Songs like this you can really tell Trace got his start singing in a gospel quartet. Absolutly amazing version of this classic. So soulful and, if the word can fit for a religious song, funky. Love it.

Trace sang this at Buck Owens funeral in 2006, with the only accompaniment of himself on guitar. It was the first time I'd ever heard the song and it was beautiful. His rich, deep voice really does it justice. It was nice to hear him sing it again on the Opry.

Great song. 2/13/10, Trace Adkins tour bus was headed to a concert in Shreveport,LA, & hit a truck head on. The 2 guys in the truck were Justin Maxey & Jeff Ferguson. They didn't make it. They were good friends of ours. Especially Justin. Trace sang 3 songs& this was the 3rd. He dedicated this song to them. Trace, like them, is a big hearted man. We have lots of respect for him more than ever. We'll be forever greatful for his care & concern. God Bless you Trace. RIP Justin & Jeff.

The first time I ever heard this song was when I was searching for a song for my father's funeral about 10 years ago. I bought a CD of old gospel songs by country artists and amazingly, this song was on that CD. I knew before the song was even over that it was THE perfect song for my dad. I almost felt like my dad was speaking to me through the words of this song. It was a bittersweet moment I will never forget.

I respectfully disagree.  I do love Ford's version, but this classic song is, lyrically, uplifting and joyful. Ford's version makes we want to cry; Adkins's version is full of hope. Their interpretations are very different, but I think they are both good.
