  • Cool? I think

  • erm water??????

  • @Petehovercraft Hey, What kind of engine did you use? brushless?

  • @ramonsanto080 yes, it is a 11.1v electric brushless motor

  • What size propellor did you use? And how much of the structure is plywood? And roughly what length is the hovercraft? How did you come up with the scale of the hovercraft, trial and error?

Sorry for a thousand questions but im trying to replicate your hovercraft ^^

  • @DrGrondos Ok, It has a 7inch (17.8cm) propeller, it just has two blades, i have several, all with different size areas of blade coverage, i found the wider ones are better as they keep the air pressure in the skirt higher. The chassis is 60cm long and 30cm wide. This was the only real size i tried.

  • @Petehovercraft Thanks, I bought a 9inch propellor and my chassis is 40cm long :\ Also im going to distribute the power 40/60 40 been the bag and 60 for push. This is just the prototype made out of cardboard, all experimental, see what happens.

I was thinking of making the chassis out of plywood and everything else out of balsa with corner blocks for support... Do you think this will work or are there other areas that need plywood?

    Thanks again. Very helpful.

    Steve

  • @DrGrondos That sounds like a good ratio but it does depend on the power of the motor and the total weight.

I put up a video of it made of cardboard, it is much easier to design with and they go better as they are much lighter.

Mine is all plywood although i have tried making the rudder supports from cardboard (which does work). So balsa should be fine. Make sure the motor is attached to the plywood though...

  • Very beautiful work, compliments...

  • can you show it from below please thats the only think i have problems with ^^ (sry for bad english i am german :P)

  • @MrLucydog6 If you pause at 0:25, 0:33, 1:44 and 1:50 you can see it from below. There are other videos of it on my channel as well. There is only one hole in the bottom of it.

  • Lol, I was thinking "When did it ever snow like that in the UK?" Then I remembered, It snowed really heavily not-so long back, that was a Fun 2 weeks off school...

  • very good job dude!

what kind of batteries did you use? i have bought a hovercraft kit a long time ago, and had lots of problems with the weight.

  • Weight was a problem with mine to, i'm using a 11.1V 1200mAh lithium battery, its from a plane kit so is very light :)

  • dude that thing hauls ass!
