  • fucking ass hat

  • sorry but you come across as a shit designer

  • @SprayMedia atleast he has good enough skill to actually design a show, unlike SOME people... (*looks at spraymedia*)

  • @EJSmithAWE i've designed plenty of shows actually

  • you new guys thinks this is a nice job pushing buttons and just aim lights.. think again

  • "major stage production", that was a good one!

  • Wow what a crap example of how to illuminate a set. Why on earth would you use parcans to light the stage. It doesn't look like he's heard of shutters or barndoors either.

  • Wow what a crap example of how to illuminate a set.

  • your desk is overkill... the shadows on the house are ghastly .. sort it out..

  • This was pretty useful thank you :) learnt a few things for the next production i will be doing, pride and prejudice with my school. I have a beasly task of lighting this in december... lol im only 16 :) it was very informative :)

  • sorry had to have a lil more rant this vid is just so wrong i had to :) anyway parcans for FOH wash? well thats completely wrong the coverage on a parcan isn't anywhere near good enough for a wash! i saw u walking around the stage and u had so men dark spots... and using movers for something as simple as that? that just docent make sence ur using things for the sake of using them. using that big a desk to control a few parcans and a few movers is way overkill and just shows really anyway shit vd

  • We do WAY more than this production in this space, and I have two on this campus =- )

  • No.

  • Nice! thanks for that, very informative and will help me alot!

I am the lighting designer for my school and I am looking for some ideas

    thanks

  • He is definitely not a profesional, there are many other smaller consoles out there like ETC's ION that handle moving lights well. And shouldn't any lighting console be able to handle non moving fixtures? I have taken a lighting design class in college this year and the wash approach is not the way professionals go about lighting design. I would say to use the McCandless method, but he probably would have no idea what i was talking about.

  • @bending1991 Any lighting console will handle moving light fixtures, hey I"m going to send you (4) MAC3's and you go ahead and use it with a non moving light console =- )

By the way, the wash approach is the way we approach in non theatrical solutions is wash, we can compare resume's later. McCandles is old and outdated in my opinion, but the above video is just that AN OPINION you will find a ton of opinions in this business.

  • @JeffsJourneys haha this a joke it has to be? btw u can operate moving lights on a non moving light consol, take the bull frog for example, if you pare up ur movers u have enough control on that desk to operate a small scale conert. and mcCandles is old and outdated? so your saying that something that works extremely well can get outdated? thats like saying wearing cloths is outdated... if it works it works and that works well so id like to see u come up with a design that looks better :)

  • How did you get a MAC TW1 on such a small scale show? It isnt even a theatre...just wondering? Also this no where near a pro show...if you only have 4 moving heads you can use an ETC express or ION no problem...

  • @EJ7M Because we OWN these fixtures, and it's one of THREE venues we have on this campus. I have 3 moving light desks and a PC based MAXEDIA.

  • All the sidelight bleeding onto the borders!! Awful - and this guy is meant to be a pro?! Your kidding.

  • Wow. If that desk was hired. Id sack the person who hired it in ! :O , Its proberly the only desk the company has left in the store. ,

    Good video though.

  • God... That desk is major overkill. He stutters when trying to defend himself about using a huge desk in a tiny venue.

"As you can see, it just lights the house." Yeah - and half of the fence.

Also, the assistant doesn't exactly know what he / she is doing.

But hey, that's just the sad truth i guess!

  • hello cool wash is not blue it is white at a bright color temprature blue is not as bright as a cool wash

  • i bet that guy is thinking "damn i think im sooo cool cause i have an "overkill" desk"

  • martin lightdesk now thats the bollocks and i thought martin light jocky was simple to use

  • Very nice video thank you. just wanna remind that don't need a bog consolle to use many moving lights. Today you just need a MAC with Vista app installed, no more big black ugly boxes ! Good Luck for your productions.

  • A full size Maxxyz console is waaaaay overkill for that production!!

My god man how did you stooge someone into paying for that??

Could have done the whole thing with Lightjockey or something!

  • Comment removed

  • @benniau right... right... have fun with using lightjockey full stop.....

  • @benniau LD's are notorious for only working with the best consoles and don't care about the cost. I truly talented designer can do twice as much as this guy with a console that costs $40,000 less.

  • thanks for video i am thinking about becomign a lighting designer
