  • che bellezza.

  • without a doubt the best performance (also, the schubert ensemble did a FANTASTIC G minor, I highly suggest looking for that recording, it's cheap)

  • I think Howard Shore stole one of his themes from a motif here...

  • @jacobflaschen when you say "stole" it seemed to be expressed with negative connotations, because composers borrow themes from each other all the time.

  • @jacobflaschen which one?

  • @AlexMansourMusic I was half-joking; it kinda sounds like the Fellowship theme.

  • REALLY Y'LL LIKE TO KNOW THE HISTORY OF THIS PIECE..IT'S SO SUBLIME..¿WICH IS YOUR ...

  • I wish I could find this recording

  • @emanonami I've never played it, but I went and listened to it. I think it sounds pretty cool - always a shame when the composer doesn't get the chance to finish the other movements (thinking also of Schubert's Quartettsatz).

  • I love this piece very much

  • Quartet Ysaye and Pascal Roge have done a great job with Faure's piano quartets and quintets. Another excellent and probably hard to find performance is with Jean-Philippe Collard and the Quator Parrenin.

  • The opening harmonies of this quartet are absolutely gorgeous!

  • pure art !!!!

  • I don't know anything about classical music and it didn't touch me till i've heard this peace. I think it's sublime. Can anybody tell me were I can buy this?

  • @Fredrikschut

    Probably on itunes

  • @Fredrikschut I don't know about this recording, but a really opulent performance recorded in the mid-1980s by the English group "Domus" was released by the Hyperion label. I'm pretty sure it's still available.

  • 2:55 Que momento mas inspirado, sublime!!!

  • I regularly read piano quartets with my father and two friends (I play violin). This piece is possibly the most beautiful of all of them.

  • @dsherm91 That's awesome. Have you played the Mahler Piano Quartet? I love it. :D

  • cool performance

    Hallo Rolf!

weet u misschien op welke cd / lp / mp3 dit stuk te kopen is? Ik vind het prachtig.

    Veel dank,

  • <3 ..

  • this is lovely

  • Ive always wanted to hear Casals/Thibaud/Cortot play this and the Opus 45 but I dont suppose I shall. Id always assumed it was on 78.

  • @humbledog1984 Or how about Long - Thibaud - Vieux - Fournier?!

It seems the album with the 2nd quartet will be available on Amazon as of tomorrow (remastered disc of a recording made May 10, 1940 - btw the very day Germany invaded the Netherlands and just before invading France).

  • Going to listen to this music in Singapore's conservatorium 22 Oct. 2008!

  • Very nice, the onyx cd?

  • BRILLIANT! this quartet is incredible and very difficult to play. I'm playing it with my quartet and...the pianist can die! haha!

Where can I get the song?

  • è bellisssimo

  • Under the storm of yellow,Faurè' s music is opening an instant of relief.....and everything turns in blue..in a wild despairing blue...
