  • I need the gameboy version.

I have the real thing and it's definitely my favourite G&W.

  • Oh and I might add that I had a lot of fond memories playing this game. I finished it numerous times and I agree that it was a bit monotonous but that's all I had at that age so it was entertaining. Obviously outlets today outdo this archaic gaming format hence the trolls.

  • I know this is late but I just found the actual portable version of this (yeah I'm old) in my closet. I need to drop 2 batteries in it I obviously. Is it worth much? I wouldn't sell it-- just want to know.

  • @animayi Yes. The lowest these sell for is $45. A nice working one with no deterioration or scratches could probably go as high a $100. Still having the box intact, up to $150.

  • this game sux

  • @babal1ty *rolls eyes*

This is from way before the times of even the Game Boy. This was originally an LCD game for the long-running Game & Watch series of portable games. Back when this was released (and it was one of the last Game & Watch games released), it was groundbreaking. If you'll look, it actually pushes the boundaries of what LCD games can do. These things used to be no more than glorified calculators, and yet they played games like these. Google before you say things like that.

  • @CCharmanderK well maybe you are right but this game still sucks like a vacuum cleaner

  • @babal1ty Just because a video game doesn't have 60+ hours of gameplay, 16-player online multiplayer support, high-definition graphics and whatever else plus the kitchen sink doesn't mean it sucks.

Besides, have you even played this?

  • @CCharmanderK no of course. i d rather shoot myself in the head.

  • @babal1ty Well, there you have it. You haven't even played it. What right do you have to criticize a game that you haven't even played?

  • @CCharmanderK it is so bad that all of its lovers should die painfully

  • @CCharmanderK it is so bad that all of its lovers should die painfully

  • @CCharmanderK it is so bad that all of its lovers should die painfully

  • @babal1ty and you should do what you said before.

  • Which one is link i cant tell :c

  • beep beep beep... boop haha XD sometimes I wonder what the point of the sound effects are in Game & Watch games.

  • I thought this would look different

  • That stalfos is a sly one. standing under you and stabbing slowly through the floor. Tactics!

  • @samesvids LOL I noticed that too. we all see him and his sly tactics haha

  • Its like those little knockoff video games of like mario or sonic you used to see at Mcdonalds as the toys.

  • Nintendo needs to make a Modern version of the Game & Watch Zelda game in Game & Watch Gallery 5.

Oh wait! Maybe they should do that since this year is Zelda's 25th anniversary!

  • Okay, wiki said the Legend of Zelda SERIES is unlockable in G&W 4. I was like wtf and came here. Now I know.

  • i never get that far...

  • @TheManWithTheTie and you can also get zelda and donkey kong nintendo mini classics, theyre cool

  • @TheManWithTheTie if you go to club nintendo AUS you can earn 2500 stars and get one with donkey kong, oil panic and greenhouse on DS. they probs have it on US aswell

  • Head stabbing simulator: awesome.

  • is this the only g&w zelda?

  • wow cool, zelda 2 style

  • @RetroShinigami yeah i already did :D

  • MAH BOI! This game is what all true warriors strive for!

  • can this game be beaten? or do you just play till youre out of lives and get a high score?

  • @Patogarza93

I don't have a definitive answer for this question as I've never gotten far enough to know. However, after a little research I discovered that 8 Dragons must be defeated to get eight pieces of the Triforce. I would assume that the game ends after that, but the truth is I'm not sure.

  • @Parko33

I played this back in the early 90's when I was about 12. I completed it. I mean, it can be completed. You have to defeat all 8 dragons to complete the triforce pyramid. Pretty good stuff.

  • @Parko33 If I remember correctly you get to see a short animation were Link reunites with Zelda (this is played out in the top left corner of the screen if I am not mistaken) and then the game starts all over again. I got the original Game & Watch game back in '87 when it was released but I haven't played it for a long time now.

  • @Parko33 I'm pretty sure you can beat the game. But there is probably other loops with higher difficulty.

