@whatrugonnadocrazy He did 2 reps at 800lbs in a suit and wraps, which were quite high at a bodyweight of 136. It's not that impressive if you're trying to compare him to these guys. Great feat of strength, but wouldn't fly in the IPF.
@Aznnick1134 I believe it creates a better lever for handling more weight, and it's easier to bring it to parallel. When I squat with a high bar stance, I tend to have a hard time finding parallel and a lot of times drop deeper, which is essential if you olympic weightlift (Clean+Jerk, snatch, both catch the bar in a deeper squat stance than parallel). But when I do drop deeper, I can't handle as much weight. I guess it depends, but that's what I did when I competed.
I dont get why Welna'd lift wasnt successful? Looked like he got it back up himself, i dont know the rules obviously so anyone want to tell me why it was a "no lift"? I know he wobbled at the end but surely thats not enough to call it a fail. Anyone?
@dimitrovBxr77 e control of the weight once its lifted. certain criterias must be set or else people could simply lift it and fall on their face as soon as they have it up and call it successfull
Ofc the weight and the lifting itself is the most important thing. But at least some excitement, maybe some background informtation on liufters etc etc would make it more interesting for non-lifters. So more people maybe could get interested in the sport.
I know oly lifting. But those guys dont squat to get big numbers, they squat so it can help their main lifts, the snatch and clean. THESE guys squat to get BIG numbers, so they ONLY squat as deep as the IPF needs them to. You're just an ignorant fool, just as bad as those Bodybuilding nuthuggers.
You are right, oly lifters can lift some amazing weight.... in their MAIN LIFTS. Put an OLY lifter to go against a Powerlifter in the BENCH SQUAT OR DEADLIFT and they'll get destroyed. Its a different sport. Stop being a troll and dissing men that can squat 20x what you can even dream of.
they would never get beaten in a squat, that where all their power comes from, im not talking about a powerlifting squat i mean ass to grass olympic style.
Yes they would if the tried doing an ass to grass squat when everyone else is doing just whats needed to get three whites. This argument is pointless. If you dont like Powerlifting, then stop watching PL videos, and stop talking trash of men who bust their asses day in day out to get their amazing strength.
You have to attempt to rack under your own power once the lift is complete, since he stumbled the rerack wasn't considered under control and thus wasn't under his own power and he got blue carded for it. That's why it was a no lift.
heck yea. and so does usapl, which is a branch of ipf..
all these people are idiots that compair powerlifting to oly lifting... its like compairing football to hockey..they are both hard. and people just like to criticize things they cant do themselves
these guys do real freaking squats.

im ignorant about pl rules, why did the final lifter get disced? was it the stumble after he completed the weight?

wot a load of shit, 380kg half squats are not impressive. Olympic lifters are the only true strength athletes
trinity9011 2 years ago
first....that wasnt exactly a half squat
and secondly....not impressive? wtf? you know loads of people who squat 380kg then?
rooob02 2 years ago
i know a guy who can olympic squat 260 which is excepotionally harder than 380 half squat.
trinity9011 2 years ago
are you retarded? half squats? jesus man, what do you want, for them to leave their assprint on the floor or what the hell?
dresendezz 2 years ago
just search for some olympic squats and youll see what i mean. ass to calves is the only real squatin reatard!
