How did you summarize a chapter?! They're loaded with info its hard to tell what is important and what isn't! :0! I see your going to graduate soon! Congrats!! : )
Thank you for such great tips Cecile! Im also a SN too! just a random tip in how I remember things and any nursing student can use is to apply what we learn from our textbook in our daily lives like nutrition to excerising. Good luck to all Future nurses and to you Cecile! ^^
she's so right . I do the same exact thing w/ the summarizing, etc. I put it in my own words and it helps you understand/remember better. Though it is TIME CONSUMING ! but well worth it
I think your approach is correct in that you need to "break down" your class lecture notes, & I'm not saying urs isn't effective, but the volume of info you have on your summarized notes isn't enough to rely solely on. I prefer that when I outline, I can throw the notes to the side after that, so I make heavy outlines (typed), then try to retain as much as I can. Whatever doesn't stick at that point, I then go to notecards for. Thanks for your teaching your style though! GL
I feel really sorry for people going into nursing. I'm a nurse and wish people would research it more..this field is going down the drain and there's no turning back. Just google "No nursing jobs" or "No nursing shortage"..and "I hate nursing". If you still are determined to go into nursing after giving that some thought, then all the luck in the world to ya! We take our exam on Wed of next week. I am getting a little nervous. Do you have some advise for me on what i should focus on. It's alot of material to know...
@mwhitexo55 omgosh, please study vital signs and anatomy of a child because it is different from adults. on the nclex reviews ive done, there are alot of....."you walk into the room and you see this and this and this happening, what should u do?" call the doctor? or do nothing because everything is normal....do not get confuse with adult stuff and children stuff, it will screw you
u know what helps me is to stop thinking of studying as not having a life. Thinking that way makes u feel like a looser. Studying is a life that will give u a much better one. Seeing it this way has helped me get through all my classes. You're videos are really good. Going to try yoga. Thanx.
@AmethystStiletto CONGRATS ON GETTING INTO NURSING SCHOOL!!!!! Yes...I was screaming at you. I would like to tell you to READ those books, they're so expensive, you may as well read em right? (luckily at night which i have alot of downtime in a hospital). i really dont want to go to school parttime.do you think its possible? to work fulltime and nursing school also? fulltime?
@frederick1990091 What do you expect. She is a nursing student. This pratice takes a lot of hours. You do not always have time to do everything. I know I have took nursing classes also.
oh i love you so much for this techniques, now i know that lack of sleep hours is not good at all, i will try doing your tips, and i'm gonna have to comment you if it works,, have power mate!!!
lol when i study A & P i do that "talking to myself out loud too!" i thought i'm the only one..but it really does works!! i also records professors lectures on my recorder and listen to it at home! it works wonders!!

Do you summarize paragraph by paragraph or chapter by chapter. I really like your technique. I start my Junior year of nursing school June 1st! Going for by BSN!
Itis hard but u have to know how to study and take the test. I bought this guide from someone named ms.nursegirl18466 called a survival guide for beginning nursing students for like 5 dollars. its short but its relly helpful
hey. i really like your vid. im a first sem nursing student and i have a question. how do u read the questions on the test? lol i know it sounds weird, but i tend to overthink them and i end up missing the most obvious questions. so, how should you read the questions so you wont overthink them? also, how do u try to do the process of elimination when answering? the answers all seem right to me sometimes lol. sorry for the long post, but help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!
You are mega cute and intelligent.I just like to throw my 2 cents to you that sweety spend couple of hours for organizing your room. After cleaning up your room you will feel more energetic. Please, don't be offended.............
hey there, if your patient can move their arms, have them hold on to one side of the rails and then you can put pillows and stuff underneath the other side, then tell them to let go........if your patient is total care and they cannot grab onto the rails, you need another person to help you, ask a CNA and you guys do it together.
THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH! THIS WAS SUPER DUBER HELPFUL! how is nursing school? are you already done? i am a prenursing major, and I am trying soooo hard to get good grades in anatomy and everything else before i go to nursing school. thank you for posting this!
Im currently in the RN program and I agree with everything you have said. Note cards do nothing for me and neither do study groups. And with the talking to yourself part I definately do that. One time i was taking an exam and I was talking through my mind remembering how i associated that part of the exam while studying and my teacher thought I was crazy!
Index cards work well for me in nursing school I break each card into nursing process for example Assessment- I write what i would assess for a particular disorder, late s/s and early s/s. Diagnosis-I define the disorder come up with nursing diagnosis, planning how i will plan to care for this patient. Interventions-that are evidenced based for particular disorder ect. evaluation ect
Well, the way I see it, the better the grade, the better off you'll be. PERIOD. And All grades passed 8th grade count. Trust me. Get the very BEST grades possible no matter what, and it will make life WAY easier.
I am a pre nursing student. I'm taking A&P202 currently. I just need this class and Micro & then the NET before I can apply to nursing school. I'm excited to find your videos because I really am curious about what to expect once I'm in the program. Please keep making them!!! :) Thanks
so what do you try to do when you summarize? i can't sit and read so I write down just about everything and it takes forever....how do you pick out the main stuff as in what is going to be tested on?
I have been contemplating entering the nursing field. I would like to know would you prefer that someone become a certified nursing assistant first before they enter into nursing to see whether or not this field is for them?
awesome videos! I wish I had these when I was in nursing school. These are definitely excellent tips. The key thing was definitely time management and blocking study time and forcing yourself.
Good Luck with everything!
sounds like you're already on your way to becoming a great nurse ^___^
hi there, i only write down things i don't kno about, i usually just skip things i easily understand or things i already know about =), in clinicals you just gotta force yourself to be agressive and not hide behind the stations. just go around introduct yourself to the rns and ask them if they need help, i also find that talking to your patients also build up a lot of confidence because you build a trust relationship with them =)
I have that gigantic calender and I love it cause i can see the tings i need to do and ahead of time. Wats ur advice on medsurg? too much stuff to remember and I'm not a fan of writing summaries because reading the chapters are already a pain. thanks
Great advice! Thanks for always sharing your journey =)
Hey do you know any nursing books for someone who is plannning to join the program? like nursing for dummies? lol ok maybe not that but do you suggest reading like biology books ? Thanks!
Hi, I was just wondering.. since you take notes while you read the chapter, do you take notes during the lecture as well? If so, how do you incorporate the two? I'm starting my BSN program in september and I think your videos are awesome! :)
hey! thank you for sharing all this info. My dream job is to become a nurse too, right now it seems like you have to really have a lot of focus, dedication, organization, and a LOT of hard work to get by nursing school. It seems like you have to do a lot of self sacrifice, well just from how you describe it anyway, makes it sound like its hard to have a social life and study at the same time : / but hey no pain no gain.
Hi, I am in love with your videos and plan on watching them forever! LOL but where did you get the huge calender? I need one really bad to remember what I have to do because my memory sucks!!!
Cecile, that was a GREAT video. A lot of your techniques I use myself too. I am going to do the talking to yourself thing and also buying that big calendar! You are too kind to do this for everyone!
i know some people hate school, but they still force themselves up in the morning cuz they know they gotta do what they gotta do, u just have to find ur medium
Thank you! I found this very helpful! :D And my room looks the same way because I am studying constantly lol