  • @Parko33

Yes, the game can be beaten. Once you beat all 8 dragons, Link saves Zelda in the top left corner of the top screen, the game stops there so the little pause pause box appears asking if you want to play again or quit.

  • @Parko33 This is true.

As long as you collect all triangles, you get on top the the screen and save princess. After that game ends.

I played it 17 years ago in original game and watch.

  • @Parko33 Story wise it takes place after Zelda 1 and before Zelda 2. Yes it ends after defeating all the dragons and getting the Triforce of power.

  • @Parko33

Hello, i have this game on the original Game and Watch system. To answer the question, after the 8 dragons, Link saves the princess and the game restart but the points continue, so it's made to do highscores. To beat the 8 dragons and save the princess it must play during 2 or 3 hours, so i never played more of two games (8 dragons). If you want i upload a video, tell me, but the screen doesn't have any color.

  • @Patogarza93

I know the original has a second quest which is harder after completing the first quest (collecting all pieces of the triforce).

Since it is a remake it should be the same.

Unless they made the second quest the Hard mode.

  • @Patogarza93

    This game can be beaten.

You slay the dragon and finding the triforce

  • @CaponeXX yeah. wow my comment was a year ago. but thanks, I did beat this game already, kinda hard at first but once you get the hang of it its pretty easy. totally worth it :D

  • @Patogarza93 - I know this reply is WAY WAY late but I just found this video. If THIS GBA port functions exactly as the original Game & Watch console did then you will play until you recover all pieces of the Triforce, get a little well done type screen, then the game cycles and you start the fun all over. ;-) LOVED this as a kid ... would play it during recess at school!

  • @NJDizGuy81 thanks. I beat the game several months ago. it actually has an ending (the little scene with zelda getting out of the cage link is like "yay") which was impressive and unexpected from a game and watch game, since most of them just blink and start over

  • Anyway, I'd probably fail at a game like this, I was never good at stuff like Game and Watch

  • Completed this so many time as a kid :D Hours of fun -- Thanks for uploading

  • man imagine if they had made done a remake of this like all the other games in G&W4..... would have been so epic....

  • @Titansfan2653

I have been dreaming of that for years. Would have been really bad ass.

  • id love to have that game

  • @liamissooooocool

Man you're right, maybe I should remove the video?

Or how about if you think it's boring don't search for videos featuring gameplay. Just a suggestion.

  • @liamissooooodumb

Yet, without it, your stupid little handheld consoles would never have even existed.

Evolution of games, retard. Respect the classics.

  • @Nintendavin

Couldn't agree more, without Game and Watch we wouldn't have Gameboy and most obvious the DS

  • @Parko33 or psp

  • @Nintendavin i agree as wel. game and watch is the grandfather of nintendo and deserves respect

  • @Nintendavin You are pathetic, you 'retro' gamers live off the classics and those games are really simple and boring.. and you don't know if without the game and watch there wouldn't be any handhelds like the DS. I don't have to respect anything I don't want to. And I'm retarded because I don't like crap games like this? Sorry but you are retarded if you think this game is fun.

  • @liamissooooocool I'm sorry that you have no one to support your opinions. And if Nintendo didn't make any of these Game and Watch games, they would just be making playing cards and other merchandise. Also, the Playstation would not have existed because they co-developed it.

  • @liamissooooocool Next Gen Newfag. That's all I have to say, as you've already been disciplined.

  • @ErebeaDeity Your nerdy, pathetic words do not bother me. And I've been disciplined? Wow.. grow up. You probably go on 4chan, am I right? -_-

  • @liamissooooocool 4Chan? Hell I thought you went there, My apologies, I just thought you were a lifeless troll looking for lulz, but it actually seems you are as stupid as you seem. sorry for the misunderstanding. But seriously, we obviously bother you as you keep coming back getting your ass virtually whipped with text. Get over it, it's a great classic game, you can't appreciate that. Case closed.

