@TennisAnnalyst cool, i would agree! You definitely should upload some videos! I for one am very interested in the biomechanics of tennis and im sure they are plenty more!
@TennisAnnalyst Yes every match is different, but its usually about 80 especially on the fh side. This video doesn't do these guys justice, the first time i saw lesser players hit (on court level in person) i was astonished. Fede especially just smothers the ball with power and spin. As you can see against djoko at the time of this match, one has to play though the middle of the court. This doesn't look that heavy or intimidating but the balls are so heavy that they have to take them on baseline
I've spoken to several ATP players/coaches, and they seem to agree that fede's ground strokes are usually about 80mph, sometimes dipping below for extreme angles or spin emphasis.
@TennisAnnalyst So an 85mph flat ball can feel similar to a 75mph heavy ball. It's a simple application of newton's laws, the ball may have a lower velocity, but the conservation of energy states that the balls kinetic energy will be very similar.
Secondly, statisticians for sports shows are actually very good. They are college graduates, and will do an accurate representation of the game. Whether or not this was median or mean average is not necessarily important, they probably chose the one
@TennisAnnalyst Not at all. First off, he was playing O, rochus which would actually contend to him hitting lower speeds. Basically roger was creating the pace in the match. Next, when two 'big dogs' play they hit at higher speeds. Ever notice the comon place term "belting" the ball. They hit as big as they can every ball. Spin reduces speed yes, but it increases the effective weight of the ball.
wow thanks for the feedback, i recently played in the us open playoffs (losing in the round of 16) and i was witnessed to a few pro level speeds...after that i have much more respect and understanding for these guys greatness at this level of play
This viewing perspective is so badass.

why pick the lamest points?

@FExpiate
There are no other points to pick if you want this viewing angle, as these are all of the court-level points that were shown during the match.

@TennisAnnalyst that was most reflective of the match.

@2xRyanx5 theres a stat recently show when federer was playing O. Rochus, he hits an average groundy at about 85mph, and a match high of 98.
