You can´t really get around it. Synchronized swimmers tend to be among the most attractive (sexiest?) athletes around.

Being attractive helps them sometimes (sponsors...) and hurts them a lot (the people who think that these girls are being too sexual, or think synchro isn´t a sport).

And its why synchronized simming athletes have to work so hard at appearing serious and dedicated.

I totally agree! The speed swimmers at our pool are always like... "synchro isn't a sport" but we'd like to see them try! We actually had their coach as a substitute coach, and she liked coaching us so much that she now uses some synchro drills on the younger kids, but it's really the older ones that need to try... I've seen several people try, and it was FUNNY!!! I laughed ;-) We also met the US Olympic Team when they came to train at our pool, and it was amazing!!!!!!!!!!!

i would like to dare anyone out there that seems to think or say that Synchronized Swimming is NOT A TRUE SPORT to take the time to try it out. Then they can tell everyone how EASY it was for them and that it took no skill or mind power!! Less because you can see clearer what they're doing. With water.. i still think it's hard to see such intricate movements.

but synchro isnt judged underwater. the judges judge what the swimmers propel OUT of the water. and if they cant tell whats happening out of the water, then the swimmer is not high enough and therefore bad.
