Angelic Glory runs right throughout this hymn. God Bless those who hear this and its spiritual edification and may the prayers of St Thomas Aquinas be with the faithful.
Heavenly music indeed. The Ensemble Organum and the Hilliard Ensamble under Paul Hilliermay be some of the finest performers of this music.
For those of you looking for sheet music, I found this Website: organum-cirma.fr/organum-cirma - Under "Publications" on the right hand side the Ensemble Organum provide the very scores they use, beautifully printed as well.
"Tantum Ergo Sacramentum," while usually treated as a hymn of its own, is actually the final two verses of the "Pange Lingua Gloriosi," a Eucharistic hymn that was composed by St. Thomas Aquinas for the Feast of Corpus Christi.
Divine.

Just bello, bello just as heaven intended. I wish I lived in the time of St Thomas Aquinas just to hear him and his brothers singing it.

Those guies are perfectly in tune! That's the longest amen I've ever heard!
Does anyone out there know anything about this composer, what century he lived in, etc?
LouisvilleTorn8o 8 months ago
@LouisvilleTorn8o I think it was written by a certain Anonymous... :)

Haha, Hail Anonymous!
Perhaps they should make a statue of Anonymous...
DeHeld8 6 months ago
@DeHeld8 Correction to eref2000, the author is known. He is St. Thomas Aquinas, a reknowned doctor of the Church.

@Killermuffin1
Well the original question was, who is the composer, which usually means "who wrote this music"?
So Anonymous is right - or Traditional Corsican to give him his full name :D
The text is, of course, the last two verses of "Pange Lingua" - Dr Tom Aquinas...
roquefort88888 3 months ago
@LouisvilleTorn8o It was written by the famed St. Thomas Aquinas in the thirteenth century.

this is a great song. I wish it was on itunes. The amen alone takes almost a minute, and most of that is just the first syllable.

I love this style of chant,
probably the best version of Tantum Ergo
I will pray that this style of chanting is restored in the Roman Church
