I love it! Amazing how you take just a little bit of each collor and use the load from the beginning to the end. I need to watch myself not to overwork, thanks for sharing with us.
Your painting of the Cottage Rose is simply beautiful, for years I have been fascinated with painting a rose and I would love to paint this one, thank you for sharing, God Bless
Where can I purchase your pdf packet? The account is closed at picturetrail. I would love to get one. Your roses are great, way better than that "other painter" who has gotten quite famous. LOL.
Anyhow I think you should make a video with you speaking and teaching too. Just wanted to let you know how wonderful I think your roses are.
I came here bc I was looking for the song, and someone linked this video for the song, but this is what youtube is all about - on demand visual description of people's skills.
I have the name of the song played here... it's "In The Stars" by Madison Park and The Sunday People... lol thought I'd never find it, it goes so well with this rose!
Its so beautiful, i put to my favorite videos, but my 2 years son love the music, i have to see this video all days long because the music. Can you tell me please who single?
thank you for letting me know. so the gel you use is the blending gel, not the floating medium? I used the DD brush and apply the paint like she shows, but the tip of my brush separate, maybe I load the paint too harsh? I really like your method, couldn't do the shells like dd does. will go practice.
That is a very beautiful rose, I'm trying to learn the one stroke, but could not get it down. I leave globs of paint on my surface and it could never go that smooth. Not sure if it's the brush I use or what. I used the donna dewberry brush, is that the brush you are using or is there a better brand of brush you recommend?
Hi purpleshamrock, I always do a light swipe of the corner tip of my brush on the edge of my palette before I start painting to do away with the clumps of paint. I also use a tiny amount of blending gel on each corner tip of my brush - blending on the palette and less paint than DD suggests too. I use angular brushes - Lowel Cornell 7400c series - sizes 1/4", 3/8", & 1/2". The OS angular brush will work as well.
She is using Folk Art acrylics and a floating gel medium to keep the paints from drying so quickly. Giving you the chance to work with them a bit longer than normal with acrylics.
thanks so much for posting this. I'm a OS painter and instructor, and I've never really cared for their offical rose. Other methods are so complicated too, and yours is just right, it's so gorgeous, I can't wait to try it out, I know it will take a lot of practice, but in looking at yours, it'll be worth it. just gorgeous! thanks much.
Cindi this looks a lot like Donna Dewberry crafts? Any way I just ordered a kit from her off of her website. It comes with like ten different brushes that she uses to create her flowers and thirteen folk art acrylic paints and a 35 page instructional book. I'm really looking forward to making flowers like this.
i love how u paint and its very pretty!! i was wondering if u can put more videos of other flowers u paint!! i love painting but i really only know how to make one type of rose! i would like to learn more.
Very beautiful, I love this video. I watch it everyday to try and get more and more out of it. I was wondering exactly what kinds or brand acrylics you use? I notice that your paints stay pretty moiste in between strokes.
I was blown away by how airbrushed and flawless the rose looks after you've finished it. I can't get mine to look anything like it lol! So I was thinking, maybe it's the paints I'm using? They are liquitex by the way.
Thank you so much : ) I hope the video helps you paint your roses. I use Folk art acrylics and/or Americana Decoart acrylics with touches of blending medium too.
I have almost given up painting AGAIN!!! I didn't like how all roses looked the same using OS. Now I have a better understanding of how to customize and make more realistic. Have you done a pansy????????
Thank you : ) I am so honored to know watching me paint my roses has helped you. Never give up! I have done the OS Pansy, but don't really like it, if I ever get it down to my liking I will post it : )
I used just regular posterboard from my local Hobby Lobby. Use floating medium or a blending medium to paint on posterboard. This keeps your paint brush from dragging. Thanks for inquiring : ) Cindi
so pretty!!!!!!

Absolutely beautiful roses, and so much better than DD. I do wish you'd post another one, and include leaves.
You paint magnificently, and I'd love to be able to recreate such a gorgeous rose... roses are my favorites!
Thank you for sharing this for all of us to appreciate.