Do you summarize paragraph by paragraph or chapter by chapter. I really like your technique. I start my Junior year of nursing school June 1st! Going for by BSN!

I just stumbled across your other channel, and I really like these kind of videos.
I study out loud as well and I actually walk around, just to make sure I don't fall asleep.
I hope you keep making these videos, they're really usefull and fun to watch.

Thanks!!!

hey there, if your patient can move their arms, have them hold on to one side of the rails and then you can put pillows and stuff underneath the other side, then tell them to let go........if your patient is total care and they cannot grab onto the rails, you need another person to help you, ask a CNA and you guys do it together.

Are you studying to be an RN??? If so any tips? cuz thats what I wanna be!
cutestkittyface 2 years ago
Index cards work well for me in nursing school I break each card into nursing process for example Assessment- I write what i would assess for a particular disorder, late s/s and early s/s. Diagnosis-I define the disorder come up with nursing diagnosis, planning how i will plan to care for this patient. Interventions-that are evidenced based for particular disorder ect. evaluation ect

Guys freshman year of highschool, how much do your grades count? I have straight B's right now...
Perodigy 2 years ago
Well, the way I see it, the better the grade, the better off you'll be. PERIOD. And All grades passed 8th grade count. Trust me. Get the very BEST grades possible no matter what, and it will make life WAY easier.

hey! great video and advice!! you do exactly what I do, I summarize all of the reading. However, It does take a lot of time to do.
thedesignateddriver 2 years ago
so what do you try to do when you summarize? i can't sit and read so I write down just about everything and it takes forever....how do you pick out the main stuff as in what is going to be tested on?

you pay attention in lecture

I have been contemplating entering the nursing field. I would like to know would you prefer that someone become a certified nursing assistant first before they enter into nursing to see whether or not this field is for them?

i did mefical asst for the same reason i think i wasted my time if u wanna care and love to care go for it im 25 and on my second semester for RN
ScolarshipBoy1984 2 years ago
awesome videos! I wish I had these when I was in nursing school. These are definitely excellent tips. The key thing was definitely time management and blocking study time and forcing yourself.
Good Luck with everything!
sounds like you're already on your way to becoming a great nurse ^___^

How many hours a day do you study and attend classes???
myveryownthing 2 years ago
hi there, i only write down things i don't kno about, i usually just skip things i easily understand or things i already know about =), in clinicals you just gotta force yourself to be agressive and not hide behind the stations. just go around introduct yourself to the rns and ask them if they need help, i also find that talking to your patients also build up a lot of confidence because you build a trust relationship with them =)
ItzCecile 2 years ago
Great tips, I agree that you have to force yourself at times to study, the summarizing is really working for me, thanks!
mrl1210 2 years ago 2
oh my gosh this was so helpful! will DEFINITELY be trying this. thanks cecile (:
amberfrost28 2 years ago
hahaha i thought i was the ONLY one who studied "out loud"...... thats really the only way i can remember things!!
yooperchick15 2 years ago
This comment has received too many negative votes show
Forcing yourself to study is not the way to accomplish anything if you ask me.
Paddis92 2 years ago
if i got an A because of that, that's what i'll do, if one thing works for other people, it may not work for you, doesn't mean it won't work

I have that gigantic calender and I love it cause i can see the tings i need to do and ahead of time. Wats ur advice on medsurg? too much stuff to remember and I'm not a fan of writing summaries because reading the chapters are already a pain. thanks

Hey do you know any nursing books for someone who is plannning to join the program? like nursing for dummies? lol ok maybe not that but do you suggest reading like biology books ? Thanks!
charmimu 2 years ago 2
Hi, I was just wondering.. since you take notes while you read the chapter, do you take notes during the lecture as well? If so, how do you incorporate the two? I'm starting my BSN program in september and I think your videos are awesome! :)
Erinxo11 2 years ago
hey! thank you for sharing all this info.
