@homayounibrandon I've heard hints in his most recent music of a surprisingly intense masculinity. And I think this is his most authentic voice. I hope someone close to him tells him to go with that feeling, concentrate on that energy. It's truly remarkable - startling!
Otherwise, when he strays from this sheer masculine energy, his stuff sounds hokey, corny, pretentious. He needs to make his music about HIM, keeping it personal and genuinely heart-felt. I think then he will shock and inspire.
@Hummel1dane That brings up an interesting point. Just who represents the standard for good taste?
I'll go out on a limb and suggest Rameau. That man never wrote a note that wasn't meaningful, that wasn't both beautiful and interesting in every way.
Bach lapses at times. Gets too noodly for noodling's sake. That's very bad taste.
@Hummel1dane Fair enough. I disagree on almost every point. But the bottom line is that I want the best for Greenberg. I just hope his handlers haven't set him up for a catastrophic fall.
Too traditional perhaps but still more than great for a 14 year old and he has a long future ahead!! Wow, I'm jealous, this is not the music I hear in my head :-)
@TheFutureClassics Hmmm. I'm sure that the music you hear in your head is a LOT better than this! You have TASTE!
I think John Williams should publicly apologize for ruining this kid's taste. And his teachers at Juilliard should apologize too. When this kid is old enough to know better, he's going to be FURIOUS that some adult in his life didn't STOP him from publishing such nonsense!
Is that too harsh? : )
This boy is no prodigy in taste. And taste is everything.
what program was used to compose this i compose music too...not as well as this genius

He sounds like a brilliant kid who doesn't have the emotional experience and freedom that marks really timeless music yet.

@pantalaemon I agree. And I think his adult handlers should've wisely just allowed him to grow up in peace.

What interesting music--it will be fascinating to see how the composer develops throughout his life.
