@MikeOBrien6640 Thanks for your comments and suggestions.Yes I know 45 mph is slow...but that is the cruise speed that would net close to 150mpg.I felt that building the proof of concept as a Bonneville race car with a goal of 150mph and 150mpg had a nice ring to it.The car should obtain 90mpg at 65mph.As far as why not finish it and run what you have....I have spent more time and money than I care to repeat here and as a result I can not proceed any further til I can get development funding .
I was just about to say you should look into Cyclone's external combustion engine, but it sounds like you already found that! Best wishes and keep up the good work :)
I like how some guy in his shop at home can figure out a car to get better fuel mileage than the automakers.. I still think they're purposely not getting fuel mileage up too far.
@arrivalblue2 Thanks, not only that but I am going to show the exotic sports car people the performance potential of it aswell.I am working on a plan to build the proof of concept prototype as a Bonneville salt flat race car.The challeng to be the worlds first to go 150mph/150mpg ...not at the same time but with the same car at differant throttle positions.Looking to form a team of like minded people to collaborate and fund the next phase of the project.
@arrivalblue2 Thanks,The new plan that is being considered is to build the proof of concept prototype as a Bonneville Salt Flats race car.The endeavor would be called the : 150mph / 150mpg Challenge. It would be a two step approach 1-to go 150mph with the car and 2-to cruise at say 45mph and try to achieve 150mpg this would show how performance and energy efficiency go hand in hand.
@Zoltanbod Couple of thoughts...why not finish it and run it as it is with what you have...? Then design/modify as you are driving it thus getting the car/word out NOW instead of who knows when? The 150/150 challenge is a great idea and that is close to what Craig Vetter is promoting. May I suggest that you change the dismal idea of 45mph to real world 65-70mpg, like real world driving! Nobody in their right mind drives that slow. It is stupid that that they do. :{)
Keep up the superb work, but please continue making it "REAL" world please, please! I am building a Craig Vetter Challenge vehicle now that is diesel powered and am excited to make it to his 2012 Northwest Challenge, location TBA. It would be awesome if you would run your vehicle in that challenge, June 1st and 2nd 2012. Just get it driving and lets work out the bugs together. Too may of us think too much and have to have it all perfect,......Get it on the road! :{)
@arrivalblue2 you are exactly correct sir. History has repeatedly shown If "they" can not profit from it or regulate it, they'll kill it one way or another... :{)
streamlining is one of the best things you can do,motorcycles are a good example, putting a teardrop shape around a motor cycle almost doubles the mileage and or range of electrics, look at the worlds fastest bike cycle, 82 mph,a teardrop body surrounds it.Light weight and streamlining is the secret to high mileage, not some 150 mpg carb, combustion engines are not very effiecent, electric's are close to 80 percent, streamlining is the way.
I like this concept but the marketing behind it needs a reality check and laws on the books are harsh on car builders. Trying to get insurance on it will be a hassle. But I love people who push the status quo.
@egn83b Thanks for your comments..The only sources I can afford for marketing right now are Youtube and Facebook.... because it is free. All my money went to get the design into a full size model stage.Things are happening....Discovery Channel saw it on Facebook and came out to film a segment for the Daily Planet which will air soon..that will give me good exposure to start...it will be interesting to see the response. The website is almost ready. Once I get more funding it's full speed ahead.
@Zoltanbod Well then you are a lucky man. I have seen many on youtube that have talked the talk but if discovery channel likes what you have then you are a made man you will get exposure and grants left and right. If you get on tv its a great time to get some government money to start a venture and maybe a small scale car production.
@pheenix42 I hope I don't end up like Preston Tucker,I hope to partner with someone with extraordinary business skills. About the mileage estimates that I have on the car .I ran all of my data through the Aerodynamic & rolling resistance, power & HP calculator available from Ecomodder and came up with these results. 50 mph/132.8mpg us, 60 mph/103mpg us, 65mph/91mpg us
@kseawalker77 Yes I have ,I have been following all of the competitors in the Progressive Ins automotive X-prise.The Aptera tried 41 times to pass the obsticle avoidance test @ 45mph before it succeeded. It is a neat project with what seems to be some engineering issues.Zoltan.
Like your design and process. I've used something similar to mock up a prototype watch?v=fsgG3i7fVDU But the next step is to make a real plug, like you've done. What sort of foam did you use?
@kokopelli314 I used your standard variety aerosol expanding insulating foam .A tighter celled foam would have been better .But once it is covered in fibreglass and locked in it's shape the foam has done it's job. This foam in my application will next be removed and fibreglassed from the back side so that this plug can be used on an actual car prior to the moulds being built as part of the fine tuning process.
@stopglobalswarming Thanks for the comment.I designed the interior space exactly for two tall adults and two kids in the rear seat.It is actually quite roomy. With the front seat in the full rear position for somebody who is around 6ft 2, there is 10inches of rear leg room. Thanks again.
Hello,my name is Zoltan the creator of the Zoleco.I am quite interested in peoples ideas about my car .If you find the project of interest please make a comment.
i can understand that, sure would be nice to see it out and running while you finish though. :{)
