The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which unskilled people make poor decisions and reach erroneous conclusions, but their incompetence denies them the metacognitive ability to recognize their mistakes.[1] The unskilled therefore suffer from illusory superiority, rating their ability as above average, much higher than it actually is, while the highly skilled underrate their own abilities, suffering from illusory inferiority
@thatonetallkid444 naturally I was also sympathetic, but I tend to be kind hearted anyways...but yes, I'm glad we did not lose him to. That must've been very hard...Funny though, if you go church and listen to the others there you will discover that people go through both joys and tough challenges daily. I agree that I am glad Neil is still with us and that his loss was very severe.
Good new & bad news question: unlike Neil, I usually prefer to receive the bad news first based on the idea that the good news will help me to feel better after having had to hear the bad news...Until I saw this video I did not know he is the other way and wants the good news first.
@MiriamSPia yeah, deep philosophy . .the idea is that when bad news hits, you'll have to deal with it; good news makes you feel better but you don't need to FEEL better, you need to GET better. Get the good news first to naturally boost your strength then when you get the bad news you'll be better able to deal with it . . that's the philosophy, anyway . .
if you are young and don't realize your listening to one of the top five best bands ever, well you got your taste in musical out of a crackerjacks box!
Rush is and always will be, one of the most phenomenal bands ever to grace the charts!
their musical talent makes today's music laughable.
@SongsForMyGirlfriend considering your name is songs for my girlfriend... you don't make decisions anyway. oh snap. lol Beatles, Stones, Rush (top 3 sales in the world all time) period. my point is "wow, if led zep wasn't a bunch of drug addicts they might have been good" peace
@napalmcoffee what do you mean by that? Besides, that's the guy who was in the bow tie 20 years ago. Maybe he's an actual or almost gentleman. I like that, but that's not surprising since I'm a woman.
For any unfamiliar with the recording process, it's amazing. A band I managed made an insignificant record. We bought 60 hours at a local studio and recorded only 6 songs. Like Rush, no drugs, women, simply just about the music. That was the rule. It was recorded at a 64-track residential-studio. I never realized the complexity of engineering, overdubs, vocals, etc and "piecing" it together. An insignificant record and I was amazed at the process. I can't imagine the process for Rush.
I've been a big Primus fan for years, and they played the YYZ-intro on their first album.
Then when I heard Rush I was like "What? Its from this band?"
I had heard like two songs, but I bought the Rush In Rio-dvd that had just been released, and its still the best music dvd I know... Damn, it was 7 years ago...
I agree. I have been listning to them since I was 14 (39 now) and I can place specific moments in my life with different albums and songs from Rush. I can Honestly say, I would not be who I am with out them.
I really wouldn't say S&A is their second best album, but it's great. There's just not much variation in there, mostly mid tempo stuff. But I LOVE all three instrumentals, Far Cry, The Way the Wind Blows, Spindrift haha.
But yeah, I guess I'm just another one of those 70s Rush is the Best Rush guys :P
I have been a rush fan since i was 14..I'm 46 now and even though the last 2 rush albums are not my favourite i stlii love rush, they are the soundtrack of my life and my biggest musical influences
The funny thing is: I am a brazilian and I am 27 now, I've been listening to Rush since I was 16. So in comparison to you I a whole other generation with a whole other background, and still I consider Rush to be the soundtrack of my life as well. Isn't it beautiful to see those three gentlemen inspiring so many different people around the globe?
That's true DJGuitar33, but Canadians are also some of the FUNNIEST people you'll ever meet. I suggest you watch the "Red Green Show" OR look for shows like "This Hour Has 22 Minutes", and "Royal Canadian Air Farce" on the net and see if you can watch streaming videos of those shows, THEN you'll understand how funny Canadians (including Rush) are!
I know. I've been to Canada I don't know how many times, and I love it, and the people. They are funny, and I think RUSH, especially Alex, is the epitome of it. My favorite actor, Jim Carrey, is probably the funniest actor alive (or was, when he was younger) and he's from Canada. I'm telling the truth, I'm moving there and living there some day.
Dude you are so right. I have been living in hicksville Ohio for 12 years and it sucks ass. Canada is the place to go and I am seriosly thinking about it
Thankyou so much, this is fabulous. As a person who attempts to play the guitar, listening to Alex Lifeson play is depressing because he is so fucking awesome and I know I can never reach that level. Never mind...
@voidstuff Yeah, actually this was a great video! Maybe I've been spending too much time alone myself? ...I dunno, I'm kind of reconnecting with these guys...Like tens of thousands or more of the other fans, I became a fan as a virgin teeny bopper and yesterday exposed my son to Rush music again and he liked it...He is about a year younger than I was when I first became Rush fan.
