Unfortunately the Google Voice transcription service is horrible and extremely unreliable for every day use. I know, I was forwarding my voicemails to GVoice for a few months and finally had to give up because I found myself wasting time reading transcribed messages and then having to listen to them anyway because the transcription was so bad.
@benkessler You're totally right that the transcription service can be buggy and won't always provide an accurate record of the message. Personally, while I've run into problems, it's never been so bad that I didn't know who was calling and what the message was about. Maybe I've just been lucky?
