@Darkwrath93 'Slav' comes from 'slovo'. The Proto-Slavic name is reconstructed as 'slověninŭ'. It meant something like 'the speaking ones', or the 'the ones with words', in contrast to the Germanic peoples, the mute ones (немцы, to use Russian).

Slava comes from the same root. It evolved from the meaning of fame or praise (i.e. people talking about you)

I was wondering why they choose the name Arkona, as it has no relation to eastern Slavs at all, Arkona is a western Slavic fortress in north east Germany, the settlement of the Rani tribe?

Slava in Slovak language means glory

Slovo means word

On the other hand there is a certain similarity between french word combination for Slavic nation - la nation slave and english word slave. Slave translated into Slovak is otrok. But as far as I know in christian kingdoms slavery was abolished so this word must had developed much sooner.

Neverthless Slavic nation is just as great as other indoeuropean nations so the etymology nowadays doesnt matter at all.
