agreed... Ive got no problems with "gy" as it is pronounced exactly the same way as ď (Ď) or "d" in dě/di syllables in my language (Im Czech), what I find a bit more confusing for me is the "a" sound as it is something between Czech "a" and "o", so therefore producing the "á-a-o" sounds correctly is being a bit complicated for me. But I suppose to pick it soon, just need a few days of practise :-)

Btw. many Hungarian words sound funny to speakers of Czech :D such as "sajnos" :D

@thefoamycherry: I found this on Yahoo Answers. Maybe it can help you with your Hungarian "gy" sound. vagy = "vah" with the Hungarian "gy" sound at the end. The sound of "gy" is kind of like a "d" sound followed by "y", like the "dy" sound in the middle of the words "did you". It ends up sounding fairly close to an English "j". If you pronounce "vagy" to rhyme with the word "lodge" (vodge) you'll be close enough to be understood.

@isabelzavoranu thanks for the information! right now I'm in hungary and hungarians here keep saying that I pronounce "gy" too much like "j". I don't know if I will ever be able to make a proper pronounciation of it. but I don't care about that since I've done my best trying to learn it. i guess it's time for them to learn english! :D

@thefoamycherry: It's just going to take time and practice. It's like spanish speakers trying to pronounce the sh sound. It doesn't exist in standard Spanish and they always sound like they're saying "ch". Instead of "share", they'll say "chare". Thinking about it doesn't help either. Every time I see that gy I think "oh oh".

and also, when saying "megvagyok", is it pronounced like "megvadyok"?, why doesn't that first "g" turn into a "d"?
