  • Lol, this is so old

  • As an oldtimer (Yankee Rebels mid-70's) I have a question..Why are all the drums on stands?

  • lol 1:28 bass 2 flinches on the transition. close one :P

  • omg

    i love the bassline

  • man those drums are sexy >.>

  • lolololol @ the multi bass

  • too bad it's so compressed I can hardly hear it.

  • anybody else see tim jackson hit the drum four of the guy next to him at 4:13?

  • @LAKings0101 yeah, they all hit each others drum for that section of the warm-up

  • bassline owns this video

  • Bad camera footage, but great drumming.

  • thats wierd, they are in the same place they were this year during RCC for warm ups. haha, I guess its there warm up spot

  • Is the first song accent tap?

  • ya dude

  • i love the basses

  • the basses are doing awesome!

  • KICK ASS basses. (:

  • Does anyone have the tenor music for this version of Flams?

  • Dude, I've been looking for that music for ages

  • Me too lol. I have the 08 version and it's just weird. I like this one better

  • my favorite all time blue devil line would have to be

    1994 Snares, 1995 Basses, 1996 Quads

(BD's 1996 Quads might be the best quad line in DCI of all time with maybe only 1992 SCV Quads being able to match them)

  • I have to agree on the 96 quads being the best, but not so much with 94 snares

  • of scott johnson's lines (94-on) that 94 line was ridiculously clean.

talent wise, (individually) they were all of the typical talent level you'd expect from a BD snareline.

the difference is that the 94 snareline had numerous vets from other strong Div. I DCI lines and when that much experience and talent is combined, you get that 94 BD snareline

Their book wasnt close to the hardest book under Scott, but they played the fuck out of it

  • My high school line was taught by Sean Vega, Roger Carter and Shayler Barnes, we rocked.

  • Pay attention to their book.

And you'll see how for the most part, the Snares mimic the trumpet/soprano parts

the tenors mimic the mellophones and the alto voices

while the basses are usually on par with the baris, euphs, and contras

  • wooow rcc's drum captain marched blue devils more than once( but being part of both lines is quite an amazing achievement

  • why do ppl only think that snares and tenors are hard to play in all aspects bass and cymbal can be as hard to play cuz u hold a heavier instrument and u have to be a great counter and memorize 5-6 parts then ur part thats hard i shold know i've been on the bass line since freshmen year and it's a lot better than being a snare in many aspects.

  • thats because with snares and tenors, the skill and talent of timing, hand, and mastering of rudiments required to execute is magnified since the voicing structure makes the tenors and the snares the lead voice and therefor being the more exposed part in the piece while the basses are the support and essentially provide the "timing" of the line and cymbals add impact and expression/emotion to the piece.

relating it to the voicing of hornline

    Snare=Sopranos

    Tenors=Mellophones

    Bass=Contrabass

  • I used to watch the blue devils practice at mount diablo high school back in the 70's when i was a kid. This sure brings back alot of good memories

  • what a great bassline

  • can someone send me the sheet music to their double beat exercise

  • Okay so i was wondering who has a better tenor line: cavies, phantom reg. or the blue devils?

  • bd.

  • @drumguyrob Actually, cavies, atleast now haha

  • cadets, BD and cavies usually have rockin tenor lines, but don't forget Bluecoaots or Phantom

  • Comment removed

  • Its different every year. I would say the BD's tenor line has the fastest splits, but that's because of their book. I'm pretty sure those tenor lines are all pretty capable.

    -Captain Obvious

  • blue devils have best tenor line phantom has best snares and cadets have the best bass line. oh and scv has the best cymbal line haha

  • @rreemmzzrruullee lies bd may have the best talent as far as chops go on tenors but phantom has the best musicality and best snares cavies suck boston and the cadets have an even matched bassline if u ask me

  • Comment removed

  • @ahsdrum01 from what year...this year phantom...09 BD...08 Cavies....07 phantom...06 BD

  • @ahsdrum01 for sure bd haha

  • @ahsdrum01 BD did until Tim Jackson left, then Phantom and Bluecoats took the spotlight.

  • I wish the sound didn't suck so bad. I still love this vid though.

  • lOVE THE SWEEPS AROUND 1:44....MAKES ME WANNA SKEET

  • i think i did skeet skeet like a water hose :/

  • i could watch this all day........

    .

  • Dude me too! I watch it almost everyday!!!

  • WOW!!! Tim Jackson and Casey Brohard!!!These guys are amazing!!!

  • 5:34 to 5:46...wow

  • woah go bass line!

  • Thanks for enlightening us.

