The problem for Palin and McCain is that people knew what they were looking for. They couldn't get a straight answer out of Bush about the economy and the wars, so they naturally turned to a saviour. They, as so many people across the globe have done, voted for a saviour. Human nature is such that if we don't have to take responsibility for our actions, like voting for Bush in the first place, we'll go with that. Palin was the 2008 scapegoat.
