Maybe you'll pull out something to school me, but if you are a Christian who believes in the Bible it makes perfect sense to believe the earth is only around that age. Chronologically adding up the ages of men obviously isn't a perfect system but by around 10,000 that could mean anything from 5 to 15 thousand years to me

as a creationist, i'd like to explain something: evolution and creationism in no way contradict each other. everyone knows the Old Testament of the Bible shouldn't be taken word for word because it was passed down orally, but maybe the "week" that God spent making the universe didn't really take a week, and it really took billions of years, something ancient peoples couldn't understand. i think God just created the world not how we see it today, but the way science says it developed.

instead of "Don't be a Zombie", wouldn't it be more like "Don't be a Robot"? as robots are more on the side of "only doing what they are programmed" in this case, programmed by society and life, especially insecurities and such which keeps one in the walls of one's "robotic self" not allowing who they are to be expressed, keeping their opinions inside, just watching, obtaining information, but never saying a word. Just saying, 'Robot' seems more appropriate here compared to 'Zombie'.

A lot of people don't seem to be getting this - if someone is religious it doesn't make them a zombie. If an atheist is an atheist because they were bought up that way, they are just as much a zombie as a religious person. It's only the ones who don't question -aspects- of their religion who Dan believes to be zombies, and Dan sees creationism as being one of those aspects that is not being questioned enough.

@jakecaput well in that case, I think atheists are probably the worst zombies! Just the other day I listened to a podcast, in which the host listed up all sorts of facts and proof of the existence of Jesus and then had atheists call in, to give proof that atheism is accurate and correct. Turns out, none of them (and there were many callers) couldn't answer the question. They just tried to counter him with other questions. So they had no real proof, but they wouldn't even imagine to question that

@JSAirways Being a zombie is nothing to do with whether you are right or wrong, or how good or bad you are in discussions/arguments. It is about whether you think about what you believe in. As they were involved in a discussion about it, it suggests both the host and callers were -not- zombies.

I hate when people take their religions, i was reading my local newspaper and their was a ad saying " at todays serice we will be talking about the jews and how jesus sacrificed for OUR sins" and I think that is very offensive because 1) a church shouldn't try to get in the way of other people's religion and 2) my local newspaper has way to many articles about cristianity and barely anything else, that is singling people out who want to know about what's going on about their religion

i didnt like how dan implied that people with religion are "zombies". Its true people can be so obsessed that they cant see whats in front of them BUT i do believe we should accept,not always approve of, but accept how they live. Can you really say that there aren't Christians who never read the bible or investigate answers for themselves, but just spew that everyone else is wrong and they are right because someone told them they were? God gave us brains and he expects us to use them to figure out why we believe. We are supposed to have faith like a child but even kids ask why. Dan's just saying we need to think for ourselves.