  • your welcome.....people can hate me...but i dont care/.....bc im a the SWAC kind of guy....not dci

  • i love the way the basses sound on here....you can hear each and every not and its sooooo perfect. the quads sound like they're in water *in a nice way of course lol*

  • i meant to say note not "not" oops

  • Yeah. I totally agree with you! the Basses are so clean you can hear every note they play especially in the first section of this video! Fantastic! Blue Devils rule all! The Tenors are the best section, then the Basses then the monotonous Snares

  • to everyone that's arguing or picking arguments:

    you guys are idiots.

get a life, try out for a corps, or stop talking trash, either about corps or just about other people. you're the lowest common denominator in our society because you use internets forums as bully pulpits. grow up.

  • guy below me.. i bet your pussy ass cant hold that big dick bass up. probaly scrapes on the ground when you march, you bitch!

  • ghe can't even spell bass

  • blue devils didnt win drums that year.

  • No shit Sherlock?

  • You said they did?

  • Oh I meant 2007. Not 2006.

  • They got in 3rd 2006. 2007 is when they won High Percussion.

Sorry it did sound weird saying it on a 2006 video my bad.

  • amazing bass splits

  • that exact spot is where my drumline warmed up dureing the Big Orange Classic this year :P

  • yeah its hard to be on that particular drumline but its easy if you wanna be on the pussy cadets

  • cadets arent pussies. They whooped bds ass this year. Atleast in drums

  • That's funny, because the Blue Devils won the High Percussion Trophy.

  • at the two competitions I went to, they beat BD in drums. Both times. It's disputed, but bd's book this year was shit. Just a bunch of monkey drumming and rolls and a check pattern drum break. not that they didnt play it well. Cadets music was much more satisfying.

  • Nothing compares to BD's 2003 book imho. :P But yea, I agree that their book for 2007 was... entertaining but, not quite as stunning as past years.

  • Haha that's funny because PR got high percussion that year.

  • Dude when do you age out?

  • 21 is when you age out...well technically 21 is your last year. 22 is when you can't play. unless you turn 22 during the summer

  • Haha thanks for the reminder man.lol I was actually commenting to regiment212 who is Dan Rainbow from Phantom Regiment.

  • Ah the days of carrying the snare...not a blue devil fan, but you gotta respect the drumline...

  • baseline is sick

  • i totally agree! i thought i was good at base!!! people say i look weird because im only 5'3" and i'm on 5th base...so short!

  • BASSLINE!<3

  • is it hard to be in the drumline?

  • For the Blue Devils it's pretty ridiculous, but if you're a mediocre player, you can probably make pit at your high school.

  • that bass line is so sick

  • woot those bass splits are killing me man xD

  • This grooves

    =p

  • what happened to people just enjoying good drumming? by the way...they did win high perc this year! ;)

  • What's with the tenors at the beginning sounding like unlearned street drummers? I do not subscribe to youtube for Angel from RENT. D:<

  • whats with the stands under the tinors s and basses i mean weve never practised with those before

  • anyone got music for this

  • this guy must play tenor because there is very little snare shots (which is what i was looking for)and only a little bit more bass...

  • it's so crazy how random people know so much about people's personal lives that are in drum corps. If I were in it, and I were someone like Casey or Javi or something, I'd be freaked out.

  • omg i saw them at rccc yesterday and they changed thier fricken drums again!!

its like a greenish black and the first bass from rcc is now playin 1st bass for bd:]

  • grid has gotten to the point it warps my brain...

  • mmm...that last excersize. I love it. yum.

  • damn why is fernados head always in every video, haha, he kicks ass

  • Oops that's at 5:47

  • I guess snare techs like Chinese food.

  • LOL @ 4:47: Got some chow mein, man?

  • when you cover your ears, you can hear more...

you can hear how clean or how dirty the basses are especially...

  • That's cool.

  • wow that's a really good idea thanks for mentioning it

  • Haha, that one guy in the audience was covering his ears

  • That was one of the Snare Techs, I believe.

  • im tired of looking at tim jackson -_-

  • Is it just the angle, or do the bass heights look off? It looks like the bottom guy is going farther than the rest.

  • yay for anaa javi and mike B.

  • The guy to the left of Casey looks like he was on RCC Indoor line in 06

  • he was

  • Yeah that guy is Javi Ortega, him and Matt Regua (far right snare 06, center snare for 07 BD) are the instructors at my High School, Rubidoux High in Riverside, CA. They do RCC as well as some others in the BD drumline, but I don't know too many specifics :P

  • its not the same guy

  • god damm those bass drum splits are cleaner than a babies bottom !

  • i like the bass lick alot!

  • I love the bd

  • sweet clean bass splits.
