My Grandfather(WWI generation) would be proud. He was of Welsh descent (Howell). He could knock a man out with one punch. I always liked that he loved cats.
Nearly 50,000 people have viewed this. Amazing. I used to sing this with the choir. Now if you think they are a good choir (which they are) then search for the choir which I sing with now. Millhouse Green. We deserve 50,000 hits too!
But please Brits, stop your "won't yield" crap. You're yielding as we speak. Day by day, little by little you are yielding. Face the facts. You have more than 80 sharia courts in your country FFS, which are slowly undermining your rule of law. Never yield my ass. You've gone soft and weak. Just like the rest of Europe with all those "moral high ground" Euro-peons.
You're all yielding as we speak. Sing on if you want, but songs won't help you.
@higuma75 You would be suprised by the resolve of any brition. We shall never yeild to invaders. We welsh withstood the might of saxons, and every other foe that threw itself against us. Another foe shall simply be broken against our might.
@KingGrant4455 Funny, the muslims are taking over Britain and the UK... never yeild to invaders? yet UK women bed with them... NICE! Cant wait till muslims take over Europe so we dont have to hear this RACISTS MUSIC! ALLAH ACKBA!
@EvilKorbinDallas Time and time again, Britain, has taken waves on immigrants in stride, and British Culture has withstood. For nearly 1000 years Britain has taken flack and fire from every nation in the world at least once. We're the melting pot of Europe, where cultures simply are broken by our Hegemony and become part of our cultural fabric. Saxons, Normands, Vikings, and Zulus all failed to silence the song of Cymru. You're nothing special.
Yes, I've heard it sung quite often in English? I used to be in The Cor Meibion Morlais and we only did it in Welsh. I remember being quite surprised when other choirs were singing it in English. It just didn't sound right to me somehow. That's not putting anyone else down though. Just a peronal perspective.
Not sure why, but this seems to be the only Welsh song that we sing in English. I think that would be true of most Welsh choirs. I wonder if someone can give a reason for this!
We'll soon be changing that if I have anything to do with it ! The final line of the chorus "Cambria, God and Right" (marvellous collocation, by the way!) cries out to be sung in Welsh.
I can't film the choir in a stage setting. Always no filming allowed in such situations. Anyway it gives an impression of what we do. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I have 2 versions of this as mp3 welsh and english. Infact quite a bit of welsh male voice I have. It moves the sole and enables me to reflect on a many of things. What voice is singing this please?
Brilliant even if the women seemed not to be to bothered by it. Im a brummie living in Wales and I have loved Welsh voice for a long time. After the anthem this is second best for me.
The way to eat leeks, is at least twice a week. Raw, in salads, finely chopped as like any other brassica, braised with meat, boiled, with fish, and the wind of Wales be at your side. The scene in the film reminds us all that the Welsh soldiers of the lower ranks fought for the powers in London, but died singing for Wales. Bless them.
A STUPENDOUS choral arrangement and STRIKING execution of a traditional Welsh selection. I was eagerly awaiting this. The tight harmonic convergence was worth its weight in gold. This installment did my heart a lot of good. Many thanks for sharing it here for us to admire and appreciate.

Why.are singers of "men of harlch" wearing red wear? I watch "men of〜"movies, nearly always red wear is weared.
LUZOW2 2 years ago
It is our informal uniform. Red is a suitable colour for Hong Kong.

Some old faces on this video. Elfed Roberts, Bryan Carter, Terry Brewster and was John Walsh somewhere in the back.
Lots of gusto on the old theme tune - and just as much accuracy as when I was with the choir!

Thanks, David. Good to hear from a former member.
Yes, John there in the back row. He's the man who introduced me to the choir, so I have a lot to thank him for.

Super! But I wish it could have been filmed in a stage setting instead of the original venue. Still, your group sounded terrific! Thank you!

if theres one thing the welsh can do well sing in male choirs. fantastic singing. this is in Hong Kong you say?
dixie60 3 years ago
Certainly is. Best Welsh Male Voice Choir in Asia. (Also the only one.)
raymondcrooke 3 years ago
This music is played on piano in the movie "Picnic at Hanging Rock" in the scene of the dance school towards the end
Is it really a Traditional Welsh or a work of the compositor John Thomas (1826-1913)?
mizushimaqatsi 3 years ago
John Thomas drew on folk music for many of his classical compositions. When he used "Men of Harlech," it was already a well-known traditional tune.

On St David's Day, we have a leek-eating ceremony, but the one chosen to do so always needs a few beers to recover from the experience.
