im sure ill get flamed for this, but a lot of the lyrics strike tone with Luciferism, and before flaming, that isnt devil worship. its the belief that redemption can only come from within. you can only save yourself, not rely on another doing it for you. just an idea about what the song means. and then the perversions of bibel quotes "my will be done" etc lol... ;;>>
@Dorkus89 You are half correct. VNV philosophy is that you identify a problem and the strive to fix it by examples of your own actions. Too bad that today some see a problem and then strive to live within that reality instead of saying NO. Live to improve the world around us is what this song is saying.
nightowl8936, you ignorant fool! Do you even know what the Crescent Moon means that is your flag? Mine is the Cross. Your God Allah is not the God of this earth. You worship a Moon God!!!!!! You fool.
This song from the writer(s) relates a lot to what Christ said:
first of all shame and gods is what we relate to and follow. The chorus I feel really relates to the second coming of Christ and yes, He will create a new world and wipe every tear from our eyes.
@accessandamplify Bless you man have a great day by the way I'm no hippie None the less have a great day man . Much Love peace light and JOY ha ha ha kill em with kindnesss
I saw these guys live several years ago, it was so much fun. It was with a group of friends, and we all lost touch four years ago. Even though I'll probably never see any of those folks again, I'll never forget that amazing night.
the show in cali yesterday was pure emotion and power, I still cant believe i was 3 feet from ronan, and after his solo on "Where There is Light" i yelled Have my babies!! and he grinned and Mark Jackson laughed lol it was a damn good night, still in disbelief
to me this song was always about Europeans creating a positive form of nationalism that allowed the people to maintain their sovereignty without falling into the excesses of fascist nationalism.
Like many of their songs, this one seems to be about the inherent contradictions within the myth of the nation-state. In a narrative sense, it seems to be about the dissolution of one nation-state into another, from the perspective of the conquering nation. For an argument that the narrator is not morally spotless, examine the use of the first person in the chorus: the narrator is arrogating to himself the formation and authority of the new (redefined) nation-state.
Whats all this song interpretation about a Nation-state?
If you listen to the lyrics agin, I think you'll agree there are many clear references to religion.
From a quick look on a page with the Kingdom lyrics, it seems to me a commentary on moral degradation and destruction in the name of religion to try to recapture some kind of moral high ground.
The song narrator is saying that the way to salvation is to work to make things better for everyone.
I would say they're electro. Sub-genre needling aside. They do wax industrial however.
We need to stop inventing a new genre ever time someone comes along with a slightly different sound. If we can't do that then I'm going to classify my band as Light-Industrial-Electro-Pop-Gothic-Futurepop-hemitrance-techno-groove-gothic-punk-hardtech-hip hop.
On second thought, that is more fun. Let's do that instead XP
The band is so epic they have paved themselves their own genre, so stop bitching about whether they're EBM, Industrial, Gothic electrode- I dont give a fuck, i just wish you people would sit still and listen to good music
They stopped considering themselves Futurepop years ago, now it's considered a disgusting term.
Although Industrial is an umbrella term, this music is still connected to Industrial, namely "Industrial dance". There are different forms of Industrial, after all.
VNV stopped considering themselves Futurepop, like Ularewolf said, but to further elaborate on that, they DID call themselves "Futurepop" back when they started, but they said in an interview about 5-7 years later that they "regretted ever using the term".
the new album is not any of those three...it's more trance/electro than anything, with few songs here and there that differ from it like Ghost and the first and last track
EMBRACE SCIENCE, WELCOME THE TECHNOLOGICAL SINGULARITY! Only WE, can save OURSELVES....We shall conceive a heaven on earth! Built on top of this very hell in which we live.
@TheMetacognologist I despise bringing religion into singularitarianism, but I'm not quite awake yet and susceptible to inspiring stuff, so, that comment was win. Of course, once I'm fully conscious, I'll have marked this as spam.
Our domain, this kingdom come now godless lands whose ways are lost. Without the strength to carry on. All values lost all virtue none. Did you think you would be saved by burning flags to cleanse yourselves of shame? Or are you afraid as you stare back at your face? are you ashamed, are you afraid, by destroying what the gods had made? Did you think you would be saved? To me this song is about the modern western world and the decay we are in.
