  • its no big deal i have 93 and it makes a shit ton of noises between water pump, bearings in power steering and timing, valves and fuel injectors. but as long as u take care if it it will run forever

  • mine is fikthy but quiet as a church mouse ....sounds like a bad bearing on a pulley

  • I believe my car is making the same noise... its not a constant slight tick or knock.. but when the rpm idles down... it tick or knock for like 5 times then it goes back to the regular engine sounds.. im.not sure.. have you fix the problem yet? Because i am.lost...

  • @ReconHHC Purple Power wash and armorall. Armorall not really good for plastic and rubber parts but if you wanna clean engine.... >_< And that intake helps at high rpms and warm days. Its a cold air based intake. Its kinda blah on cold start cold days though.

  • How do you keep your engine so clean?

  • @taitai907 This was before the massive hunting that my step father does >_< But purple power and lots of elbow grease does pretty good :D

  • thats a water pump. i had the same problem. still havnt fixed it yet lol. no biggy. as long as u get water threw your system your fine. mine has been making that noise for about a year and i just dont feel like fixing it.

  • i would get a timing light and check out your timing, it very well could be off. Now if its the water pump, you still have to take off the timing belt anyways, make sure you mark stuff

  • Hey KiroTheGreat I just noticed that you 4runner has two lines on the upper radiator hose! My 4runner only has one upper hose. What is the second hose for( the one that returns to the engine)? Also, does anybody know what the meaning of the number 61 is( the number on the passenger side of the engine!)? pause @ 0:43 sec of the vid. My 4runner has a 42. Ive been searching online but i cant find anything.

  • That sound is normal for the 3vz, it is a mixture of the valve train/ injectors. The only bad sound i heard was from you MAF your intake shouldn't have that sucking air sound. You fix that my adjusting the Idle "Air Control Valve" or tampering with the MAF it self which if done improperly will mess up your MAF. Playing around with the Idle Air Control Valve wont cause any harm.. Looks like an awesome truck! It is idling very cleanly.

  • im a auto tech and that noise does not sound like a rod knock if it was it would be loudest at a slightly higher rpm (1500

-2500) and from the video it sounds louder at decel but its hard to tell. and its defenetly not valves, it would be a defined ticking. sounds to me like a timing belt pully or a pully bearing to that fact. check to see if any coolant looks to be coming from the bottem of the timing belt cover it could be the water pump bearing. anyway just a thought

  • check torgue converter bolts

    or rear mains knocking

  • That sound is a combination of your fuel injectors and your valves...it's normal.

  • Nah i know all the noise of the valves and injector ticking but at about 48 secs and 1:00 theres a distinctive knocking you gotta listen closely.

  • See i did think about that. Possible water pump but i've never heard one knock before they usually make more high pitched screteched noise...

  • @KiroTheGreat If the berring is loose it will move around and knock!

  • could need valve ajustment or water pump area making any noise on belt system?
