild. That's Rebecca Holden.

  • Sheepbedamned,

That's Rebecca Holden all right - i recognize her from her one season as April Curtis on "Knight Rider".

  • Well...after many years of looking for this song on CD, it has just been released on a CD compilation! I just happened to pick up the CD at Wal-Mart thinking I'd see the same old Ronnie Milsap songs as always and this was on there!!! It's called Playlist: The Very Best of Ronnie Milsap on RCA Nashville/Legacy. Playlist is a cool new line of compilations in digipaks - all the liner notes are on the CDs themselves as pdf files. It was awesome to finally hear this song remastered in CD sound!

  • 1.03 - enter Mariska hargitay. I wonder what she thinks when she watches this now? Olivia Benson would never approve. LOL.

This song rocks. I always sing it when I get in a car now.

  • i know really Olivia Benson would strongly disapprove!

  • this is a kick ass song and mariska Hargitay is gorgeous

  • This song was the first song by a Country Artist to appear on MTV, back in 1984 MTV used to have a 1/2 program on Sundays nights where they played music by other artists aother than pop or rock stars, as long as they felt the music fit their format. I remember seeing this video on that show.

  • I have been trying to track down even just a clip of Ronnie's version of this song for years. Finally! You are officially the s***!

  • Well thank you, it's great to be the s***!

  • Cool vid....I remember it from TNN back in the day, but did it ever air on MTV?

  • wow that song and video was total crap but Mariska Rocked it. Gah that woman is a goddess.

  • I always loved this song and haven't seen the video since around 1985!!!!!THANKS.

  • Does anyone know the name of the young salesman in this video?

  • Isn't it Scott McGinnis??

  • Mariska is soo hot in this video ..i mean shes HOT everywhere but here hes super sexxxy.!

    damnn

  • **SHES

  • danm mariska is fucking sexy

  • I wish Mariska still had that '80s hair! For that matter, I kind of wish it was still the '80s.

  • lol. i wish i was alive in the 80's it seems like it was sweet. i did love mariska's hair back then tho.

  • hahaha. this is so campy. ohh, mariska.

  • thats totally mariska hargitay hell yea

  • Great video!! I've looking it for years!! Thanks

  • Thank you my fellow Americans. Gas use is down 10 million gallons from last year. You made the oil companies your beee-aaatth. Gas prices are dropping like rocks.

    God I love America.

    Proud to be an American.

Don't "F" with Americans because we will "F" you over.

  • Where did you find this video? I can't find it on itunes or amazon or anywhere.