  • @ErebeaDeity Getting my ass viritually whipped? Where do you get off making silly, immature comments like that? And just because I don't appreciate a game that is NOT of my generation doesn't mean that I am any less of a gamer. I like good games. They can be old or new. The oldest game I like is Super Mario World and please remember that I am 15. I'm not some silly, retro, nerdy gamer in their 20's or 30's defending a game! lol I am not stupid. I am just different than you. Everyone is different

  • @liamissooooocool Lol, I never said you werent a true gamer, and also, I am 15 myself retro classic games are my style, but I also like newer games, i respect yours but you were being disrespectful to retro games and it got out of hand, that's all that happened, we're both immature.

  • @ErebeaDeity You can't be disrespectful to things that are not alive.. -_- You are taking this gaming thing too far.. And I'm not immature. I'm more mature than pratically everyone in my school.. even including some teachers.

  • @liamissooooocool I'll ignore the first comment, and so am I, but we are immature in our own way, its very corny yes but true.. Glad to see we aren't virtually biting eachothers heads off.

  • @ErebeaDeity I'm not immature, please just stop going on about it.

  • @liamissooooocool Searching a video about a game just to type that it's boring just to make a handful of people flame you is not immature? Sure, whatever helps you sleep at night. Anyway this is obviously over

  • @ErebeaDeity I searched this video to have a look at the game because I didn't like The DS version so I wondered if this was any better but it's worse. I said it was boring because it is my opinion and I am entitled to it. I didn't come on this video to say it is boring, I came to have a look at the game and see if it seems more fun than the DS version. I'm far from immature. Now the people at school who talk about looks all the time and throw drinks at me.. they're the immature ones.

  • @ErebeaDeity And another thing there doesn't need to be a silly debate between next gen gamers and retro gamers because none of them are true gamers. True gamers like good games from any generation. And I remember when I had a Mario Vs. Donkey Kong game and watch and I played it for a day or two and got bored so it's not like I've never played it. I also played the Club Nintendo DS version and played all 3 games and lost interest in about 5-10 minutes. So I know what I'm talking about..

  • @liamissooooocool hey! watch what you are writting! i like these games and because of that im retarded?! whatch what your writting will ya!?

  • @liamissooooocool well i sure thought it was fun though

  • @MhmToasty You know what they say, 'simple things entertain simple minds'.

  • @liamissooooocool yes usually children should have simple minds. i was a child when i played this. and fun isnt supposed to be all that complex

  • @MhmToasty Majora's Mask is a game that is not always straightforward and simple yet that is a really fun game.

  • @liamissooooocool A game is just anything that gets you deep into big virtual quests. Some old Game & Watch games did this really well, and some new 3D style games did this really well. Everyone knows that better gaming technology is a good thing, but it doesn't automatically make games more complicated. Checkers looks like one of the most simple games ever, but it's actually one of the most complicated games ever.

  • yes I have a Zelda Game and Watch its so fun I also have a rare zelda watch

  • I have a Zelda Game and Watch yes so fun but I also have the rare zelda watch

    the games are so rare

  • Hmm....I wonder where this game goes in the timeline...

  • Comment removed

  • @wingedmario64 they have the time line for this game at Zu (Zelda universe)

    follow the link:

    zeldauniverse(dot)net/timeline-theory/2/#toc-example-1-built-relying-on-the-developers

Replace the (dot) with a .

  • @wingedmario64

It's the very last in the G&W series, made in 1989 (same year the GameBoy came out).

  • @wingedmario64

late 80's. I have this one, donkey kong 2 and safebuster :D

  • @verzeda LOL he mean the zelda time, the order when the games take place

  • @wingedmario64 I'd say after Link: The faces of evil.....

  • DAMN!! howd ya get this??? for me getting all the stars is impossible! i just unlocked mario's bombs away recently.

  • It was quite the feat but worth it, i'd rather have the actual handheld though.

  • the very first game i played was this when i was 3 years old...amazing!!! i also had a hand held mario game and watch!!!

  • I only played it in recent years, however, I did enjoy it quite a bit.

  • and this whole time i thought zelda started on the nes

  • Me as well, until I discovered this that is.

  • @Parko33 1989 is not before Zelda NES, that was '86.