I think its just as applicable to the Muslim bastards who multiply like flies, who infest the wombs of as many women as they can with their parasitic maggot fetuses, who are then vomited into the world and give the world nothing but nihilism.
But once the Indian FGFA is in service, no flesh shall be spared. No maggot flesh.
Muslims love to burn flags and effigies, and murder and oppress one another. Seems pretty godless to me.
They are indeed in the hell they have created for themselves, and yet want to come to other countries to continue to spread their bullshit "religion" that commands them to kill and oppress and enslave.
@nightowl8936 What about the Christians who kill people to "please their God"? The burning of people at the stake as a "witch" because these people might think differently than them. PEOPLE ARE CORRUPT. You can't just blame a certain group. People are naturally blood-thirsty, destructive creatures. Selfish and at times immoral. EVERYONE is. So do not try to patronize a certain group of people. Do not generalize for you are just as hideous as all the rest.
@Dorkus89Malorkus Note that it also says "none will be saved!" For me, it is a call to action. We should bring about our own "heaven in hell", instead of waiting for salvation that will never come.
this song is one of their BEST. i remember the first time i heard this right after hearing 'firstlight' the first track on the album, and VNV had my heart at that point. it was so beyond other 'industrial/rivet' groups that were around at the time. and then of course when i heard 'Arclight' at the end of the album i felt like i was a new person. as tacky as their following and fanbase can be, ronan really is a deep person, and he's changed my life. thanks ronan (and mark)!
Dont get me wrong...I will go see them every time.. But they play the same set of songs in the same order...every time. Even the stage is always set up the same. The lights, the dancing, the projection screen...even what Ronan says between songs... all the same. Well, the one thing that did change was the addition of new songs to set list after each tour. But thats kind of the point.
This July will make the sixth time I have seen VNV. I mean, they are great...just kinda sad it doesnt change..
Dummkopf, this song is not about rejecting religion, as you should know: VnV nation does not advocate any ideas, theoris, or ideology. this song is about the technological era and what can be done, the hell on earth is the savage untamed land, heaven is civilization. ZenithTheDragon, you infact ARE an idiot.
this song reminds me of in the bible when moses comes down from Mt. cyanide and he sees that his ppl have made a new god and they all think that they will be saved by it
i doubt it, black metal is a satanic form of metal, i am a massive metal head, but this would make extremely wierd black metal...i luv all forms of industrial, and this is industrial, in its more trancelike form, but the whole genre is awesome, and started by MINISTRY!!!! (saw them on C U LaTour, they were epic)
industrial? I object to that being used as such an umbrella genre. Industrial music is about experimentation with found sounds, samples and weird shit.
Wtf? They're friggin famous as Hell! You're just not in the right crowd. that's why they've never heard them. Try hanging with the Rivetheads and almost anyone gothic. We listen to industrial 24/7, or at least most of us. Especially cyber gothic people.
im sure ill get flamed for this, but a lot of the lyrics strike tone with Luciferism, and before flaming, that isnt devil worship. its the belief that redemption can only come from within. you can only save yourself, not rely on another doing it for you. just an idea about what the song means. and then the perversions of bibel quotes "my will be done" etc lol... ;;>>

No offence but "Futurepop" is a term invented by the press, it doesn't refer to anything.
It's true that bands such as Covenant, VNV Nation APB or Icon of Coil released albums which sounded alike in 1999-2001 but that's all.
Futurepop has never been a kind of music.

maybe its weird by the fact that its not black metal ??????
that would be a logical answer ^-^

i doubt it, black metal is a satanic form of metal, i am a massive metal head, but this would make extremely wierd black metal...i luv all forms of industrial, and this is industrial, in its more trancelike form, but the whole genre is awesome, and started by MINISTRY!!!! (saw them on C U LaTour, they were epic)

No... started by throbbing gristle... they're where the term "industrial" came from... waaay back when.

dark trance, dark wave, and industrial are the three genres that vnv can be classified under.
you should listen to their newest album, it's a good one.

industrial? I object to that being used as such an umbrella genre. Industrial music is about experimentation with found sounds, samples and weird shit.
I like VNV but they're not an industrial band.

Wtf? They're friggin famous as Hell! You're just not in the right crowd. that's why they've never heard them. Try hanging with the Rivetheads and almost anyone gothic. We listen to industrial 24/7, or at least most of us. Especially cyber gothic people.