  • @thejohnsontreatment

    Thanks for pointing that out

  • it did this came after the nes version but before the gameboy came out this would actually be the real zelda 2

  • @supask8a23 It did start out on the nes. I think this game and watch came out in '88 or '89.

  • where can you buy GAW cheap? because in my country, there all bids

  • well they are to old to sell in stores so you have to hope to get lucky and get one off ebay

  • Yeah the only chance is on eBay

  • Wow! I just bought an original GW zelda on EBAY and the LCD sprites or whatever they are called are so much more detailed than in this version!

  • I haven't seen the actual G&W Zelda, someday I hope to own one.

  • i just got one on EBAY. it was 100 dollars flat. It was so worth it! the artwork on the outside is amazing!

  • I seen some of the artwork and liked it. I'd pay 100 dollars for it as well, but it was probably 1/3 of that when it was first released!!

  • that's one of the most creative "game & watch" games i've ever seen. i never thought i'd see one with a map and an inventory.

  • agreed!

It is challenging and fun to play. My fav g&w game by far

  • how did u play that on ur game i can't!

  • You have to get a ton of stars to play this. It will become unlocked in the museum.

  • i wanna see the modern version

  • I would show it to you, however, there isn't a modern version. This is a part of a function called the museum from Game and Watch 4 on GBA.

  • bubblesishot46853, there is no Modern version of the Zelda Game & Watch.

  • Dang, I wish I could unlock this. I have 50-60 stars to go. sigh...

  • keep goin and the prize will be worth the wait

  • OK thanks and now i only have 17 to go. Today, I got 20 more stars because I did some quick 2 player matches of modern and classic Boxing and Donkey Kong 3.

  • ok wow thanks for the motivation! I unlocked it and it is awesome! :D

  • That is awesome! Hope you enjoy the game! It's not like the main series, but it sure does the trick when you want to kill some time.

  • can you explain the point to the game? is it as hardcore as the main series?

  • Do some research, you'll find everything you need to know, and no it's not as hardcore as the main series

  • so basically you're supposed to defend hyrule from aquamentus? sounds boring to me

  • It's game and watch so what could you expect? Well let's just be thankful that the series has taken a much better direction.

  • I take it it would be hard to find the game and watch and the game at a good price

  • Well I know that one copy is floating around eBay. You would probably pay over 200 dollars for it right now, it's very rare as you can probably see.

  • i wasn't even willing to spend that much for final fantasy 7 so i probably wouldn't spend $200 for this

  • No friggin way

  • do you think im just better off getting this instead of the actual handheld?

and how hard is it to get all those stars?

    great video

  • It is way cheaper to get the gba game maybe that is the better route to go if you're low on cash like myself.

  • i love my zelda game & watch, i got it on eBay for $30! heck yes!!!

  • That's a steal

  • yea, i know! they were selling for like $200 and then i saw this and jumped all over it! LMAO, its SOOO fun! OMG, i love it.

  • How the heck do you get all those stars?

  • Practice

  • i have DK and Mario Bros. Looking at ZELDA on eBay, a must have for Zelda fans like myself!! LOL

  • Indeed!

  • Oh and could you please tell me if it would be worth buying the actual game and watch zelda?

  • I think I'd wait until the price went down a bit. If you are a serious Zelda collector than this is a must have. If it was 50 dollars then I'd say go for it, but not for 100 or more.

  • Thanks. I think i may ask for a game and watch for my birthday. Just curious but did you reach the boss of the game?

  • I reached the first boss ha,

  • lol. I think that when I'm an adult and i get rich I'll buy EVERY game and watch game. Not every copy but just 1 of every game.

  • You sound very dedicated to the Game and Watch collection. I say go for it!

  • Lol. Thanks. If you want game emulators I know 2 good sites with 0 harmful things.

  • I want the gallery of G & W but i do want the actual Zelda, Mario, and DK game and watch games.Too bad they cost about $50.

  • I was actually looking at a Zelda one on ebay earlier and it was over $100 Canadian.

  • wow thats alot!

  • lol It's actually more fun than I thought it would be.
